			<description>My mum always makes this around my birthday (5th Nov). This is best made a day or two in advance to allow the flavours to develop and the parkin to become moist and sticky. It will keep for up to a week in an airtight container.

			<description>These are GREAT fun! Bake some chocolate fairy cakes, muffins or cupcakes, decorate them and then turn them into Hooting Halloween Owls! I made these last year for a children's Halloween party, and they all loved them. The recipe is based on our British fairy cake or angel cake recipe, where the top of the baked cake or muffin is cut off to create the &amp;quot;wings&amp;quot;. I have stated some sweets (candy) that are British - please use your own local sweets to decorate the owls. This is a wonderful recipe idea that I have changed and adapted from Tana Ramsay, the wife of the famous Gordon Ramsay.....she has some great family recipes, of which this is one. (Preparation time includes the time to decorate and ice them after they have been baked.) 			<description>I JUST love these little spider cakes, when I make them, their faces make me laugh - well, I am easily pleased! Furthermore, they are VERY tasty - they have a much better flavour than NORMAL spiders I find, their legs are a little too chewy! The cake mixture is a double chocolate cake mixture - with cocoa and chocolate pieces, topped off with a chocolate butter cream. The decorations are made using Liquorice Allsorts and liquorice strings/laces or Catherine wheels as we call them in Great Britain.  They are easy to make and can be frozen before you decorate them. I made these for TOTM Cooking School September 2008 - I hope you find the step-by-step photos handy when you come to bake and decorate them. 			<title>Yorkshire Parkin - Sticky Oatmeal Gingerbread for Bonfire Night</title>

			<description>A wonderful tradition from Northern England, in particular from the county of Yorkshire; this wonderful gingerbread is traditionally eaten on the 5th November which is Bonfire Night, also called Guy Fawkes night or Fireworks Night. There are many ways to make ginger parkin; this is my recipe for this deliciously, sticky and dark gingerbread with oats. This recipe is an egg free parkin, and I was always told that Parkin should NEVER contain eggs in it, whether that is true or not, I'm not sure! Try to plan ahead when you make this recipe, it is MUCH better when kept for 2 to 3 days before eating, as it become stickier and more intense in flavour. This keeps for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container and freezes well, if there is any left! I use jumbo porridge oats in my parkin, for a nice chewy texture - but any porridge oats or oatmeal will be suitable. The real beauty of this recipe is that it doesn't take a lot of cooking and because you can vary the dipping ingredients you can be sure to cater for most tastes!  for example you can use grapes, walnuts, pecans, marshmallows, mango chunks, pineapple chunks etc. etc.

			<description>I've worked at it and worked at it and 5 batches later, I think I've got it. It's the perfect salt water taffy flavored with kool-aid. It takes alot of work to get it to the right consistency so don't give up! And if it seems to hard when it cools down, as long as it's still pliable, it will work. If it cracks into pieces, you cooked it too long. Even 5 degrees can ruin the batch so keep an eye on it. Try again, or tell people you were going for painted glass candy all along.
Also, most taffy recipes will tell you that you don't need to keep stirring after the mixture starts boiling. I ruined 3 batches before I found out it's safer just to keep stirring. Even a little bit of burnt taffy in the mix ruins the batch, and if you don't stir, it will burn to the bottom of the pan.
**SIDE NOTE**

			<description>I picked up the latest issue of Taste of Home, Best-Loved Cookies and Bars.  Because of the season, I wanted to make pumpkin cookies.  When I couldn't decide between 2 recipes, I smooshed them together and made it my own, especially the frosting.  A touch of maple syrup adds a hint of the holidays and the cream cheese adds a rich, creamy texture to the frosting and keeps it not too sweet.
These are easy to make and sooo delicious.  Don't be afraid of the thick mixture, especially after adding the walnuts.  This produces a soft, moist, chewy, cake-like cookie.
If you're not a stickler for smooth edges or are in a rush, refrigeration isn't necessary.  It just stays more formed and doesn't create little points after being scooped (especially from a cookie scooper).  These cookies don't spread out much, so you can place them closer together on the cookie sheet to bake more at a time.

			<description>This is a Midwestern classic apparently-- a school chum from Iowa told me about this recipe that's popular around fall and early winter, from having leftover cans of pumpkin from stocking up on sale but not wanting to make any more pumpkin pies-- they're popular for high teas, luncheon spreads, Superbowl parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas, or sitting on your can watching The Golden Girls. :D Since I didn't want to use actual marshmallow Fluff...this is my fluffy adaptation of this recipe that came out HEAVENLY. I could eat a drum of this stuff and not get bored of it! One 15 or 16 oz can of pumpkin works, or you can measure out 2 cups from a 28-oz can. 			<description>Even though the phrase &amp;quot;leftover pumpkin&amp;quot; doesn't exist in my household, most people often wonder what to do with the leftover pumpkin after making a pumpkin pie. I like to make this tasty, simple, and quick dessert when I have a huge can of pumpkin I haven't completely gone through. Whole milk and cinnamon rice milk really work best for this recipe, but some tasty variations that really add to this pudding's richness are vanilla rice or soy milk, and Silk Pumpkin  Pie flavored soy milk (which is only seasonal, I wish it was available year-round! And is it just me or does Silk Pumpkin Pie Soymilk taste just like Silk Nog that's available around Christmas, only they package it differently? So if you're making it around Christmas, use Silk Nog!) This awesome dessert is great for parties and potlucks,
