Cocktail meatballs are adored by armchair quaterbacks and hostesses across Canada. They're scrumptious, simple to make and easy to keep warm and serve from a crock pot. This recipe simmers juicy meatballs in a tangy sweeet and sour glaze made from grape jelly and chili sauce. -- posted by Chef mariajane

Chipotle Burrito Pie -- OAMC

I combined a couple of recipes to come up with this one. It is a perfect meal to have in the freezer for when you want something spicy. For a milder version, use less chipotle peppers. I have served it to company and everyone has loved it. Add a side salad and you are all set. Serve with sour cream and guacamole on the side.

Mme Benoit's Tourtière

Tourtière is a French Canadian meat pie which is traditionally served at Christmas. It may be made from pork, beef or a combination of meats sometimes including veal. Different regions in Quebec have their own traditional recipes. Some regions use game such as hare or duck rather than beef and pork. The pies should not have too much filling as they are just a part of the whole traditional Christmas dinner. It's usually served with tomato ketchup. This recipe is the creation of Mme Jehane Benoit, a famous Quebec cooking expert who received the Order of Canada for her contributions to Canadian cuisine. I found this recipe on recipesource.com and on blogger.com where it was posted by Lizzy Ferland. It is originally from the Canadiana Cookbook. -- posted by Dreamer in Ontario

Reduced-Fat Italian Sausage

I got this recipe from "A Guy's Guide to Great Eating" by Don Mauer. I am IN LOVE with this recipe and have been making it for years! I never buy pre-made italian sausage anymore. Recently, I've started "cutting" my 93% lean ground beef with TVP (textured vegetable protein), which makes this even leaner (and cheaper)! (The 93% lean ground beef goes on sale about once a month for under $2/pound...I load up during those times!! TVP is also less than $2/pound at bulk health food stores....you only use a few ounces for this recipe.) If you use all ground beef, you'll need a full pound. (Note: The yield is equivalent to one pound in mass, but will weigh less than that since TVP is lighter than beef.) -- posted by Robyn's Cookin'

Greek Meatballs, Feta Yogurt Sauce and Lemon Couscous

Yummy, a whole different way to eat meatballs. No Italian sauce, but a creamy Feta sauce and lemon couscous to serve everything over versus pasta. It really is great and honestly doesn't take long. Couscous as you know takes 5 minutes. I make the dressing ahead and you are only left with the meatballs which you can actually make ahead, refrigerate or freeze and then make later. A salad on the side with a lemon vinaigrette and fresh tomatoes and dinner. Can't get much easier. Give it a try, you will love it if you enjoy greek flavors like me. -- posted by SarasotaCook

Amazing Burgers

I always used to play around with my burger recipes until the night i made these- I'll never make burgers any other way. Enjoy!

NOTE: The addition of a slice of your favorite cheese melted over the top of your burgers can never hurt.

ANOTHER NOTE: I make my patties and let them sit in the fridge covered in clear wrap for a half hour before grilling.

MORE NOTES: A good juicy burger can tend to make the bun soggy so it's a good idea to lightly toast the bun on the grill.

LAST NOTE: For a great sauce for all your burgers check out my 'Amazing Burger Sauce' recipe. -- posted by Drunk Chef

Meat Balls and Gravy

Growing up in my Sicilian family, we would never had spaghetti and meatballs, we called it. "Macaroni and Gravy." This is an adaption of what I grew up eating.
Microwave Chili

This is the chili I remember eating as a child before microwaves were invented. This can be made in the microwave in about 30 min. but I prefer making it on the stove and then simmering it for an hour or so. The oregano is optional, I myself do not use it.
Serve what you need then freeze the rest. For quick defrosting and heating, divide into single servings and package in shallow freezer boxes or heat seal-able bags. -- posted by Catnip46

Stuffed Grape Leaves (Dolmas)

These are my own creation....my friends have raved about them at dinner parties! I combined my favorite aspects of two different stuffed grape leaves recipes to come up with this. They are a bit amount of work, but well worth the effort for a special occasion or dinner party! You could also add a medium onion, I don't because I don't like onions. -- posted by The Wallaces

Slow Cooker Tamale Pie

Looking for a easy mexican dinner. look no further! My husband and I love this stuff since I work till after 10pm most nights. Smack it in the crockpot at night and my lunch is waiting for me when I wake up the next morning. I leave the seasoning open because everyone has a different taste for heat I don't do a lot of chili powder with the ancho chili's but I love cumin and the other seasoning. Another good suggestion is mixing green onions into the gorn muffin mix, I top with shedded smoked cheddar cheese and a little sour cream. Hope you enjoy. -- posted by Mrs Spencer

Brown Sugar Minute Meat Loaves --

Cooking for one is often an adventure. Either you make the full recipe and eat the same dish for days, or you end up making sandwiches and eat them standing over the sink. :( Freezing leftovers would seem to be the obvious answer, but sometimes one needs an old-fashioned comfort food meal that doesn't need to be defrosted! This recipe serves 2, or serves 1 with planned-overs for the next day's lunch. -- posted by emmalee1942

Now everytime I make meatloaf he is on top of the world. This dish is even a child pleaser as my 4 year old daughter is begging for seconds. To make it a little healthier, I use a loaf pan with an insert so that the oil and grease from the beef drain away and the meatloaf is not sitting in it. -- posted by Pumpkin Pie's Mommy

Cheesy Party Pasta

A great dish to make if you are having lots of company or to take to a potluck. Add whatever you think you would like. I have made this in a large chafing dish and served it at a birthday party. You can also make this in a large foil or hotel tray. OR scale it down to have just with your family. I always use low fat ingredients, but this works with full fat products as well. Serve with crusty rolls and salad. Enjoy! -- posted by Nif

Shepheds, Cottage or Cumberland Pie

This was one of my favourite meals when I was a kid and I still love it now. Really comforting and satisfying traditional British food. I've tried other versions but this 1 with the carrots is my favourite. Serve with boiled cabbage or peas and plenty of gravy. Can also be made with lamb mince Yum! The recipe given is for shepherds pie. For cottage pie, add a sprinkling of grated cheese over the top before baking. For cumberland pie, add a sprinkling of breadcrumbs on top before adding the cheese but personally, I don't think it needs either of these. I'm a shepherds man through and through! -- posted by robd16

These tacos are one of the most popular recipes on my blog. We made these by the hundreds for large dinners when I was in grade school. I can assure you that these are no ordinary taco. These are FRIED beef and potato tacos. After they're cooked, you have to throw on some cheddar cheese and let it melt into the taco meat. Very cheesilicious. Just in case you're wondering, they're fattening -- and oh-so-good! -- posted by Cooking Ventures
