Cheap and Easy Bread Pudding

This is a great way to use up leftover Recipe #379727 - I had three of them left over from the week and trimmed them up, cubed them and made a basic bread pudding recipe. I took it out of the oven as DH was leaving for work and he hung around while I packed it up for him. The whole house smells great! Switch up the ingredients to what your family likes! -- posted by Secret Agent

Foam Biscuits (Cookies) by Brianne's Nanna

Many many years ago my daughter brought home a recipe that was shared at her kindergarten class by a little girl called Brianne for her nanna's biscuits.
The note at the bottom of the recipe made it worth keeping all this time & although I have not made this yet I thought that someone may remember them from their childhood.
The note reads:
"This makes lots & lots of biscuits.
My nanna had 5 children during the war and she used it lots so she could feed the children.
She never bought biscuits all her life. Nanna always made these for all her grandchildren's birthday parties and they are my favourite biscuits.

Macaroni Cake

This is a replica of my grandma's recipe only tweaked a little since she didn't leave us an actual recipe. It's sorta a pudding/custard type dessert. Not too sweet and very creamy. It took me a few times to perfect it, but I am sure you will enjoy this Italian homemade specialty. Serve warm or cold. -- posted by Chef #1522934

Cinnamon Twists

My aunt used to make these cookies when I was younger, and I liked them enough to have my mother get the recipe for them. My aunt died not long after, and the recipe was misplaced. It recently resurfaced, so I'm submitting it to Zaar so it doesn't get lost again.

(Unfortunately the recipe doesn't say how large or thick the dough circles should be, so some experimentation might be necessary! I've also guessed at the cooking time - please watch your cookies!) -- posted by CassiaDawn

The World's Fastest Chocolate Sour Cream Cake!! Maybe the Best!

So so so good! So so so little work. Well, yeah, come on, you DO have to measure the ingredients. And a simple glaze would be good. But if you are really, I mean REALLY, pressed for time, place a paper doily on the cake, sift confectioner's sugar over it, lift carefully and there you have it. And this is sooo much better than a cake mix. I use an 8" square scalloped pan; that makes it look really special. Nawww, that's not cheating. It's just taking a little help where you can find it! Recipe was found somewhere on the internet April, 1998. That's how long I've been making it. -- posted by Jezski

Dark Chocolate No Bake Cookies

Bread Pudding Ummm . . . Best Ever

I had never had Bread Pudding before I went to Vegas and had it at a buffet. Well, I fell in love. My obsession use to be chocolate, but since I've lost 52 lbs. I gave it up. NOW, my obsession has become THIS version of Bread Pudding. ( I have to be careful how much of this I make, so I don't gain all of that chocolate weight back!) I found this recipe on the "Momswhothink.com" website and I hope it is ok to post it here. This is true comfort food. Do not over bake or you will lose the eggy texture of the bread. The cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla are the key ingredients to the rich flavor of this dessert. I use french bread, and have even used dry bread that has been sitting around a few days. I even used wheat french bread once and it turned out great! The sauce is more a vanilla, butter, cream sauce. I usually make about 4 times (yes, that is what I said!) in order to smother the bread pudding. One recipe of it is just not enough. Ummm. Make the sauce while the pudding is baking and you will save time. You can also use a Hard Sauce if you would rather. (recipe # 102574 sounds like a good one.) Even if you have never tried Bread Pudding, be daring, and try it. I use to turn my nose up at it, and now, I cannot wait for an excuse to make it, again and again. Enjoy! -- posted by terriers2

Fresh Apple Cinnamon Nutmeg Cake

Moist, yummy cake that freezes well and warmed in the microwave is just as good as when it came out of the oven. In my oven, it takes 50 minutes. My family likes this as a mid-morning snack. Recipe adapted from Cooks.com website. Makes 24 (2 1/4 x 2 inch) servings. -- posted by Chef #1045743

Mennonite Soft White Cookies

A sugar cookie that is not too sweet, but deliciously soft! I was served cookies like these by a Mennonite couple, and searched desperately for the recipe until I found this one on a Mennonite cooking website! They've been a big hit wherever I've taken them, and they're a family favourite! I've modified the recipe to have coconut on top, like they were first served
to me. If necessary, add an extra 1/4-1/2 cup of flour to keep the dough from being too sticky, and if you don't have buttermilk, use 1 cup milk + 1 tsp. vinegar and let stand for 5 minutes before use. The measurements for the icing are approximate, as I don't usually measure the amounts exactly and they aren't given on the recipe site; make more if you need/like more! Enjoy! -- posted by Nimmireth

Make sure the cookies are small. I use a small melon baller which I fill level. Bigger cookies will spread. -- posted by Cookin' on the Prairie
