Indonesian Loempia's

Indonesian Pork

I'm not sure where I found this recipe, but it sounded so weird to me at the time, I just had to try it. I do alot of outdoor cooking on the grill. I'm lucky enough to have a Big Green Egg out on my deck to cook on. It is a ceramic barbecue with a fire brick interior and uses charcoal. You can use a gas grill, too... just be sure to try this recipe. You will be pleasantly surprise -- posted by luvmybge

Sate Babi (Or Ayam)

This is what we call a sweet sate and the chili paste that I add does not really belong in this recipe. Can be made with chicken breasts and then it is called Sate Ayam. Here it usually served with a ketjap peanut sauce and prawn crackers, it can be an appetizer, snack or a side dish when part of an Indonesian rijsttafel. If you cannot get the sweet soy sauce, use regular and add some brown sugar. Marinating time is not included. -- posted by Pets'R'us

Indonesian Chicken

Don't get on my case if this isn't authentically Indonesian, okay? When I found the recipe, it was called Indonesian Chicken, and, not being Indonesian or knowing anyone from Indonesia, I can neither confirm nor deny that this is, indeed, Indonesian Chicken. It is, however, definitely a recipe for chicken, and a mighty tasty one at that. The peanut sauce is also useful to put on things that you don't want to serve naked, such as noodles, rice, or steamed veggies. -- posted by ThatBobbieGirl

Spicy Indonesian Pork Satay (Or Chicken)

One teaspoon of dried red pepper flakes with give you a mild heat flavor for more spice then increase the pepper flakes. Plan ahead the pork needs to marinade 8-24 hours. Make certain to soak the wooden skewers a minimum of 30 minutes before threading and grilling. Serve with favorite dipping sauce or you can use whatever leftover marinade that you have after basting the satay as a dipping sauce if desired. Make certain to use only low-sodium soy sauce for this recipe, also if you are using peanuts in place of peanut butter they must be unsalted. The recipe may be doubled but divided into two separate recipes and the pork marinated in two separate bowls. This will work well on on an indoor grill or oven broiler heat. For dipping sauce see recipe#143558 -- posted by KITTENCAL

Authentic Balinese Indonesian Satay Chicken

This is amazing! I got this recipe from a lady I met on my honeymoon in Bali. It's Indonesian home cooking so it's more authentic than the Satay you could try in the restaurants. To make this dish quicker to prepare, you could use unsalted peanut butter instead of roasting and peeling the peanuts. Oh and if you don't like your food spicy, use only 1 chilie or omit them all together. Enjoy! -- posted by Natalia #3

Risoles (Indonesian Style of Rissole)

Risoles is one of popular appetizers in Indonesia. It looks similar with spring rolls but the how to make it is a little bit different. Also the taste. In Indonesia you can easily get this snack without even bother to spend your time in the kitchen. They sell it in the market, bakery, or even along the street.

The name Risoles is borrowed over from the traditional Portuguese rissole. A rissole is a small croquette, enclosed in pastry or rolled in breadcrumbs, usually baked or deep fried. It is filled with sweet or savoury ingredients, most often minced meat or fish, and is served as an entrée, dessert or side dish. -- posted by IndoFoody

The Best Indonesian Peanut Sauce

This recipe comes from the vegetarian times and is actually a vegan recipe, though I am not either of those things :-). I made this because I just LOVE peanut sauces and this is the best one I have had, not to mention how simple it was to make! I used reduced fat peanut butter and it didn't seem to affect the recipe at all. It will keep up to a week or so in the fridge and personally, I like to either toss it with noodles and chicken or serve it with chicken chunks over brown rice. I don't like things spicy and this was perfect. I also saute the chicken chunks in 1 tsp sesame oil just to enhance the flavor. It makes quite a bit of sauce, I would say it serves 6! Enjoy! -- posted by Quistis145
