Desert Island Green Salad

A very simple salad with unique ingredients and a dressing that pulls it all together. When I'm all out of "standard" ingredients (i.e. salad veggies), it forces my creativity to surface or go hungry! -- posted by Picholine

Chicken, Mango, and Rice Salad

This is an awesome summer salad. The mix of the ingredients may seem odd, but I promise you everyone I have served it to has loved it. Hopefully you will, too. The Mango gives just enough sweetness to the dish, and the many textures and flavors work well together. You may adjust the amounts to your liking. I tend to like more fruit and cilantro with less rice. -- posted by Caseylaine

Tofu and Shrimp With Hoisin Sauce

This is a great appetizer, or pupu as they call them in Hawaii. Serve a platter of this with toothpicks. Decrease the amount of red pepper if you want it less spicy. This comes from Pupus, an Island Tradition by Sachi Fukuda. This makes about 4-6 appetizer servings -- posted by Hey Jude

Spicy Pineapple Fritters

These are savory fritters filled with pineapples, habanaro, chives, garlic, turmeric and are very addictive. Serve as an appetizer, top some grilled meats, seafood or a side to a salad. Diced red pepper mix along the pineapple would be very good in this as well. -- posted by ~Rita~

Loco Moco Hawaiian Style

Lived on Oahu for a few years, visited Lileha Bakery and fell in love with the Loco Moco, Spam Musubi, and Haupia pie. After making the very excellent beef patti Recipe #37413 by the papergoddess (Muchas Gracias Senora), I decided to make it into the Loco Moco. -- posted by K & W & c

Hawaiian Rice Ring
