Pink Perfection Juice

This is a favorite of ours at breakfast and brunch parties. This drink has a beautiful hot pink color and great flavor that children especially enjoy. For a slightly sweeter drink, add up to 2 tablespoons sugar to the recipe. The drink can be enjoyed right away or chilled overnight. -- posted by Mirj

I made this with my children after trying to find something they could help with in the kitchen.
Tropical fruit smoothie

This is a summer favorite in our family. The kids just can't seem to get enough of it! Whatever fresh fruit you have on hand--make as much or as little as you like, though I suggest making it in single servings, or adding a bit of lemon so it doesn't turn brown in the fridge. This is my favorite fruit combo: -- posted by canarygirl

Creamsicle Freeze

EXACTLY like the Orange Julius in the mall, without the stomach curdling mixture of acidic orange juice and milk/ice cream.... I also included variations including different fruit, like PEACHES & CREAM, STRAWBERRIES & CREAM, etc. I tried for years to figure out this recipe, beginning at around age 12! I finally got it one day at age 25 and now my 11 year old daughter whips them up for herself and friends after school or for breakfast. -- posted by -JL-

Banana "Smoothie" for Babies Who Need Fattening Up

We went to my 9 month old's appt. today and she has dropped from the 50th to the 25th percentile in weight. I am breastfeeding her, and she doesn't like formula, but her nurse practitioner urged me to find a way to sneak it into her diet if I could to supplement her nursing and other foods, as she needs the extra calories and nutrition. I came home and whipped this up. My daughter is a banana fiend and snarfed it right down-- two sippy cups full of it! I hope this recipe, or a variant thereof, might help someone in a similar situation. I pre-mash bananas in the blender or my Kitchen Aid in bulk and freeze them in ice cube trays for later mixing with cereal or other foods I want my daughter to eat. -- posted by ketchupqueen

Banana Smoothie

I came across this recipe in a cookbook. Its great for infants.
The beginning of the fifth month is the right age for introducing weaning and supplementary foods (feeding in addition to breast milk) to your baby's diet. Strained soups, juices or mashed rice is the best food to begin with. However remember to introduce only a single fruit or vegetable at the initial stage and gradually accustom your baby to a combination of them.
Bananas are a very baby friendly fruit and one of the very few that babies can eat raw. Bananas when combined with curds and orange juice in this velvety concoction provide your baby with energy, carbohydrates, iron, calcium, vitamin A and vitamin C. -- posted by Kirthika

Wild organic blueberries are jam packed with Vitamin K, Manganese, Antioxidants and anthocyanins. They have been shown to lower Cholesterol and are good for anti-aging.

Kefir has "several major strains of friendly bacteria not commonly found in yogurt, Lactobacillus Caucasus, Leuconostoc, Acetobacter species, and Streptococcus species. It also contains beneficial yeasts, such as Saccharomyces kefir and Torula kefir, which dominate, control and eliminate destructive pathogenic yeasts in the body." (Kefir.net)

Morning Smoothies for Two

A great way to start the day or you could make it as an afternoon snack for an energy boost. This has it all: potassium from the banana, antioxidants from the blueberries, Vitamin A from the peaches, calcium from the yogurt and milk, and Omega-3s from the flax seed.
Delicious Organic Green Smoothy

When my breastfed daughter was around 10 months I started noticing something wasnt quite right, so I went to my Midwife & it turns out I had extremely low iron. Normal is 12 & I was at 7. She told me to be sure to eat my leafy greens, we'll in the hot humidity of South Western Florida the cooler your food is the better! This is so good, my daughter & I drink one every other day now & my iron level is up to a 13 after just one month!!! I can just imagine what its done for her!

I have tried many variations to switch it up a little, adding yogurt makes for a smoother texture (and the active cultures never hurt) Apple Juice can be substituted if you dont have OJ in the house. Mango (i used frozen to avoid the prep) Use your imagination -- posted by mrs.cubana
