Hoagie Dip

Here is my favorite Hoagie sandwich in dip form! I was so surprised to find this recipe on the Net. I wonder why I didn't think of this? I served this at a barbecue the other day and everyone raved about it. It's not a 'pretty' dip that's for sure.. but it is very good. Serve in a bowl surrounded by slices of Italian bread. Cook time is time to chill. -- posted by luvmybge

Honey BBQ Dipping Sauce (Kfc Copycat)

One of the favorite items that is on the menu is the Barbecue sauce that was original made fresh in the store and used to dip the wings, the original chicken and now the chicken strips. Now it comes in a bag and all we have to do is add hot water and keep warm. -- posted by JustaQT

Rainbow Roasted Salsa & Gazpacho Bonus

Made this myself. The only non-roasted veggie is ONE, solitary garlic clove which just punches up the flavor. The salsa is not spicy at all. My mom described it as a little sweet. The salsa was a hit. I was tempted to title this Witchin' Salsa (replace the W with a B), but this is more kid-friendly. For you heat-eaters (myself included), you can add cayenne, hot sauce, or replace the jalepenos with other chiles. I just had to go wimpy because of my mom. I swear, I can practicially DRINK tobasco. My mom enjoyed the gazpacho part with a grilled cheese. You can even spread the salsa on crusty bread and call it 'Bruschetta'. Alternatively, you can GRILL the veggies -- posted by nomnom

Apple Dip (It's Not Just for Apples Anymore)

I love this dip, possibly more than caramel dip! HOWEVER, it seems I have limited it's possibilities by implying that it should be reserved for apples solely from the recipe's title. That is not the case!! WHY should you try this dip? Well the marshmallow and cream cheese dip is great, but I believe it's the cinnamon that really sets it apart!! I think you could put the ingredients on a long list of things, but I'll let you use your own creativity for that. I prefer it with very tart apples, such as Northern Spy or Granny Smith, but have used it with all sorts since dh likes sweet and softer apples. It is very good and very easy and can be prepared in advance, such as for parties. -- posted by LoriInIndiana

Spinach-Garlic-Edamame Hummus

Whipped this up tonight since we have been a bit vegetable deficient lately. I LOVE hummus, as does my fiancé, so I thought this would be perfect. It turned out really well. This is based on my Lebanese friend's recipe for hummus--she is religious about hummus and tabbouleh, so I know I have the basic recipe down pat!! :-) Be sure to adjust anything you want; it is possible to make hummus more low in fat by reducing the amount of tahini or olive oil you add, and if you hate edamame, then omit it. Just make it up with water, stock, or the liquid from the can of garbanzo beans. IT occurs to me that this would be perfect for St Patrick's Day....it's completely green, with all the spinach and edamame. -- posted by spatchcock

Canned (Bottled) Salsa

Most recipes for canning salsa call for vinegar, which I do not like at all. It makes the salsa taste more like a pickle and less like a fresh salsa. I developed this recipe to conform to the requirements of safe canning practices while still tasting as much like fresh salsa as possible. Salting and straining the tomatoes prevents the salsa from being too "soupy" without requiring a long cooking time to reduce the liquid. You should buy 10 limes; you probably won't need them all but they do vary in juiciness quite a bit. NOTE: Jalapenos vary wildly in strength - the ones I get are fairly mild. If yours are very hot, or if you are looking for a milder salsa, you should feel free to reduce them accordingly. -- posted by Jenny Sanders

This is a really simple, spicy, NO VELVEETA cheese fondue dish which can be altered easily to fit your preferences. Fresh ingredients take this to the next level. Serve with warm tortillas or crusty French Bread, pico de gallo, and plenty of beer. I use 4 Serranos instead of Jalapenos when I make this so it is hotter, you can use however many you want. -- posted by TJW

Creamy Caramel Apple Dip

I was making another one of my recipes - Caramel Cream Cheese Apple Dip - and I got a little overboard and the caramel went over the plate. I knew I couldn't serve it to my guests that way and I also didn't want to waste cream cheese and caramel, so I put it in my mixer and blended it all together. The result was a rich and creamy apple dip. When you dip the apple pieces in it, it tastes just like a delicious caramel apple! -- posted by KC_Cooker

Crock Pot - Great Beef, Great Beans, Great Dip! Longmeadow Farm

Beans do not grow on the farm. Lima beans do, but alas no Great Beans, kidney beans, or pinto beans. This occurred to me this day and this moment after spending a heated afternoon pulling lima beans from the long 7 foot vines. Here it is, late September in the year 2007 and we have enough beans to supply the lima bean population for the next two years. This recipe is NOT about lima beans though. We do however; have tomatoes. But this isn't a recipe about tomatoes either, sure--feel free to chuck a tomato into this dip, but certainly not a necessity. How much fun can you envision when throwing this together first thing on a Saturday or Sunday morning and enjoy relaxing at night during a cool spell and sit by your honey, your dog, your cat, your hamster, your ant house. Just pick up some old bread and make bread sticks if you have to, or those old tortilla chips sitting right there in back of your snack cupboard. Add pinto beans if you want, you can even add lima beans to the dip if you are so inclined. Just feast, just feel the moment, just enjoy the art of eating. Relish the moment like you've never relished it before. -- posted by Andi of Longmeadow Farm

Pumpkin Seed Dip

A healthy party dip alternative from the website SuperFoodsRX. Pumpkin seeds are sooo good for you - In addition to a mega amount of zinc, they are also a very good source of iron, copper, protein, magnesium and monounsaturated fats, fight cholesterol and lower your risk for certain cancers. This spread maintains a nutty consistency, is slightly spicy and is great alongside fresh, raw veggies (carrots, celery or cauliflower). Remember that a little goes a long way! Be sure to use a good-quality light mayonnaise made with heart-healthy fats like grapeseed, canola, or soy oil. -- posted by kellymbrown

Pumpkin Fluff Dip

This is a Midwestern classic apparently-- a school chum from Iowa told me about this recipe that's popular around fall and early winter, from having leftover cans of pumpkin from stocking up on sale but not wanting to make any more pumpkin pies-- they're popular for high teas, luncheon spreads, Superbowl parties, Thanksgiving and Christmas, or sitting on your can watching The Golden Girls. :D Since I didn't want to use actual marshmallow Fluff...this is my fluffy adaptation of this recipe that came out HEAVENLY. I could eat a drum of this stuff and not get bored of it! One 15 or 16 oz can of pumpkin works, or you can measure out 2 cups from a 28-oz can. You can also use 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice for the spicing but it tends to be overpowering, the subtler cinnamon and nutmeg is better. -- posted by the80srule
