My Daily Multi Grain Power Granola (Thorsten's Müsli)

As a marathon enthusiasts I was always looking for the 'perfect' healthy and tasty granola. Thorsten's Müsli is the result. It is different, all the good stuff is in and it is unsweetened. I like cereals and in this Müsli 9 different can be found as flakes, germ and bran. This Müsli has its own special (acquired?) taste - I love to have it every day. -- posted by Thorsten

Marvelous Maple Walnut Granola

Aw man…this stuff is so good! You gotta try it! Full of sweet, crunchy, wholesome flavor. I love eating it for breakfast with milk and fresh fruit. And it’s also great with yogurt, ice cream, sprinkled on muffins, pancakes, cobblers. I’ve made an awful lot of granola in my time, and this is one of the best combos I have ever come up with. You can add dried fruit if you want, too, but I prefer to just make it plain and add fruit as I use it. What I love about this method is that you mix everything in the dish, rather than messing with a bunch of saucepans and bowls. Super simple and flexible, and soooo yummy! -- posted by A Messy Cook

Golden Granola

A light, sweet flavor with lots of crunchy nutrition. I love granola with yogurt, ice cream, baked apples, or simply with milk and fruit for brekky! This recipe uses applesauce to cut down on fat and calories, and molasses to reduce the cost – but it still tastes every bit as delicious! -- posted by A Messy Cook

Good-For-You Granola Bars

These bars are full of nutritious foods, including "good fats" in the flaxseed meal and nuts. I've been experimenting with granola bars after trying Kittencal's delicious recipe #77200--trying to find something that tasted that good but was good for you too. This is as close as I have come so far. :) They are still a little crumbly but have good flavor. You can substitute any nut-butter, nuts, seeds, or dried fruit that you have on hand. Omit the salt if you are using salted nuts or seeds. -- posted by Al Al

Oatmeal With Blueberries and Coconut

This is a tasty variation on oatmeal, using coconut milk in place of half of the usual milk or water. This was written using the measurements for McCann's Quick-Cooking Oats. If you use other brands, you may need to use a different proportion of oats to liquid - The key is to follow the directions on the package for 2 servings, replacing half of the liquid with coconut milk. If you are gluten intolerant, you will need to use gluten-free oats (available from GlutenFreeOats.com or Cream Hill Estates). -- posted by What's Cooking?

Maple-Coconut Granola (Healthy/Low-Fat)

I got this from a vegan recipe website - http://www.bryannaclarkgrogan.com/page/page/579094.htm. This is a lot cheaper than store-bought granola; it is also made in the microwave, which is good because it doesn't dry out like most granola made in the oven. Low-fat and a lot more nutritious than store-bought, as well. It sounds good, but I haven't tried it yet...lemme know what you think, and cooking/prep times are estimates. -- posted by QueenQT26

Apple Cinnamon Granola

I adapted my own version of this from 3 or four other recipes. I wanted a low fat, low cal granola so this is what I came up with. This version isn't real sweet but it has an excellent flavor. I wanted my granola pretty crunchy so I left it in the oven for almost 90 minutes. The only thing is, you have to keep a close eye on it or it could burn. For the first 60 minutes I stirred it every 10-15 minutes. For the last 30 minutes I stirred it about every 5. -- posted by Lacy S.

A modified granola recipe from the Alexander Homestead Bed and Breakfast in St. Augustine, Florida as found online. I took twists and turns with this recipe. *Please* be sure you start with fresh ingredients-especially the wheat germ and nuts as they are notorious for going rancid quickly.
Green Mountain Granola

This simple but lovely granola comes from the Green Mountain Inn in Stowe, Vermont. I love the addition of maple syrup!

A little history:
Sylvester Graham develops Graham flour and Graham Crackers; later, Dr. James C. Jackson uses sheets of baked Graham flour, broken up, rebaked and broken up again to create "Granula". Then Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, a Seventh Day Adventist and director of their Battle Creek Sanitarium, develops a mix of baked and rebaked whole grains, and also calls it "Granula", which was later made famous by Charles W. Post, remaking it and calling it Grape Nuts. -- posted by Sharon123

Mother's Day Breakfast Cobbler

Given that I was out late the day before Mother's Day this year, I knew there was no way I'd be able to get up early enough to bring my mother breakfast in bed, as tradition dictates. So instead, I bought her a new crockpot, and put it in the oven when I got home, filled with this simple breakfast cobbler, so that when she awoke, the house was full of the smell of cooked apples and cinnamon, and she had a hot breakfast waiting for her.
It's quite filling, so it'll feed more people than you'd expect. It can be refrigerated and reheated. -- posted by RalMiska

Bill's Favorite Granola

Yummy granola made with whatever I have on hand at the time! Basic recipe from Ina Garten, but I toss in all kinds of fruits and nuts. Our friend Bill cannot keep his hands out of it and I always send him home with a bag to snack on! The first time I made it, it looked like alot so I used 2 sheet pans! Big mistake! Just pile it on one, and do not overbake it...it will seem "soft" when you take it out, but will "crisp up" as it cools! I bag it up in snack size servings,...and larger bags for Bill! Freezes well, and great on yogurt, ice cream, cereal or just out of hand. -- posted by bestbema

Fruity Breakfast Cookies

Fruity, oatmeal breakfast cookies similar to Baker's Breakfast Cookies - only you pick which fruit & nut combo you want! Batter is very stiff and sticky to work, and working with wet hands is a must. The trick with these is to underbake them a little bit and the result is a soft, cakey cookie that will fill you up and last all morning. -- posted by Grubbyknees

Sunny Cranberry Oatmeal

This is my favorite oatmeal - I'll eat it for breakfast or lunch! Very filling and super tasty with the dried cranberries, almonds and orange marmalade. Be sure to add the dried cranberries right away as they rehydrate while cooking which makes them very flavorful. If I'm not that hungry I'll reduce the oats to 1/4 cup and leave the other ingredients the same. Milk can be substituted for water if desired - when we ate oatmeal as little kids it was because we were out of milk for our cereal, so I always make my oatmeal with water.... personal preference is everything! *Note: 1 tablespoon of Smucker's sugar-free orange marmalade has 10 calories WW points = 3 -- posted by Brooke the Cook in WI

Chewy-Ewwy Granola Energy Bar

This is a modified energy bar from Mollie Katzen's Protein Bar recipe, found at {http://www.fabulousfoods.com}. I try to steer clear from dairy as often as possible and it was tough finding a granola/energy bar recipe that didn't use milk or yogurt. So I kinda took what I liked from this recipe and left what I didn't and added a few other things. It's a really great tasting bar that is egg-free and dairy free (except for the chocolate chips, use carob chips instead or just omit them altogether if you want a truly vegan bar) and packed with nutrition. They're pretty sweet so if you like a less sweet bar use less sugar, choose a less sweet nut butter, and/or substitute dried fruit and chocolate chips for nuts and carob chips. Eat one fresh out of the oven then freeze the rest in freezer zip-bags. Just make sure to defrost or warm them before eating. They're great for breakfast, gym snacks, workday pick-me-ups, and even after-school snacks (I'd bake them in a cookie shape for the latter purpose). -- posted by Annie Made

This is a recipe that I got from my wonderful friend. It's one of those granola recipes that you can easily tweak to fit your personal choice of tastes. If you don't like wheat germ, try flax meal. Not a coconut fan? Leave it out. And you can add any type of dried fruit that you like! You can't go wrong with this one. Plus...only 1/3 cup of brown sugar!! Let me know how yours turns out, and what fun takes you have on this recipe!
Best Ever Granola

This recipe is so good because it produces a granola with lots of clusters (due to the ground oats) and light, crisp flakes (from the quick oats). The recipe is from, Melissa Kronenthal of The Traveler's Lunchbox. She calls it "Seven-Year Granola" as it took her 7 years to develop this perfect recipe.
Costco Clone Granola

I tried Costco's granola the other day, and is it EVER good! Now, I'm not saying this recipe is an exact clone of Costco's, but it's the best I found. Add or subtract ingredients according to your taste - you can use less sugar if you like, increase the amount of wheat germ, add flax seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, other dried fruit or nuts - it's perfect for experimenting.
