Savory Sausage Salad (aka Wurstsalat)

I had never had wurstsalat until I sampled some at Disney's Epcot's Biergarten in the German pavillion. One bite and I was head-over-heels! I came home and scoured the net collecting every recipe available because theme park admission is just too darn expensive to shell out every time a craving hits. This is the culmination of my efforts. If you want to stretch it out a little bit, toss 2 cups of sliced cooked potatoes in with the mix. -- posted by Mercy

Schmackhaft German Salad

This is a very complicated recipe but well worth the effort!! Too often, German cooking is viewed as simple and easy. This recipe provides something different--German cooking as it is presented in the best 5-star restaurants all over the continent.
Berliner Kartoffelsalat / Berliner Potato Salad

This is my moms recipe for the mayo based version that you will find all over northern Germany, while southern Germany prefers the vinegar based/hot version. Make sure to let the salad rest for at least 2 hours so that all the flavors can blend and soak into the potatoes. -- posted by Berliner Göre

Fleischsalat (Meat Salad)

I adopted this recipe and this is the original description, "This is my families version of Fleischsalat. It is not like what you can buy in German shops under the same name (they just contain bologna, pickles and mayonnaise). My dad used to make a huge bucket for the Christmas holidays and for me it's still part of Christmas, though I'd eat it any other time of the year as well. It is lighter than the standard Fleischsalat. Use more Fleischwurst if you like". -- posted by Lauralie41

Salad With Radish and Green Onions

Small red mild radish are a favorite salad ingredient with many Germans. One of the many salad variations we usually eat. We prefer the mild nutty flavor of a medium-priced walnut oil to the fruity flavor of olive oil, the grainy texture of the country-style mustard and some tang from the vinegar, but feel free to use what you like best. I often sub the onions with 1 tablespoon chives. -- posted by Inge 1505

German Farmer's Salad (Bauernsalat)

I got this recipe of my mum this Christmas. She had made it for Christmas Eve and the more I ate of it, the more I liked it. I usually prefer mayonnaise, but in this recipe miracle whip works better. This works best if you make it a day in advance and leave the flavours to develop. Bologna is called 'Feine Schinkenwurst' or 'Feine Fleischwurst' in Germany and you might find it in some supermarkets sold as such. I know in the UK you can get it in a ring in Aldi. -- posted by -Sylvie-

From about.com, this recipe is based on the ever-popular hot German potato salad. Look for fresh wax beans at the farmers' market or use frozen. Can also be served at room temperature. If you happen to know of which famous Hot German this recipe is referring, would you kindly Zmail me? Green beans can also be substituted for the wax beans.
Beer Dressed Potato Salad

My SIL made this & I loved it. Getting the recipe was a challenge since Lou is a "cook with what I have on hand" person. I've used my best guess for directions but am fairly confident of the ingredients. Cook time does NOT include boiling the potatoes but DOES include the standing time. Updated to reply to reviews: I always use the beer most commonly found in Texas coolers - Miller Lite. I suggest that you add additional mustard in you use a darker beer.
Secret Ingredient Low Fat Potato Salad!

I am ALWAYS asked what is in this family favourite Potato Salad - it's a very common but secret ingredient which just makes it so tasty! I am about to tell the secret now....it's liquid Maggi Seasoning! I also like to add diced cornichons, small dill pickles or gherkins as we call them in England, and diced ham as well! This recipe is also low-fat making it a guilt free accompaniment for all your Barbeques & Family gatherings! I have added some optional additions at the end - which makes it a very adaptable potato salad recipe. -- posted by French Tart

German Tuna Salad

I learned this recipe from my German friend, Nina while helping her family prepare food for a wedding in Denklingden, Germany. The proportions of the vegetables can vary, depending on your preference. You must season to taste. This is great when left in the fridge overnight as well. -- posted by Nurse Morgan

Ann's German Potato Salad

This recipe is the result of tweaking traditional German Potato Salad recipes to suit our tastes. We like it better than any others we have tasted. Whenever we have a family gathering this is the dish everyone always asks for. I have to make extra so everyone can have leftovers to take home.
The ingredient amounts are guesstimates because I always just toss it all together without measuring for this dish. Next time I make it I will take measurements and adjust the recipe accordingly. -- posted by Alskann

Tangy, Zesty Oil and Vinegar Potato Salad

The best potato salad you've never had. For when your craving that certain ZING from vinegar...I don't like regular potato salad. I don't like sweet relish, eggs, or miracle whip in my potato salad. The sharp onion with the vinegar balances the soft potato texture. Inexpensive and college budget approved. For more of a bite, add two to three teaspoons of whole grain mustard along with the olive oil. Try this!! Yumm....From Bon Appetit, 2009.
