Chicken Taco Soup

I found this hearty recipe online several years ago and often make it instead of chili. Made mostly of canned ingredients, this soup lets the slow cooker do the work for you so you can go about your hectic schedule. This recipe is very adaptable to your personal taste. To add more kick simply omit the one can of diced tomatoes and add a second can of diced tomatoes with green chilies. -- posted by Chef #396295

Andy's South-West Chicken Soup (Atkins-Low Carb)

I came up with this recipe during my first phase of atkins and I needed a break from straight meat and green beans (God, would I love a piece of pizza right now) Nevertheless, I basically just used what I had available at the time, however, my roomate tried this soup and thought it was great. So, I thought I would share it with the rest of you. -- posted by Chef #389904

Chili Con Carne

This recipe came from my Pillsbury Cookbook. This has been my favorite way to eat chili since 1995. The recipe listed here includes my modifications. When in season, I have substituted the green chilis with a habenero and another time with a habenero plus 2 tabasco peppers. Both of these, especially the latter, made it a HOT chili. -- posted by Scrivener1

Sweet Orange Glazed Pork Chops

I love chinese food and my crock pot, oh yeah, and pork chops, so this is what I came up with. It is sweet though, so if you don't really like that you can try cutting some of the brown sugar of course, but I'm sure that this will effect the glaze if you take out too much. Think of the sweetness of chinese orange sauce, like on orange chicken only on tender, slow cooked pork chops. I know it sounds like a little bit of work at the end but it's really not. Don't worry about putting the chops back in at the end if you don't want to, you could just put foil over your platter.
I served mine on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes and parsnips (just boiled and mashed, but you could try puree) and a side of green beans. The colors of the mash and chops were great and I really feel like the sweetness of both were really good together. You may want to do 1/3 regular potatoe, 1/3 sweet potatoe (or yams), and 1/3 parsnips if you don't want it to be too sweet.
I also think that this would be great on a pork loin too, shredded up with the glaze for like a sweet pulled pork sandwich, or maybe chunk up the chops with the glaze in a vegetable stir fry : ) -- posted by soulcandybt

Perfect Spaghetti Sauce (Crock-Pot)

As a kid, I was pretty picky about spaghetti sauce, and then mom got this one from a friend...SO good! Now that I have kids of my own, they love it and I've been able to improvise on the recipe myself to make it both kid- and adult-friendly! An easy meal that you don't have to think about and will make your house smell delicious! Plenty for freezing,as well, for another day. Hope you enjoy!

*Sometimes, I'll replace some of the tomato sauce with crushed tomatoes and add a little more spice and garlic to compensate*

**I use hot Italian sausage mixed with ground beef for a little more of a kick** -- posted by Chef #1240616

Rice Cooker Chocolate Cake

This dark, rich, chocolate cake is perfect with coffee on a lazy afternoon or as a special treat for a birthday cake. It has no eggs or milk so is ok for Vegans. Top it with your favourite frosting, or just sprinkle powdered sugar on it to 'finish' it for the table.I love the recipe as I alway seem to be out of milk and eggs, so this recipe suits my house!
I do not have an oven so need something that works in rice cooker. Rice Cookers vary but this recipe seems to work just fine in most. Set the cooker for slow cook if you have that function. -- posted by circle3

Ham Barbecue Sandwiches Pittsburgh Style

This is a recipe originally published in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette for a regional favorite using local products, Heinz ketchup and Isaly's chipped ham, although shaved deli ham is a good substitute. This is a quick and easy crowd pleaser that can be doubled or tripled. This is a favorite on football Sundays watching our favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are great fresh or reheated. -- posted by UrbanDesiMommy

Salsa Chicken Slow Cooker Recipe

so good! and so easy! my boyfriend and I seriously make this 2 days in a row so that we have a big pot of it. You can make it into a sandwich, or eat it with tortilla chips for a party, or you can put it over rice and enjoy it that way! This recipe came from a friend, she got it from a recipe book at the dollar store, I would have thought it would already be on here, but nope.
Indian Butter Chicken Slow Cooker

I have been looking for a good Butter Chicken recipe that can be done in a slow cooker for quite some time. I found this one on http://crockpot365.blogspot.com. I am yet to try this recipe but wanted to post it so I wouldn't lose it. These notes are posted with the recipe: This is so good! I could have gone with a bit more cayenne, because I'm a nut, but the depth of flavor is wonderful. You can tweak the amount of garam masala and curry to your own taste---it's fine to add more at the end of cooking.

This is a winner recipe. Thank you so much, Kindra! -- posted by Becwil75

Chuck's Daddy-O Beans

In 1990, I was fortunate to get involved with a great family who gave me a home and a place to feel safe (thanks, George) and pretty quickly, I came to think of Chuck as "dad". I don't know where he got this recipe or how much trial-and-error was involved, but whenever the family gets together...these are always at the top of the request list. I recently got it from him as part of an online recipe exchange. The secret is the flavor of the teriyaki sauce cooking down and bringing the whole thing together; he prefers the brand sold at Costco but use the one you like the best. I also think the green chiles are just as essential to the finished dish as well. Add more or less of any of the ingredients to suit your taste and whatever brands you prefer--that is the beauty of this recipe. For extra pizzazz...throw in a pound or so of ground meat...pre-cooked or just broken up. -- posted by Hungry Hogareno

Vegan Baked Beans a La Crock Pot

At the time I'm posting this there are two other vegan baked bean recipes on the Zaar, both look really good. I didn't find one for the crock pot however, using dried beans and no tomatoes.....so hopefully this fits that bill for someone else out there! I found the recipe online - http://www.beanbible.com. There are only a few things I tweaked, one being Bakon yeast. Unfortunately not something I'm at all familiar with or have ever seen in the stores, but I found out a little more about it and replaced it with some nutritional yeast & liquid smoke. Adjust the heat as you wish. NOTE: Soak the beans ahead of time (night before). The cooking time doesn't reflect the overnight soaking of the beans, but it does reflect the crock pot cooking time if set to low. Hope you enjoy! -- posted by magpie diner

Crock Pot Pork Loin Roast

A great recipe for a rolled pork roast like the ones from Costco that tend to be a little dry & tough. The sauce can be thickened with a flour/water sauce for a flavorful gravy with pepper added. No salt is necessary as the condensed soup adds plenty!
I am becoming a huge fan on the crock pot. This recipe is something I whipped together on a whim. It was my first time cooking a roast and I felt if I did it in a crock pot there was NO WAY I could mess it up! Turned out great and meat was so tender, it was more like a stew!
Slow Cooker Tamale Pie

Looking for a easy mexican dinner. look no further! My husband and I love this stuff since I work till after 10pm most nights. Smack it in the crockpot at night and my lunch is waiting for me when I wake up the next morning. I leave the seasoning open because everyone has a different taste for heat I don't do a lot of chili powder with the ancho chili's but I love cumin and the other seasoning. Another good suggestion is mixing green onions into the gorn muffin mix, I top with shedded smoked cheddar cheese and a little sour cream. Hope you enjoy. -- posted by Mrs Spencer

Pork Roast to Die For

I needed something tender and delectable--moist and melt-in-your-mouth like, that didn't require a whole lot of fuss. One pork roast and a crock pot's help later, perfection. I can't even tell you. How. Good. It. Really. Is.

NOTE: When I say "boneless pork roast," it must be one of a boneless "blade/Boston/shoulder" cut. Every store labels them differently, but look for at least one of these labels. If it doesn't say that, don't bother. The roast should be well marbled, and have a decent layer (1/4-inch?) of fat on one side. -- posted by Battle in Seattle
