Fragrant Linen Water

I will never be a domestic goddess, I like cooking but I hate ironing!! Spraying this on the pieces to be ironed makes that dreadful task a bit more bearable! The classic fragrance for this is lavender, but I make up different fragrances all the time, but do choose a clear and not dark colored oil. At the moment I have a mix of lemon and rosemary in the bottle. So far it has never stained any clothes, just make sure you shake the bottle before use. Years ago I received it as a present, now I give this away as a present and it is always appreciated! If it goes cloudy it is not abnormal, some essential oils do that. -- posted by Pets'R'us

Wonderful Kitchen Sink Scrub That Makes Your Sink Glow!

My wonderful Auntie Karen(Chef Yogi) has been so generous and kind to me. She sent me over half a dozen awesome essential oils which is something I have been wanting for so many months!! She sent me this wonderful easy recipe that was listed on www.make-stuff.com I have just finished making this and using it in my horribly dirty sink and now, I have the most clean and glowing sink I have ever seen in my kitchen! Nobody would believe I haven't used even a little Vim or Jif tonight to clean my sink if they saw it. Something so easy as this, and using just 4 ingredients is a true winner and a sure keeper in my book. Hope this will make you as happy as it made me! I am going to use this as long as these oils last!;) In my opinion, this would make a nice gift to give a would-be bride or your best friend for that matter or your neighbour or mom or MIL. Whoever you gift this to, is going to love you for it! ENJOY! -- posted by Charishma Ramchandani

Scented Rocks

Place these homemade rocks in a bowl or dish to scent your room. This is a nice alternative to potpourri! Recipe from www.make-stuff.com I dusted my scented rocks with some cocoa powder and they look so tempting now, you would believe that they are some edible coloured cookies. This will be nice fun to have around on April Fools Day! -- posted by Charishma Ramchandani

Orange-Clove Pomanders

Pomanders were originally metal or ivory filigree balls filled with spices fixed with ambergris, hence the name (from the French "pomme d'ambre", or apple of ambergris). Having a bowl of these fragrant oranges (or lemons) near an entryway or on a kitchen table is one of my favorite and easiest holiday decorating traditions. Prep time depends on how the size of the fruit; the smaller, the quicker it will harden and dry.
P.S. - don't eat 'em - they're just for fragrance! -- posted by EdsGirlAngie

Teresa's Homemade Smell Gels

Smell gels, a bag of pot pourri (matching scent, of course!), a variety of flavored teas or coffees, and some freshly baked cookies make the perfect gift basket. Great for birthdays, holidays, house warmings, or for those times when someone special needs a Pick-Me-Up. Glass votive jars come in lots of attractive patterns, shapes and sizes, and are very inexpensive. The yield of this recipe depends on size of jars used. Smell Gels must sit overnight to fully solidify. -- posted by TGirl,RN

Homemade Linen and Sweater Protector & Cedar Chest Revitaliser

Over time, cedar chests and closets lose their awesome cedar smell. Also, the cedarwood becomes dry. This solution revitalises cedar wood and brings back that lovely cedar smell. This recipe is from the book, "The Good Earth Bath, Beauty and Health Book" by Casey Kellar. Enjoy!
Christmas Scent

This makes an excellent gift. Make sure you make some for yourself too though because it really smells wonderful. Please note, you need to use whole cloves. Ground cloves are much stronger and will definitely overwhelm the other scents. If you aren't a fan of cloves, feel free to leave them out entirely. I do sometimes. -- posted by Marg (CaymanDesigns)

Citron (Etrog) Pomander

The etrog (citron) is a citrus fruit that is used by Jews every year during the holiday of Sukkot (late September, early October, depending on the lunar calendar). It's entire purpose during the week-long holiday is to smell nice. Yes, that's it, we just smell the thing. After the holiday is over you can chop up the etrog and make jam. What I like to do is to stud it with cloves and then use it as the most aromatic besamim for the havdalah service signifying the end of the Sabbath. Aside from the etrog and the cloves, you will need a thin crochet hook to pierce the fruit before sticking in the clove. I use a 0.75 hook, but a 1.00 will work just as well. These babies last for years, and if you already have one or two (or ten or eleven, as is the case in my house), they make lovely gifts. BTW, you can also use a lemon or an orange, the results are the same, just shaped differently. -- posted by Mirj
