			<description>Very Middle Eastern and very tasty. A somewhat sophisticated brunch treat if you will, and would also make awesome finger food for tea or a dinner party. Especially if it's one of those where the meal is light but hors d'oeuvres are heavy. And can you believe this awesome treat is healthy and vegan? I couldn't! For some ideas, try a mix of Chinese red dates (I used 100%) with traditional dates. Put in a dash of ground pistachio and/or cardamom, how about a teensy bit of honey? There's a lot more I plan on doing with that huge thing of almonds I bought at BJ's.

She says last fall, Garth made a sad statement like only three more months until you make me that awesome German chocolate cake again! She made the cake the next day. She doubles the frosting recipe to frost the entire cake, because Garth likes extra frosting, but one recipe will frost the tops of the layers and do the trick just fine- unless you are Garth! If you have some frosting left over, it's good spread on graham cracker or on brownies. Okay, it's also good right off the spoon! 			<description>Light and flaky filled cookie.  One of my mother's dear friends, a woman of German heritage, shared this recipe with her more than 40 years ago. At the time, it had been in her family for more than 100 years!  It has always been my favorite cookie for special occasions and still is.
We use two variations for the filling:
the traditional orange date nut filling provided here or, mincemeat, a family favorite, during the holiday season. 
The filled cookies freeze well and can be baked off straight from the freezer.

I'm totally guessing at the yield. Zaar is listing the calorie and fat content (mostly fron the nuts) for a dozen cookines. Dividing 12 into that amount breaks down to each cookie having 33.5 calories. Bara Brith was brought to South America by the Welsh settlers who started arriving in 1865 and is known as torta negra (black cake) , becoming a traditional food item there.

There are many different recipes for this bread, which is baked and sold commercially. It is best eaten as soon as possible.

I am imagining this dipped in bittersweet chocolate (toes curling in anticipation LOL!)... Found this gem in The Washington Post who adapted it from a Jayne Sutton recipe in &amp;quot;Cookies Unlimited,&amp;quot; by Nick Malgieri. Make room on the platters, these little babies are coming on board! Pssst!  Super easy to make too!  based on the review I made some chnges when I got to this recipe today. They turned out fluffy &amp;amp; chewy (&amp;amp; ORANGE!). I put my changes in parentheses so the original recipe is still here too. I suspect letting the mix sit for an hour would help if using 2 eggs. BTW - I recommend NEVER buying the Hiram Walker's Pumpkin Spice Brandy - undrinkable in anything but oddly enough worked well here. Go figure. 			<description>No candied fruits!  I made a similar fruitcake last year and was anxious to make it again as it was delicious.  It has just enough batter to hold all the luscious ingredients together. I searched everywhere and finally found this which is really close.  I use a silicone tube pan.  I've fallen in love with the silicone bakeware. Recipes never stick! This came originally from the Better Homes and Gardens Annual Recipes, 2008. 
I substituted butter for the shortening to avoid trans fats, and walnuts for Brazil nuts for taste. Last year I bought the bags of dried blueberries and cherries separately...a little pricey.  But this year I found a mixed bag of dried berries at Costco.
