Tropical Fool

A fool is an old-fashioned British dessert. In the 17th century, a fool consisted of stewed fruit blended or mixed with custard. Nowadays, the simmered fruits are layered with or folded into, whipped cream. For the best possible flavor, make sure your fruit is nice and ripe. marthastewart.com. -- posted by Manami

Orange Julius... a Special Twist on an Old Favorite

When you think of orange julius, a drink with milk or cream, orange juice, and possibly egg is most likely what comes to mind. Although I have always considered myself an orange julius lover, that drink never existed until I googled it in hopes of finding a recipie for my favorite mall drink- a mouth-watering combination of orange, kiwi, and yougurt dubbed "Orange Julius" by California Fruit Shake & Yogurt Co. Disapointed by my search results and determined to create the drink I love, I concocted this recipe. I hope you enjoy it.
Kiwi Fruit Salad

From Simple & Delicious. Looks and sounds like a yummy fruit salad--I just lo-o-o-ve kiwi! The easiest way I've found to peel kiwi is to cut the very ends off, cut it in half crosswise, slide the bowl of a spoon down between the skin and the flesh, and carefully slide it all around the kiwifruit. Then just pop the fruit out of the skin! -- posted by Halcyon Eve

Strawberry Angel-Food Cake With Red and Green Holiday Sauces

This is a perfectly beautiful dessert for the holiday season. Strawberry-studded slices of angel-food cake nestle in pools of festive red and green sauces. This is a wonderful dessert for a ladies luncheon or after a heavy dinner as it is light and airy and low in fat--an unusual feature for a holdiay dessert! This treasure of a recipe came from "Vegetarian Times" 15 years ago. Note that cooling the cake is not figured into the times.
Strawberry-Kiwi Smoothie

I played around with different fruits and additions in smoothies last summer, and this was probably my favorite one. Because of the oats and almonds, I typically have this as a meal in itself, maybe with just a piece of toast or something. Another variation I liked was using half a peach instead of the kiwi. I've used several different flavors of yogurt, but usually stick to vanilla, raspberry, or strawberry. I am going to try adding things like wheat germ or flax this summer when I start making smoothies again.... -- posted by qotw13

Pineapple Kiwi Mango Salsa

I developed this recipe because I wanted something a little different from the usual pineapple mango salsas out there. It's sweetness complements the spiciness of another dish very well....for example, It went really well with our ZWT3 team's jerk recipe! The jerk recipe is Recipe #234216, if you want to check that out. But, I think this salsa is also good by itself. Cooking time does not include time to let the salsa sit and absorb the flavors. -- posted by Annisette

Kiwifruit Muffins

I've been wanting to experiment with putting kiwi in quickbread for a while, so when they finally went on sale, I snagged several to make muffins with. After a lot of searching, I found a few recipes, and combined pieces of those with some of my own ideas to create these muffins. I just tried one out of the oven, and must say that it came out quite well :) I will warn you, though: these are not an overly sweet muffin, so if you're looking for a cupcake wanna-be, this is definitely not it! The diced kiwi lend a bit of tartness that really help to make these unique. -- posted by qotw13

This is from the best book EVER if you want to feed extremely healthy and yummy food to your baby or toddler: Super Baby Food.

This recipe is "super" because it packs a nutritional punch. The Vitamin C in the kiwi works well with the calcium in the cottage cheese and the iron in the wheat germ. You can substitute banana for the kiwi and yogurt or yogurt cheese for the cottage cheese.
Tropical Fruit Trifle

After I tasted the cake, it was too delicious to even consider trashing, so I came up with this instead. I suppose you could use any tropical fruit, I just used what I had on hand.
Pavlova With Whipped Cream and Fresh Fruit

Pavlova is a traditional to Australians and New Zealanders that was apparently created in honour of the ballerina Anna Pavlova, when she toured in those parts. It is basically a delicate mountain of whipped meringue. After being baked under low heat, the outside shell gets crunchy, the top gets browned, but the inside stays chewy and soft - like creamy fresh marshmallow. It then gets piled high with softly whipped cream and fresh fruit. The result is dreamy, with the consistency of a cream-smothered cloud. -- posted by Chef #1008075

Use It or Lose It Smoothie

I bought a ton of fresh fruit at the start of the week and it is now Saturday and there is the odd bit of fruit still left in the fridge that must not have much time left in it. I hate throwing food away but know I won't get to eating it all one bit at a time before it goes off. So, I threw it all in the smoothie maker and decided to see what would happen. I ended up really enjoying the results. I used Greek yoghurt because it is what I had and my lactose intolerance doesn't flair up if I use it. I am sure you could use any fat free yoghurt though. This made two big smoothies for me but could easily be four smaller ones. -- posted by Sarah_Jayne

Superfruit Smoothie

My absolute favorite smoothie - banana, kiwi, mango, peach, and clementine! When fresh fruit is in season, I like to play around with different combinations, but this is the one that I make the most. Not only does it taste absolutely amazing, but it is loaded with natural nutrition too; Vitamins B & C, potassium, dietary fiber, omega-3 F.A.s, antioxidants, calcium...much more wholesome (and yummier!) than a vitamin pill in my opinion. And because of the fiber and protein, it is filling enough to be a hearty snack or a meal substitute. Before you get too excited, a quick word of warning about the kiwi - if you eat too much at once it can make your mouth feel tingly and raw (yes... I've had this happen. I can't help myself!) I hope you like this smoothie as much as I do! :) -- posted by Oenophilly

This recipe is easy to make and a little different from your usual lamb recipes. Buy chops that have the filet attached, not shoulder chops. They should be apprx 1" thick. Fry for 4 minutes each side for slightly pink. Longer if you want well done. Make the sauce early in the day (or the day before) and reheat while you are cooking the chops.
Kiwi, Strawberry and Grape Juice.

I got this recipe from 'The top 100 juices' by Sarah Owen, published by Lifetime Distributors, Castle Hill, Australia.
Sarah Owen says "All three fruits in this juice provide a massive infection-fighting boost of vitamin C and can help to shorten the duration of a cold. The kiwi fruit a also contain lutein, a phytonutrient known to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and eye disease. Both strawberries and grapes are high in ellagic acid, which neutralizes carcinogens. The tannins, flavones and active compounds in the grapes combine to make them energizing and strengthen the cell walls of blood vessels"
You could make more than one serving, and serve with lemonade and ice in a punch bowl for a party if desired.
I haven't made this yet, as I don't have a juicer, but if I ever get one, this will be the first juice that I make.
Enjoy! :) -- posted by TALIA #3
