Chocolate-Peppermint Pattie Cookies

A co-worker made this recipe for a cookie swap years ago, and they have been one of my favorite holiday cookies ever since then. I haven't tried it, but freezing the peppermint patties might make it easier to shape the dough around the them. -- posted by *Kathy*

Mrs. Kern's Date Balls

As a child, my parents traveled quite a bit and a retired couple (Mr. and Mrs. Kern) would stay with us kids. I'm sure keeping 4 kids busy wasn't easy, and Mrs. Kern would make these no-bake treats for us. It's a simple-to-prepare recipe, one that Mrs. Kern allowed us to help make — we were in charge of rolling the date balls in coconut. -- posted by *Kathy*

Pumpkin Biscotti With White Chocolate

I included them on my Christmas cookie platters this year, and everyone made a point of telling me how good they were. I found the recipe on the web. The raisins were my idea. Dried cranberries would be as good, if not much, much better. Or leave them out completely. Both light and dark brown sugar work beautifully, although I think I like the dark brown sugar version just a tiny tad more. I used good-quality white chocolate chips mixed with about 1/2 teaspoon of shortening for the drizzle. And if you can, use freshly ground nutmeg. Also, you can use up to 3/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries. Any way you try it, I think you'll love them. (Time does not include chilling time.) -- posted by Charmed

Pizza Frita

This has long been a family tradition as an appetizer during the holidays. It's not the most healthy of foods, but is healthier than many other fried dough recipes out there since it's quick fried, and soaks up a lot less of the oil it's fried in. This is a recipe that's always a pleaser, and quite tasty when dipped in some sugar, or even by itself. The anchovy paste variant is my favorite. It doesn't taste like anchovy at all - instead it has a quite pleasant flavor, and almost omits the need for sugar dipping the finished product. -- posted by Obsidian468

Liz's Chocolate Turtle Cake.

My father's a Chef. We made this the other day and it was great. I asked for measurements (sense he doesn't measure, all he does is pour in) and he gave to me. Hope you guys like. If your wondering what "spread caramel within 1" from the edge. Spread to within 1", means you want to leave a plain one inch border around the edges. Also, How did we cut the squares so perfectly? All we used was a sharp knife (that we dipped and wiped dry, every time) in hot water. Hope this helps, if you have any questions, let me know... Enjoy!!! -- posted by .Liz.(Daddy's little Chef)

My Christmas Ham

Dycio Crescents

Cream Wafers

These are my most favorite cookies. I bake them for holidays and special occasions. My family absolutely loves them as well. If you read the ingredients, you might not be able to envision how decadent these really are. They are very light and flaky, resemble a puff pastry, and practically melt in your mouth. You can use them plain, or fill them with special frosting. They taste great either way, but of course are much richer with the filling.
Liz's Peppermint Kisses.

You will love these for Christmas. My dad taught me this recipe, if I can do it (I have lousy hands...lol), you can do it. How did I get the sprinkles and dragées to stick? I used a thin coating of brown rice syrup that I painted on with a small brush (brown rice syrup is a liquid sweetener made from brown rice, that is just about half as sweet as sugar). Serving size really depends on how big or small you make them, I put 20 as an estimate. Have fun and enjoy!!! -- posted by .Liz.(Daddy's little Chef)

Cinnamon Twists

My aunt used to make these cookies when I was younger, and I liked them enough to have my mother get the recipe for them. My aunt died not long after, and the recipe was misplaced. It recently resurfaced, so I'm submitting it to Zaar so it doesn't get lost again.

(Unfortunately the recipe doesn't say how large or thick the dough circles should be, so some experimentation might be necessary! I've also guessed at the cooking time - please watch your cookies!) -- posted by CassiaDawn

Secret Ingredient Spinach Artichoke Dip

This dip is always a big hit at parties!! I've been told by many that it's the best spinach artichoke dip that they have tasted. Like many dishes it should be seasoned to your taste. Towards the end of cook time I add some seasonings, taste the dip on bread, and then add more seasonings as needed. The "secret ingredient" is really what makes this dip so creamy and delicious. -- posted by KeLynn

Mrs. Schneider's Date Nut Bread

This recipe came from a choir member more years ago than I wish to remember. It is the only date nut bread my family will eat. I'm putting it here for safe keeping as I have worn out several recipe cards for this one. While the ingredients may be the same as other breads, the preparation method is totally different. It will make 2 - 3 standard sized loaves and sometimes it may take a bit longer than the stated bake time. Prep time includes cooling time before baking. Cooking time includes the boiling and cooling time during prep. -- posted by Aubergine910
