Mile High Raspberry Pie

from Southern Sideboards. Delicious, light, refreshing pie! Great raspberry flavor. Cooking time is freezing time, approximately. Use fresh raspberries when possible but if using frozen, make sure they are thawed. Very easy, great, pretty result! -- posted by jfresh444

Raspberry Cheesecake Ice Cream (For Electrice Ice Cream Maker)

I combined two different recipes, adjusting as needed, to create this recipe. It is the perfect sweetness and creaminess, in my opinion. Not overly cheesy, you can add more cream cheese if you like a cheesier flavor. Received rave reviews from all who tried it, and it was really easy to make! No raw eggs needed.
(Cooking time includes time to combine all ingredients, to remove seeds, and to run the ice cream machine.) -- posted by Cher Oliver

Jenn's Drumstick Squares

My neighbour Jenn delivered this wonderful dessert to our door last week. Tastes just like the drumstick cones you get at the store. Super easy to make, and wonderful to have on hand when unexpected company arrives...or a spur of the moment treat. :) I made mine in a 9x13 plastic container with a fitted lid. This version is slightly different than those already posted here on Zaar. -- posted by Diana #2

Frozen Lime Meringue Torte

This is a recipe from 'Company's Coming Decadent Desserts By Jean Paré'
This is a book I received as a gift and have decided to work my way through it. I made this cake for my grandfather's 91st birthday and it's pretty tasty! There are a number of steps involved, but each step is easy. Preparation time is only a guess and does not include freezing time. The book says to put the meringue into a rectangular shape, but I'm sure any shape would work. -- posted by Shark Lover

Orange Granita in Orange Cups

One time when my son and I were shopping at Costco, we saw these sorbets served in citrus and coconut cups. My son and I decided to try this with some granita we had made the previous weekend.

This recipe is so much fun! It is simple, healthy, light, and most importantly...a blast for the kids. I make it my son's job to go into the freezer and scrape the granita (or orange ice cream as he calls it). -- posted by Melanie B.

Baileys Ice Cream

I took this recipe from a free leaflet the I picked up in Sainsburys some time ago and only got round to making it yesterday. I used a shops own brand Irish Whiskey Cream Liqueur instead of the Baileys and it was great. Would go great with hot home made mince pies in the Christmas season.
If you don't have an ice-cream maker pour the mixture into a freezer proof container, cover and place in freezer for 1 hour. Remove from the freezer and break up the mixture with a fork until it is "mousse" like to prevent ice crystals forming. Freeze again for a further hour and repeat the process, then freeze until solid. Remove from the freezer a few minutes before serving. -- posted by Lou van

C T's Ice Cream Cake -- Much Like D Q

A true-to-DQ version of the pricey ice cream cakes. This is more of a method, really, than a recipe. This is a close copy of the DQ cakes we enjoy, at a fraction of the cost, and with ingredient control. Feel free to substitute your own cake and icing. Make sure you have room in the freezer before starting assembly. I keep round cake layers on-hand in the freezer; you may need to make yours fresh. Use half the ingredients for one cake -- this makes two. Prep time includes freezing time during assembly only. -- posted by CheapThrills

Ultimate Birthday Cake Ice Cream

I re-created this recipe after trying one here on RecipeZaar that didn't taste quite right. And the results were a huge hit! I experimented my version at an icecream social. I guess it was a "trial" run. Anyway, it was almost as much fun as watching the older folks facial expression as it was to watch the little kids, just go crazy for this icecream. Hope you like my take on this one.
Honey, Lemon, Lavender Ice Cream

Ok, I love homemade ice cream. But due to space ... my ice cream maker is in my POD (storage unit). So I love unique ice creams.
I love chocolate with kahula, macadamia nuts and chocolate cookies. Almond cookies mixed with fresh peaches and almonds and Peach liquor is amazing and a almond extract takes it over the top.
Chocolate ice cream with mint cookies, walnuts and creme de menthe is heaven.
Not having an ice cream maker I try to come up with unique ice creams by using good ol' vanilla or chocolate and adding my touches. I bring to room temp or let is soften to a workable mixture and then add flavors. They can be cookies, herbs, flavors, liquors and then refreeze.
This is a favorite ... -- posted by SarasotaCook

Molasses Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches

Found this in the LA Times Food section. Thinking of making up some pumpkin ice cream (yes, it's that time & oh do I love pumpkin ice cream) to assemble these cookies. They note, " Adapted from "Sunday Suppers at Lucques" by Suzanne Goin. This cookie dough is very soft when made and may need to be chilled at intervals as the cookies are rolled and assembled. Sandwiches are best assembled one day ahead to allow the cookies to soften slightly." -- posted by Buster's friend

Coconut Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches

Found these in the LA Times - gonna make the first batch this Thursday night using Recipe#376093 - just right for Indian summer. The article suggested assembling these the night before so the cookies soften a bit. Plan to wrap them in Saran Wrap to freeze. Doubt any will be left by Sunday. Time doesn't include making the ice cream - so bought or made, up to you. Prep time includes minimum chill times. -- posted by Buster's friend

Chocolate Sea Salt Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches

Found this PMS dream cookie in the LA Times Food Section (chocolate, salt & sugar!). Given that I'm not the only chocolate lover in the house I suspect these will have to be squirreled away in different places to make certain at least 1 or 2 are around when medicinally required The article mentions how the salt balances the sweet & specifically suggests sel gris, Celtic sea salt, which I am sure would be the bomb but I suspect Kosher salt will work just fine too. Preparation/assembling the day before gives the cookies time to soften & the ice cream time to harden - if you care. Prep time includes 2 hour minimum dough chilling time. Thinking of making a chunky banana ice cream to go into these bad boys... -- posted by Buster's friend

What's nice about this dessert is you can customize it for each person with whichever ice cream / sauce they prefer. It would be great for a crowd. I estimated the serving size to the sauces, but am not sure if it's right as I have not tried this yet - but wanted to put the recipe here for safekeeping. -- posted by megs_

Peanut Butter Cup Cookie Ice Cream Pie

This recipe comes out of a Cooking for Kids cookbook. My daughter requested this for her 9th birthday "cake". It is pretty easy to do. If you can't find a readymade chocolate pie crust may I recommend recipe #27559 for the crust. When I made this I did it in a 9x13 dish so I had to double the recipe. The recipe posted is for 1 pie. This makes a very rich dessert. I recommend small pieces and a glass of milk. LOL -- posted by *Z*

From About.com Home Cooking. Peach sorbet gets a festive edge by the addition of champagne. You can cut the preparation time by using frozen peaches. If you do not have champagne, try substituting sparkling apple or white grape juice.
Pumpkin Ice Cream With Maple Pecan Sauce

It's time for all thing pumpkin! Came across this recipe in The Washington Times. It called for breaking up gingersnaps & adding them to the ice cream when it is almost firm. I prefer to serve them on the side. Better to make the custard ahead of time - it needs a 3 hour minimum chill time (preferably overnight) before processing in ice cream maker. Once churned, eat it quick - it gets grainy when stored beyond a few days in the freezer. Actually it has the best mouth feel after about an hour in the freezer after being churned. -- posted by Buster's friend

Super Easy Ice Cream!

Here is a simple and delicious ice cream recipe that does not require an ice cream maker! For a different flare try substituting 1/2 cup of the heavy whipping cream with flavored coffee creamer (I would reccomend not using the low fat kind) or egg nog. You can also sub the vanilla for any other flavor extract. Freezing time (cooking time) varies on how shallow your container is. I would sugest using this up within a week for best taste. Enjoy!

“guilt-Free Ice Cream Wannabe”

This delicious low-calorie dessert is a great way to satisfy your craving for a big bowl of chocolate ice cream without blowing your diet. The thickness of the Greek yogurt provides the creamy texture of ice cream for just a fraction of the calories. Also, by using frozen berries, the yogurt freezes as they are mixed in, giving the cool, frozen texture of real ice cream. The Fiber One cereal sprinkled on top provides a nice crunch and textural contrast - enjoy! -- posted by Chef #1453068
