Spiced Vanilla Pecans

I can barely keep a pecan in this house, the minute anyone in my family smells that I have brought home pecans they go after it with their built-in pecan detectors. However, if I announce that I am making these spiced vanilla pecans they actually manage to restrain themselves, but barely, until the pecans are ready, and then they fall upon them like a pack of dogs. These are great for parties, although no matter how much you make they will never be enough. You should start making them the day before you plan to serve them.
Glazed Doughnuts

This is the recipe my MIL made when I was a child. My SIL, who was a friend from my childhood as well, used to bring these to school for her birthday treats. Our classes always looked forward to 'her' birthday each year! One year I had the privlege of being asked to walk home with her during lunch to help carry them back for the afternoon milk break and birthday treats. Her mom, my future MIL, threw in an extra and said it was for me as a reward for coming with Trudy to help carry them back. After we returned to school, Trudy 'found' someone else she decided she wanted to be her new 'best friend' and decided that she was going to give 'my donut' to 'that' friend instead of me...needless to say, there was no way I was going to let her get away with 'that'! I am sharing this recipe as a result of a request on the boards. This is still the best homemade doughnut recipe that I've come across and I've tried quite a few of them, but always return to this one! Hope you enjoy it as much as my family does... :-)) I've never timed any of the process of making these, so I really don't have a clue. My family also likes to have me cook the center cut-outs as little doughnut balls too. The amount you will get from this recipe will depend on the size of the doughnut cutter(s) you use (I have several sizes). I've never counted; my family begins digging in as soon as they start coming out of the hot grease. I do know that this recipe makes a lot of doughnuts! My MIL has made them for years for the annual family reunion potluck. -- posted by Cindy Lynn

One of my favorite cookies of all time, these are fabulous warm from oven, but also keep well in an airtight container. My Hungarian/Austrian Grandmom called these "Butterhorns", an aunt on the other side called her version "Schnecken" and I have seen versions of this also under "Rugelach" or "Rululach".
Easy Chocolate-Dipped Apricots (Apricot Chanukah Gelt)

This is a quick homemade candy delicacy that can also be used as a tastier take on Chanukah gelt, inspired by a recipe in Martha Stewart Living.
Mccormick's Peppermint Bark

I found this on the box of McCormick's Pure Peppermint Extract and decided to try it. I'm usually not a fan of Peppermint Bark because the balance of chocolate and peppermint always seems uneven. That being said, this recipe has a great balance to it and even looks great once finished. My boyfriend loved it so much he pleaded with me not to serve it at our dinner party so he could save it all for himself! ;) My only concern with this recipe is that the bark can get stuck if there are too many wrinkles in the foil. I wonder if this could be fixed with wax paper? Let me know what works for you! -- posted by EmJoMay

Ataiyef - Stuffed Syrian Pancakes

Ataiyef are a traditional treat for the Jews of Aleppo during Hanukkah, usually eaten during an afternoon break with tea or coffee and on special occasions, such as weddings.
Besides Hanukkah, they are also served at engagement parties and at Shavuot, a harvest holiday that commemorates the giving of the Torah. For this recipe, chill the syrup (Shira) before using so that the hot pancakes stay crisp.

I found these online about 6 years ago and never posted them. What I like is that they are savory and a combination of both cheese and potato. The potato-cheese latkes prep time = 15 mins & frying time = 10 mins per batch. The apple-pear sauce prep time = 10 mins & cooking time = 20 mins.
