Clone of a National Brand of Chili Powder

The chili powder I like has become impossible to find. I found out later that it's being discontinued. I bought a case of it a while ago but it's almost gone. So by using the ingredient label, the nutrition facts, and my digital scale I was able to come up with a pretty good copycat recipe. It's not quite as hot as the brand I used to buy but that can be fixed by adding more cayenne pepper. I'd rather have to add heat than to have it be too hot. I was mainly going for the actual flavor of the chili powder. -- posted by Chef # 8654321

Karen's Macaroni and Cheese Casserole

This was a meal that was thrown together and turned out fantastic. It really has that good homemade taste and can be used as a meal or a side dish.
***Please make sure you add or subtract anything you do not like in this reciepe. I use handfuls of shredded cheddar cheese rather than exact measurements because some people prefer to add more or less cheese.*** -- posted by Chef #1189822

Cheddar & Vegetable Pasta Bake

Soooo good! I found this in a Sargento Cheese Ad sometime in 1996. It tastes like veggie lasagna, could be a vegetarian main dish or a side for dinner. Or a Lenten specialty. I did have to thin the cream sauce out before I baked it because the dish thickens up quite a lot in the oven. You can use penne or other pasta but the bowties are really pretty. You can find a picture on the Sargento web site. -- posted by Jezski

Homemade pizza Egyptian style. Use my favorite dough recipe for this and roll them into little pies or any size you want. My hubby likes his with any salty olives also and any cheese works. The key here is the Egyptian meats :)

Cheesy Chicken & Veggie Mac

This is from Kraft Foods for the most part -- I have altered it quite a bit -- the original called for boxed mac-n-cheese and while both DH love the boxed dinner stuff, we love homemade more so assuming I have time, I make it this way and sometimes when I am busy I sub the Kraft dinner instead. I usually use broccoli and cauliflower for my veggies since that is what we like. Sometimes I use peas and we like that just as much! Also, the cayenne is not that much for us we like spicy -- if you don't cut it down or leave it out! :) Also, at the bottom of the directions, I will put my method for cooking chicken for recipes like this -- easy and good! Cook time for chicken is not included in prep time. -- posted by SarahBeth131

I am fussy about home baked mac and cheese and rarely want anything added to it beyond the basics but this one is delicious with its slightly smoky bacon which works beautifully with nutty gruyere cheese.
Not your typical pesto -- but outrageously delicious! This is my husband's grandmother's recipe. In 1986 it was published in a cookbook entitled *Italian Provincial Cookery* by Bea Lazzaro and Lotte Mendelsohn. Louisa was a shepherdess outside of Genoa before emigrating to Massachusetts early in the 20th century; she substituted cream cheese (more readily accessible) for sheep or goat cheese after arriving in America. -- posted by L'ecole

My Standard Lasagna

This is my basic easy lasagna. I either use homemade sauce or a really good quality store bought brand. There are four types of cheese in this recipe. If you like things spicy, by all means add a bit of crushed red pepper to the sauce or use spicy sausage. If I am adding sausage, I prefer to use mild turkey sausage in this, but it tastes really good with just ground beef too. -- posted by HeatherFeather

Classic Chili Poblano Rellenos

I love chili rellenos and with poblano chilies, they are super good! I hope you enjoy this classic recipe, using poblano chilies!
This chile pepper is often mislabeled 'Pasilla', which is a different pepper entirely. It is one of the most popular chiles in Mexico and has won the appreciation of many a chef worldwide because of the superior flavor it has over regular bell peppers.

They have a tough outer skin that usually requires roasting and peeling before use. These very large chile peppers are most popular in chiles rellenos recipes, but cooking with these as a substitute for bell peppers in any recipe will enhance the flavor. -- posted by Sharon123

Gebhardts Chili Powder (Copycat)

This is a copycat version of the famous Gebhardts Chili Powder. Your chili powder may taste a little bit different than Gebhardts (if you have bought it and know how it tastes) it depends on the potency of the ingrediates you buy.
Spaghetti Carbonara Ala Expat

unusual recipe with diced portabella mushrooms, green onions, red pepper flakes and bacon. i used 1% milk since i didn't have cream or half & half on hand and it worked great. in the interest of calories, I usually use the water i cooked the pasta with for the sauce anyways.

**Note! I made this recipe using half a box of pasta since that's what I had on hand.** I made it with farfalle and it was great.

I use a mix of the hard cheeses I have on hand-parmesan, pecorino, romano, etc. -- posted by Papagayita

This recipe makes 6 personal pizzas; serve 1 -2 pizzas per person. Pizzas can be kept warm in the oven or on a grill rack while the rest cook. Enjoy!!! This is one of the best pizzas I’ve ever tried! The recipe came from the Honolulu Advertiser back in 1999 from a restaurant called Al Forno’s. I clipped the article and forgot about it until just recently when I was going though and organizing my recipe cards. I tried it out and thought it was the best pizza I’ve ever tasted!!!
Homemade Hamburger Helper Mix Sodium Free

I found this somewhere on the web as I was searching for sodium-free alternatives for my DD. She loves stove top mix type meals, but they were absolutely off limits for her salt-free needs. This is a great substitute, easy to make and can be used to make a variety of different stove top meals. One recipe for an Italian skillet dinner is included below; I will add more as I try them. This makes enough for several dinners. Mix it up and store in a plastic container. -- posted by Messy44
