Tropical Passion Rum Punch

This recipe came about one day when we had an interesting juice in the house, a great thirst and a desire for something a little different.
This is definitely not for the kids.
The name came from the location...we live in Jamaica (Tropical), and the colour...sort of a purple which comes from the pink of the Juice and the blue in the curacao (Purple passion) and the possible outcome....
This is a no fooling around Rum Punch..approach with caution and enjoy.

Please note: I used Guava-Pineapple Juice which has a pink colour, but any combination of tropical juices Mango with Pineapple etc. will work. The pineapple seems to be key. I use Appleton's Rum because it is Jamaican and great Rum. -- posted by Donalda

Pickled Bloody Mary

I'm the type of girl who can be found drinking pickle juice from the jar. I'm also the type who will sit around and experiment with bloody mary concoctions, trying to find the best combination. Imagine my joy at finding a recipe that marries two of my favorite things together. The pickle juice bloody mary is delicious, even for people who aren't pickle obsessed. I owe this recipe to the Strub's pickles website. -- posted by OwlMonkey

i have to give full credit to BecR for this recipe. my family and i love her sangria #112772 so much that i have to make it in larger quantities as our neighbors clamor for it, too! i am posting the quantities i use to make lots more than BecR's original recipe. this is a red wine and citrus sangria and served best when chilled. it looks pretty in wine glasses with ice and slices of the fruit, too. thanks, BecR! -- posted by patticakes #3

This is one my favorites. . .can't believe it wasn't already on here! Quite popular in South Dakota for sure. It's best with Bud Light, Coors Light, Miller Light, Old Style, Natural Light. This is a super versatile recipe; drink it as is, add in a little olive juice (call it a poor man's martini), or add a dash or two of Tobasco. -- posted by JanuaryBride

Lavender and Strawberry Fruit Cup from Wolds Way Lavender Farm

A boozy lavender fruit cup made with vermouth, herbs and fresh strawberries! How good is that! This is another gem of a recipe that I discovered on a recipe card from Wolds Way Lavender Farm in North Yorkshire, England – which is just 10 minutes from my parent's cottage. The delicately flavoured drink is the perfect way to unwind after a long, hard day........It is almost better than Pimms, and, as Pimms is my favourite summertime tipple, that is really saying something!
White Sangria

Fresh, sweet and fruity - goes well with tapas or as a light cocktail, I even drink it with paella! Slightly different from the traditional one which calls for red wine, but I just can't drink red wine when it's too hot outside, so I tried with white wine and it turned out just as great.
Feel free to sub any other type of fruit according to season or taste, and where possible use liqueurs that match. -- posted by AdriMicina

I will spare you the details - this my friend, Judy & her husband, Ed want to use this as one of the mixed drinks for their shindig - they tried it and loved it and even though it seems like a lot of work - they say it is worth it. Bon Appetit Magazine, September 2009 Edition. "The Bloody Mary, to quote cocktail guru Dale DeGroff, is like "backyard barbecue: Everyone thinks his is the best." We just might be able to settle that debate.
Champagne Jello Shots

this recipe makes ***1 batch*** of only 1 color. A cute sophisticated jello shot...great for intimate dinner parties or new years eve! make any flavor your heart desires. I usually double the recipe and make 2 different colors and get a small cookie cutter like a circle or star ect....I alternate the colors by stacking them on top of each other in a little bit bigger than a shot glass (disposable) or clear mini cups I stack about 3-4 in each. everyone seems to love em' -- posted by Chef #572376

The Adjustable Rate

An interesting cocktail that looks like a great one from Barnonedrinks dot com. Original contributer was-- Bartender: Derek O’Neill Butler, Prime One Twelve Restaurant, Miami, FL. I interpretted the amounts as Zaar doesn't allow "parts" (I may update this once I make it). Here is the original for those who want to change it:

5 part(s) Pineapple Juice Fresh
1 part(s) Cruzan Black Cherry Rum
1 part(s) Hornitos Plata Tequila
1 splash(es) Orange Juice
1/2 part(s) DeKuyper Tropical Pineapple Schanpps

The website blurb made me laugh...maybe this will explain the drink as well:
"What once seemed a bargain came to claim its dues. Adjustable rates soar. The housing market plummets. Buyers beware!" -- posted by Mommy Diva

It has only two ingredients, and I have experimented with different brands until I discovered what combination I preferred the most--but do experiment on your own to find out what brands you prefer.

Dan Akroyd created a "luxury vodka in a cool bottle" after being inspired by an ancient myth about the mystical powers of the 13 crystal skulls. In a weird bottle the "Crystal Head Vodka" sells for $44.95 for 750 ml. Am posting, as per a request.
(Christmas) Cocktail

In 1983 it was published in a Swedish food magazine. In this last number of the magazine it was published again and I remember that I tried it out way back when. It is a nice appetizer, not only for the holidays. In original it is called "Olles julcocktail" which means Olles Christmas cocktail but I remember that I first tried it out in the middle of summer.
Awesome Cucumber Infusion Summer Cocktail

Infusing vodka is really easy and gives your cocktails unique, pure flavors that can't be approximated by buying already-flavored vodka. This recipe also tells you how to make homemade sour mix, which is so much tastier than store-bought! This cocktail is always a huge hit at summer parties and barbecues. It's adapted from a cocktail served at the Delta Cafe in Portland, OR.
(This recipe is portioned for 16 drinks, but depending on the mix you like, you may end up with leftover juice, or sour, or vodka.) -- posted by CptShane

La Provence's Bourbon Old Fashioned

In November 2009, my husband and I were delighted to be able to have Sunday brunch at Chef John Besh's restaurant, La Provence, in Lacombe, Louisiana. We fell in love with everything we ate that day, and I purchased a signed copy of Chef Besh's cookbook "My New Orleans". Our waitress was wonderful; the manager was personable & friendly. We even chatted with the head chef, Erick Loos IV, and he signed my cookbook, too. We also had a wonderful drink - an Old Fashioned. Unfortunately, the recipe for this drink was not in the cookbook. So I emailed the restaurant and they graciously sent me their recipe. We cannot wait to go back! -- posted by Kat's Mom

Lorena's Michilada

I don't know if my friend Lorena made up her own recipe for this popular drink or if she got it from someone, but she's who I got it from- so she gets the credit! This is a great, sorta spicy but refreshing beer cocktail that pairs well with Salt & Vinegar chips and Mexican Novellas! Sort of like a Mexican Bloody Mary.. All the ingredients are adjustable to your own taste; want it spicier? Add more hot sauce. Tangier? More lemon! I use a 7oz bottle for one serving, but a regular 12oz bottle when I'm making two drinks or one large drink for myself, lol (I just don't quite double the other ingredients). -- posted by WithoutContext
