I used my recipe: recipe #84474 as a base, switched the sweet potatoes for butternut squash, and added a can of coconut milk, and came up with this!  CHERVIL: The leaves and root of this parsley family herb are edible and have a mild anise flavor. The leaves are a curly and dark green. Chervil is one of the main ingredients in Fines Herbes.

Ingredient

Season: available year-round

How to store: Chervil does not dry well, so it is best when used fresh.

How to prepare: Use like parsley, though most flavor is lost when boiled.

Matches well with: asparagus, carrots, cheese, chicken, eggs, fish, peas, potatoes, salads, sauces, soups, spinach, tomatoes, veal, venison

			<description>My friends and family are always getting on me to publish my recipes; I don't really use them, nor do I regularly remember even what I put into my dishes. I took this dish to a vegan potluck last night, and it disappeared in seconds. This morning I was awoken at gun point (exaggerated for dramatic effect) to post this recipe.... So, I thought it wise of me to comply. This recipe takes me about an hour of prep time, and about an hour to cook. There are shortcuts one may take to cut down on the prep time, but the first time, I suggest leaving ample time to prepare. I have used a variety of nuts for this recipe, all working out well (this last time I ran out of sesame seeds, so I used 2 tbsp of my tamari roasted pumpkin seeds, and 1 tbsp of raw pecans). I also like to make my dishes gluten free for potlucks, so I used &amp;frac12; cup of blue corn meal, and &amp;frac12; garbanzo flour in place of the whole wheat pastry flour, the taste was amazing, but a little more crumbly then whole wheat pastry flower. 			<description>I spent 18 months in central Canada, serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  While I was there, I fell in love with the people and the food, specifically Ukrainian and Filipino food. The cabbage rolls were my favorite, and when I returned to the US, I began searching for recipes, but could never find one that I liked.  This recipe comes from me combining elements of two or three different recipes that I found.  The resulting recipe is surprisingly easy--if a bit labor intensive.

I included instructions to make a sauce, but, if you run out of energy, the stuff in a can works just as well.  If I want to do a homemade sauce, I usually do it a day or so in advance.,

Here's one gleaned from Gourmet magazine, Nov. 2006 via Epicurious. Enjoy! This is one big casserole, but at the restaurant it was in individual dishes. You may add the cheese between each layer or just use it to top, or leave it out if you prefer! On the  website, this has 92 wonderful reviews! this is even better the next day. You can half this recipe and cook in a 9x9&amp;quot; pan. This is so good, serve to company and for the holidays. This recipe calls for slicing raw squash but to make it easier to cut, microwave for 3-5 minutes, or lightly steam or bake and then cut in pieces.
