Let me know what you think if you try it before me! I guessed on the prep time, and cooking time included refridgerating time. -- posted by B&J'sGranny

Lean Green Tuna Mac Salad

Deli-Style Macaroni Salad

From Cooks Illustrated "The Best Make Ahead Recipe". The idea being that you don't end up with macaroni salad that dries out. We liked this recipe, it was very creamy and a bit tangy- good! My new favorite. I will probably try some lower fat ingredients next time to lighten it up a bit. -- posted by Ridgely

Patrick's Combo Salad

I could eat a big salad every day, couldn't you? I also like them for late night snacks. This one is a little different, very hearty, and I especially like the veggie flavor combinations. If you don't like French dressing, skip the mayo and the French dressing and try an equal amount (or less) of my Stone Pipe Inn Salad Dressing: Recipe #136181. This latter dressing is very fast and easy to prepare and packs a wallop of savoury-sweet flavor. I got the original salad recipe idea from Clover Valley Foods which is a Family Dollar Store brand. This recipe makes enough for small dinner party salads (6 servings). Enjoy! -- posted by Bone Man

My mom got a similar recipe from a grocer in our home town store; they made it in the back and sold it. It is a favorite of mine that makes me think of mom. Now I am doing it by memory, so you may have to adjust some things. Also, my mom did not use dash way back when, I don't think it was around, but she used it later.
Ypsi's Mom's Macaroni Salad

A simple, classic & tasty pasta salad from my childhood that was a standby whenever we "cooked out". The tangy, salty flavor is a nice counterpoint to the sweet and smoky richness of barbecued ribs or chicken.

I would suggest tasting the dressing before adding the macaroni and veggies. If it's almost *too* salty/vinegary, then it will be perfect with the pasta.

Also, while it can be made ahead and chilled, be aware that the pasta will absorb and damp down a lot of the flavor in the process, so if it's been chilled a while, taste and correct seasoning if needed. -- posted by Ypsi

Shrimp Pasta Salad-- Waco Style

This is my spin on my Mom's famous shrimp salad -adapted for my DH's tastes - which means no mayo or mustard. ;) I tend to sprinkle, pour and shake until the consistency and flavor are to my (our)liking, so please bear that in mind as you make this and adjust the flavor to your liking. ;) **My mom makes this using Knott's Honey Dijon dressing in place of the Berenstein's....and it is great - a bit less of the savory seasonings as it is a different flavor, but DH will NOT eat that one - hence my version. His friends ask for this when we have parties or take trips. **Prep time is boiling of pasta and chopping, Cook time is assembling pasta. Chill time not included as it is not required.****Can make this ahead and increase the serving size for large gatherings easily as it is usually a hit anywhere we take it***

My family loves this recipe. It is a great complement to cook-outs. You can use any type of meat. I usually use whatever is in the house, but the Spam gives it good flavor. I use the light Spam just to cut down on calories and salt. Also, the shell pasta works great as well. I usually use whatever pasta I have. -- posted by Small-Town Cook

Summer Pasta Salad

This is the quintessential summer comfort food. When it was too hot to cook or eat a heavy dinner, my mother would often make this as a light summer meal. When packing for a picnic lunch I find it easy to store the salad in a large Ziploc bag, it leaves more room in the cooler for other goodies this way.

Simple Pasta Salad

This recipe came from a good friend of mine. It's quick and easy to make. There are no real measurements since it is mainly done to ones personal preference. The amounts given here are just to start you off. The prep time is just a rough guess as well. It normally takes me about 20 - 40 minutes depending on how big a batch I am making. -- posted by Chef #1122241

Macaroni Salad

Cooking for an army and don't know what to make? This is like eating deviled eggs and pasta in a single creamy dish. I halved the recipe when I made it (I'll post the full recipe that serves 32). I didn't even have celery or pimientos, but it still turned out terrific. I used a mixture of yellow and green bell peppers (I thawed them from the freezer) and for the peas I used a mixture of frozen corn, green beans, peas, and carrots. This one's hard to stop eating. I found the recipe came from America's Best Church Supper Recipes/Taste of Home. Thank you LaVerna Mjones from Moorhead, Minnesota for your delightful recipe! Cook time excludes chilling time, but I completely skipped that step. -- posted by AmyZoe

Macaroni Salad With Dill

Quick, easy to make Macaroni Salad with a touch of dill to give it a little extra zip. This can be easily altered by adding additional veggies, like carrots, green peppers, or diced tomatoes. For a more hearty salad, diced chicken can also be added. Light mayo can be substituted to reduce calories. -- posted by Chef #1071114

Corn and Black Bean Macaroni Salad - Tex Mex

Chill a beer for this nice and spicy dish!
The elbows should be cooked al dente in well salted water to prevent broken mushy noodles. Do salt the water liberally. (2 teaspoons is not a lot once mixed with the rest of the ingredients) Seasons the pasta and avoids father salting in the recipe.
This can be eaten as a side or a main balanced meal.
I opted for yogurt and smart balance for better health. But you can use sour cream and mayo. -- posted by ~Rita~
