The mashed potatoes in this recipe have a distinct flavor owing to the mustard oil used. Its a quick and easy dish and can tantalise your taste buds.. -- posted by Shweta_S

Quinoa Fritters

I created this recipe when I was on a highly restricted diet for 5 months, but I loved it so much that I adapted it a little and it's now a staple for us. It goes especially well with soup. They are also really good dipped in pretty much any kind of mustard, and my little one year old boy loves them. Feel free to experiment with any kind of rice you have on hand for this. I've used 11 different types of rice for it, and each time it was wonderful. It's a simple side dish, and sure to please anyone that comes through my door for a snack or a meal. -- posted by Canning_Queen

Garlic and Oregano Pizza Dough

I used this for a pizza party I had recently, and it was a huge hit! It works best with white pizzas (using olive oil and herbs or pesto as a sauce). The crust is amazingly tasty, and quite flavorful. It also cooks up incredibly crispy on the outside, and tender and chewy on the inside. It's a perfect pizza dough. -- posted by Obsidian468

Date and Chickpea Cous Cous

This was a throw together I made one night that turned out brilliantly. You can adjust the seasonings to your taste... just remember the stock and cous cous should be equal quantities. Great blend of sweet, sour and spicy. It's quick, filling, nutritious and will keep for a few days in the fridge - nice cold as well. To make vegan just omit butter. -- posted by Malaliu

A dear friend shared this recipe with me many years ago. The recipe became a favorite & I have used it for everything over the years. It has made it way to many a Girl Scout mtg, school party, potluck, etc. Tea Cakes became my family's favorite cookie at the holidays. It isn't Christmas without a platter of these & a bag for everyone to take home. They are good plain and sweeter with the glaze & icing. -- posted by Susie D

From Company's Coming - made it for dinner tonight and I loved it, especially since it didn't have any canned soup in it like many similar ones.
The "best" Meatloaf Ever!

My mother got this from my grandmother and her mother. The word meatloaf just doesn't sound appealing, but after making it for my husband for the first time, he was in love. Now everytime I make meatloaf he is on top of the world. This dish is even a child pleaser as my 4 year old daughter is begging for seconds. To make it a little healthier, I use a loaf pan with an insert so that the oil and grease from the beef drain away and the meatloaf is not sitting in it. -- posted by Pumpkin Pie's Mommy

Jamie Oliver Mac N Cheese

Jamie: ''Mac 'n' cheese' is a classic American pasta dish - everyone loves it. Sometimes it's done so badly in the convenience area, it's almost become famous for being horrible, but when you do it properly, trust me, it's an absolute killer. Feel free to use any tubular pasta you want. I've made this dish my own by lightening it with sweet tomatoes and given it some crunch with delicious breadcrumbs. Just you wait till you try it!

This dish isn't going to win any prizes in the nutrition department, but you can, and should, balance it with a nice salad. If you only have it once in a while as a special treat it'll do you no harm."

Haven't tried it yet but it sounds so good so posted for safe keeping.. Preperation and cooking time are estimates -- posted by mamaDlicious

Pakistani Style Bhindi Ka Salan (Okra/Ladyfinger Curry)

Back in the days when I was a child every time my mother made this dish it was considered a treat among me & my siblings. Besides potatoes & peas, okra/ladyfinger is another all time favorite vegetable among the Pakistani population. It is usually served with roti/chapatti & yogurt or sometimes with Masoor Dal (lentil) here is the recipe of a basic okra curry that was passed down from my grandmother to my mom & down to me. It’s the tomatoes that give it a different taste compared to the other recipes posted so far.

Note if you want to make "Bhindi Gosht" (Okra curry with mutton) after frying the onions add mutton, let it cook on medium low heat for 20 minutes, then follow the rest of the recipe. You can also add 1/2 cup water to make it a little saucy. -- posted by Bint e Naeem

Fluffy "cut-Out" Sugar Cookies

Have you ever had those sugar cookies at publix that are really fluffy and cake like? Well hear is that recipe. I think its the sour cream that makes it so fluffy. I also roll them out maybe 1/4 in thick and under cook them a little but thats probably a personal preference. They do take a little work just like any cut-out cookies but this is something that anytime I ask someone in our family what I can bring for dessert they always say this! I use my kitchen aid but before that I would use my hand blender as long as I could and then mix the last part of the flour in by hand. Hope you enjoy. -- posted by 998171

A delicious 'unfried' chicken recipe, that is so simple, and tastes so good that you won't believe that it's only 6 Ww points per serving. Also good for those watching their cholesterol levels!

Cheesy Party Pasta

A great dish to make if you are having lots of company or to take to a potluck. Add whatever you think you would like. I have made this in a large chafing dish and served it at a birthday party. You can also make this in a large foil or hotel tray. OR scale it down to have just with your family. I always use low fat ingredients, but this works with full fat products as well. Serve with crusty rolls and salad.
Moist Pumpkin Spice Bread

This may be the most delicious pumpkin bread recipe I've ever baked. I came up with this for my brother's 18th birthday and it has been devoured in just two days. I believe the applesauce in the recipe is what makes it so ooey-gooey moist. It's also low in fat as the applesauce replaces the oil that would normally be used. The recipe makes two loaves, one of which can be frozen or given to a friend. -- posted by EntirelyEmily
