Candy Bar Cookies

These cookies are absolutely amazing! My aunt made these one Christmas and I fell in love with them. They are so easy to make, and hey are always a party pleaser. You can also use any kind of mini candy bar. I have used mini Twix before. And I am sure 3 Musketeers and Milky Way are just as great! This original recipe was only for 24 cookies. So you can cut every thing in half. -- posted by Lhelms811

Scottish Shortbread

My grandmother brought this recipe from Scotland to Boston, MA in 1901. To this day, my family would not be caught with out having it on hand for a holiday. The kneading could take up to 20 minutes. Be patient... Put on some holiday music, share the process with someone you love and enjoy it. The results are worth it. -- posted by Karen's Krazy Kitchen

Surprise Packages

This was 2nd Place winner in the 1994 Chicago Tribune Holiday Cookie Contest. The baker: Carol Feezell. While I don't know Ms. Feezell, I most certainly admire her creativity and patience, and for difficulty she deserved first place. For the contest, she decorated the cookies with a confectioners' sugar/milk glaze, and then "package ribbons" of piped royal icing. They were adorable! She recommends high-quality individually wrapped rectangular shaped choccies, like Andes mints, Hershey's miniatures, or Lindt orange chocolate thins. I recommend buying an extra package of candies if your children are helping form them! -- posted by Cinnamom in Illinois

Grandma's Shortbread Cookies

This is a recipe for an amazingly dense and rich yet delicate cookie. You can't eat just one. When I make them, they're gone in a sitting and guests, family members and friends love and look forward to these. I can easily eat 10 in a row. The delicate nature is due to the cornstarch which most recipes I've come across do not include. They taste great with coffee and hot cocoa.

This recipe comes from the back of an old box of Benson's Cornstarch. I kept the empty box for years in the hopes of making them one day. I always double the recipe to make about 50 small cookies. -- posted by Kayla in Montreal

Only 2 ingredients and a candy bar in every bite! These cookies taste delicious, couldn't be easier and are a great way to use up leftover mini candy bars from your last holiday! The kids will love making these with you - you just wrap candy bars in cookie dough and bake. I love using Snickers with the peanut butter dough. Solid chocolate bars are the only candy that doesn't work well - just too much chocolate! You can substitute sugar cookie dough if someone's allergic to peanut butter. -- posted by ninja

Easy Shortbread

I tried four or five shortbread recipes but every one ended up too crumbly. I wanted to get close to a "Walker's Shortbread" taste. A co-worker shared this one and it's close - good texture and great taste. It's easy to work with in a shortbread mold, a round cake pan or roll for individual cookies. And it's simple to make.
Italian Bride’s Pecan Cookies (Pastelitos De Boda)

This is a pecan, crumbly, melt-in-your-mouth, cookie, that's perfect in the winter season, as the powdered sugar dusted on the cookies resembles snow. These are surprisingly quick and easy to make. This is an American twist on a classic Italian recipe, as it is made with pecans rather than the traditional almonds or hazelnuts.
Chocolate Shortbread

Honestly, what could be better than chocolate and shortbread in one cookie?? The original recipe called for the cookies to be rolled in balls then flattened (I have included those instructions below). HOWEVER, I have always used my cookie press to make spritz cookies out of these (the baking time needed some tweaking, so please see the seperate instruction if your wish to do spritz cookies as well).

Energy Bites (Mock Larabar)

Energy bars like Larabars are expensive ($1.75/bar) to buy. But you can easily make them using healthy ingredients. I made mine into small bites, vs. a bar. You can vary the ingredients using chopped dates, dried cherries or raisens or whatever dried fruit you have on hand. Yesterday at Costco I bought dried spiced apples and cranberries for under $3. I also buy my dried blueberries at Costco. Enjoy! -- posted by Jan Marie

Fast, cheap and easy! I was making peanut butter cookies the hard way, had a long talk with Gramma and she scolded me in her way and said "Dear, this is all you need, and here's what you do...." After making her cookies a called to say how great they were, all she said was "I told you so!".
Oatmeal Raisin Breakfast Cookies

This recipe has only four common ingredients, is easy to double or triple, and makes a good meal for those who are on a diet. Even better, it's vegan! In my opinion the cookies taste best right out of the oven, so don't hesitate to serve immediately. (;

The ingredient measurements are estimates, since I make this without measuring anything but the oats. If they aren't sweet enough, add your sweetener of choice. -- posted by Qzxyntop

Shortbread

Let's see how this turns out.....HA! Too funny. I was cooking while I entered this recipe here. It turned out disastrous. I FORGOT TO ADD THE FLOUR!! Sheesh. When I realized, it'd been baking for about 7 minutes, I took it out and just mixed in two cups of flour. Then baked it...about 20 minuts at 350, but the edges were browning while the middle was still mushy so I turned the heat off and left it in the oven. It turned out okay. Better maybe if I'd cooked it longer at a lower temp. AND REMEMBERED THE FLOUR! -- posted by Paprika Pink

Chocolate Covered Oreo Balls

Had these on Christmas Eve and thought Santa came early! Talk about simple - and sinful! These were extremely easy (and a lot of fun) to make.

We used reduced fat ( ::gasp:: ) Oreos, and they were just as good. You could use low fat cream cheese as well. We also decided that covering the *entire* ball made them a bit too sweet (yes, I know - how can that be?!?). Next time, we will just dunk the bottoms in the chocolate.

DH and I can't wait to try out different combinations: Peanut butter Oreos, mint Oreos, flavored chips, adding food coloring to white chocolate (for the holidays, game day, school colors, etc) - the creative possibilities are endless! -- posted by Dea Doo
