Chocolate Liqueur

This recipe came from Josephina, a dear friend, when we lived in Naples Italy. If you can't find grain alcohol, you could get away with using vodka. You'll want to use it within a few weeks or shake it up every now and again since it tries to settle.

Limoncello (Lemoncello, Limoncella)

Limoncello, Sicily's signature liqueur, is easy to make at home. Perfect for those hot summer days... a cool explosion of the senses. This is the best Limoncello recipe I have come across, I think the secret that makes this one stand apart is the addition of the zest from one lime. Please use organic lemons and limes for this recipe. If they are not organic soak them in water for 1/2 an hour or so before zesting. Also it has been pointed out that it is best to use under-ripe fruit. Once made... there are so many uses; spiking lemonade, flavoring cocktails and splashing onto ice cream, poundcake or fresh fruit. You can substitute the peel of 15 limes for the lemon peel. Total time: 30 minutes, plus at least 4 weeks infusing time -- posted by NcMysteryShopper

My new favorite Martini. I'm a lover of gin and Campari and the 2 of these together is seductive.
Campari's an Italian alcoholic aperitif obtained from the infusion of bitter herbs, aromatic plants and fruit in alcohol and water. Secret recipe originally developed in 1860 by Gaspare Campari in Milan. With its distinct red color, aroma and flavor, Campari is a symbol of passion.

Limoncello Lavender and Vanilla Cream Liqueur

I came up with this variation of this limoncello which is lusciously creamy with the essence of vanilla and lavender. After making Kim's Recipe #296066. This is to be sipped icy cold on a hot summers day with your eye closed. Relax Ahhhhh!
Making it a comforting excellent aperitif. Served chilled from the freezer in a frosted liqueur glass. Keep refrigerated with in 1 month of freezer 6 months.
Try to use 100-proof vodka, which has less flavor than a lower proof one. Also the high alcohol level will ensure that the limoncello will not turn to ice in the freezer. -- posted by ~Rita~

Limoncello

Looks like it takes some effort to make but gosh does this sound good! This came from a blogger named Patty on the vox site. Sounds like she knows what she is talking about. Her recommendations: Use only the best lemons, ones whose skins give off a lemon sent and smell heavenly. A neighborhood lemon tree is ideal. If not, go organic. Also, make a large batch as it will go quickly once friends get a taste. Makes great gifts. I am posting this for ZWT4 per a teammates request. -- posted by Kitchen Witch Steph

Limoncello

Traditionally served in the hot summer months, this also makes an excellent sipper during the cooler months of fall and winter when you may want to reminisce with a taste of summer. This is so easy to make--just make sure to plan ahead because it does take some time. It also makes a fantastic hostess gift or stocking stuffer. If you can find Meyer lemons, use them in this recipe; they add a wonderfully fruity flavor and aroma to the finished drink. If they are not available, standard-issue lemons from the grocery will work out just fine. Make sure your lemons are washed well to remove any stamping or wax; and when removing the zest, long strips work out best and are easiest to strain out of the finished product.
EXTRA: To get the most out of your lemons, juice them after removing the zest. Strain out the seeds, freeze the juice in ice cube trays and then transfer to a freezer bag. They will keep for several months and each cube will yield about a tablespoon of juice whenever you need it.
Enjoy ice-cold as is or mix with club soda or sparkling wine; also tasty drizzled over fresh fruit or sliced pound cake for a quick dessert. -- posted by Hungry Hogareno

Toast your good health and a prosperous New Year with this wonderful cocktail. This is based on a drink served at a bar in San Francisco called the "Bourbon & Branch". The original recipe calls for bourbon, but I like the rye whiskey with the dashes of two different bitters. You make the choice!! Averna Amaro is a wonderful Italian liquor made with herbs, roots, and citrus rinds, and a caramel flavor added for sweetness...perfect on its own or just about any cocktail you can throw it in. -- posted by Alan in SW Florida

Creative Cocktail! Soemthing different. Perfect drink for a wedding or other fanciful occasion. Picture everyone on the villa lawn enjoying their drinks--heels kicked off, tes loosened, and laughter fading into the sunset. If you don't have limoncello, increase the lemon juice 3/4 ounce each. -- posted by College Girl
