Epilation Worries - Bye Bye!

This is from this week's Weekend magazine. It's from Rima Soni's Q AND A column. Rima Soni has suggested this treatment for someone who had epilated her face 6 years ago and then bleached it the same day. However, since it did not show results, she bleached it again and left it for a longer time. Now she is left with a dark patch. She did all this to get rid of her excess facial hair. I hope this will help some of you who have the same problem, but, did not know how to tackle it:) -- posted by Charishma Ramchandani

Homemade Clove Mouthwash

This is from the book Natural Beauty At Home by Janice Cox. I've just made and used this for myself. It did burn me a little on my lips, but the burning sensation was gone when I rinsed my mouth with clean water. This mouthwash(which has anesthetic properties due to the clove oil in it) is good to use if you have sensitive teeth and gums. I hope you love this as much as I did! -- posted by Charishma Ramchandani

Homemade Prickly-Heat/Rash Fighting Powder

This powder is awesome to use in the hot summer months when prickly heat/rash breaks out on the body due to excessive perspiration. It's best to stay cool at such a time. To do that, use this powder to stay cool and dry. I like to make a batch of this and store it in my refrigerator, so that when I apply this, I feel light and cool! Also, wear light clothing made from natural fibres such as cotton. My mom has always made me a new cotton lingerie ever since I can recall for every summer:-) This recipe is from the book Natural Beauty At Home by Janice Cox. -- posted by Charishma Ramchandani

Lavender Vanilla Bath Salts

Escape into tranquillity and pamper yourself and give to friends that need to unwind. Epsom salts will soothe tired muscles, while gently softening the water for a luxurious bath experience. Glycerin a skin moisturizer can be found at health food stores, some drug stores, or major department stores depending on where you live. Its also available on the Internet. I used Epsom, salt but feel free to use Sea and or Kosher Salt. I made this for my DD's Bridal shower as favors. I upped the recipe to 20 pound of salts. Placed yellow and blue (wedding colors) salts in 50 wine glasses topping with plasic wrap which you can't see and then topped with satin trimmed toule held on with thank you ribbon.
Optional: I also placed whole vanilla pods with some salt in a coffee grinder till fine. The aroma's are heavenly! -- posted by ~Rita~

Insomnia Tea

These herbs are known for helping relax and make you sleepy. Drink this before bedtime and get a good nights sleep! The original recipe calls for 1 1/2 oz Vervain leaves, but Zaar won't let vervain go through so I have modified it. Please feel free to use the vervain, it is good for nervousness, will tone up the system, good for stomach troubles. Adapted from Herbal Teas. This may be put in a jar with directions and given as a gift too, perhaps with some bath crystals and a good book! You may also use valerian instead or with the vervain. Look in your health food stores for these teas. -- posted by Sharon123

Creamy Smooth Body and Hand Cream

Chef #248023 inspired me to make this after I made her Recipe #256951.
Shea butter is known for its cosmetic properties as a moisturizer and emollient. As well as an anti-inflammatory agent. Shea butter can be effective at treating the following conditions: fading scars, eczema, burns, rashes, acne, severely dry skin, blemishes, dark spots, skin discolorations, chapped lips, stretchmarks, wrinkles and in lessening the irritation of psoriasis. Also provides natural UV sun protection but don't rely on it as a sunscreen because it filters out only little amounts of UV rays. Shea butter absorbs rapidly into the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. It can be bought on line.

Herb Bubble Bags (Disposable)

These oatmeal/herbs bags are perfect for 8 - 10 bath or showers. Oatmeal is so soothing on the skin. When looking for a dried herb, some possibilities are chamomile, marshmellow root, soapwort, chickweed. The computer would not recognize "part" so I gave it T.
Extra Soothing and Aromatic Bath Salts With Milk

Holidays can be an expensive time of year for anyone. Here are some options to making your own bath salts. These make perfect gifts for anyone (teachers, grandparents, friends, family, etc.) and kids can make them too since all the ingredients are natural - just watch the coloring! I made them as side-gifts this past Christmas and they went over so well I was told I should be selling them! I even had a friend that mad them as gifts for her bridal party! I make these for myself all the time, sometimes for a single bath at a time! They will leave your bathroom smelling wonderful for hours. -- posted by HeathersArk

Fire Cider (Cold, Flu and Sore Muscles)

This is a recipe from my sister. She is studying natural (herbal) medicine. She uses this in the cold season. It does NOT need to be refrigerated, but does take 2 months to cure before you can use it. She mixed up a batch for me yesterday, but it won't be ready for 2 months. She recommends putting parchment paper over the mouth of the canning jar before putting the lid on, to prevent the metal from rusting due to the vinegar. If you can't find organic vinegar, get the kind with the "mother" in it. I use Bragg's.
Horseradish is antibacterial, and expectorant and a digestive aid. Garlic is antibact.and great for the immune system and colds and infections. Ginger eases nausea, colds and congestion. Cayenne is anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant, aids digestion and circulation. And onions have a zillion health benefits!
