Easy Seashell Krab Salad

Sushiman's Sick Salad

Every year, on Israel's Independence Day, we all go off and have a barbeque in a public park together with friends and family. Every year, without fail, my Sushiman makes his Sick Salad. Sushiman is British, so sick means barf. And it really does look like barf. People rave about it, although I wouldn't know, I really can't bring myself to eat it, although that one time I did taste it (with my eyes closed), it was actually pretty tasty! At the request of a few brave souls in the Jewish forum, here it is, in all it's glorious, barfy splendor! -- posted by Mirj

Carolina Veranda Lemonade (Alcoholic)

Vampire Deterrent

I got this recipe originally from my old next-door neighbor. I watched her make it one Friday in 3 minutes flat, and when she took the cover off her food processor the heavenly smell of garlic just wafted throughout the house and killed every vampire in the neighborhood. My neighbor calls this Moroccan Zchug, my friends call it That-Yummy-Garlic-Stuff and I just smile and pile it on barbecued meats, baked potatoes, whatever. I actually happen to like vampires -- my father was born in Transylvania -- so I hope none are offended by this recipe. Just a boring little note here: there are two kinds of people in this world, cilantro lovers and cilantro haters. I belong to the former, Sushiman to the latter. If you are like Sushiman, just sub parsley for the cilantro. Since I let him put a ring on my finger and pay for my electricity, I've been making it with parsley instead and it's just as good. -- posted by Mirj

Caraway Cabbage With Sausage and Potatoes

Sticky Grilled Drumsticks With Spicy/Sweet Plum Sauce

Food & Wine Magazine, August 2008 edition. From Pairing of the Day: August 2008, Great Chicken Recipes: Wings, Breasts, Drumsticks and Thighs. Grace Parisi prepares a wonderfully sticky and nicely sweet glaze of fresh plums and red pepper jelly to brush over drumsticks while grilling. Hot red pepper jelly makes for a spicier glaze, sweet pepper jelly creates a milder one. We opted for the milder one because we made it for the home but we made a batch of the spicier glaze for us and it was wonderful! This is a fantastic and tasty recipe for the grill and the summer.Suggested wine: Juicy Primitivo: 2006 . Serve with the drumsticks, corn on the cob with any of the outrageous butter recipes on zaar, a yummy mixed-greens salad with garbanzo beans, bacon, sesame seeds and a champagne vinaigrette, and then for dessert something chocolate and DECADENT! ;) -- posted by Manami

Old-Fashioned Lemon Verbena Lemonade Syrup

Pull up a hammock, select a good book and make a jug of this cooling lemonade to refresh you as you gently sway and wile away the long, hot hours! A simple zingy lemonade syrup that is added to water to dilute and is compulsory for hot, humid days! Lemon Verbena is one of my favourite herbs and is a welcome addition to my walled herb garden here in France. The syrup is also amazing if poured over ice creams and summer berries for a tangy citrus flavour.
A roasted garlic and red pepper relish replaces the usual pickle in this Spanish take on hot dogs. from Bon Appetit. AMAZING! These are super if you would like to do a grown up spin on hot dogs. Manchego is a Spanish cheese made from sheep's ml; available at some supermarkets and at specialty food stores. -- posted by College Girl

Gourmet Cheddar Hot Dogs With Cider Braised Leeks and Apples

Leeks and apples simmered in cider add a hint of sweetness-- nice contrast to the sharp melted cheddar. If you can find oblong pretzel rolls at your market, they'll make an ideal accompaniment to these English-style hot dogs. -- posted by College Girl

These always go over well at my summer barbecues and Picnics. It's not the Normal presentation for crab salad but that's what people love about it -- posted by GingerlyJ
