Depression Crab Salad

This was fixed by my grandmother every Thanksgiving and was my favorite dish. It was a dish her family made during the depression, crab must have been prevalent then. Very simple to make with only 4 ingredients. My niece that hates onions even loves this. My measurements are not exact because I just throw it together, you may need to adjust it some. Wouldn't be Thanksgiving without it in our family. -- posted by :)shirley(:

Crab Salad W/ a Little Tang!...tina Style

A long time ago you used to be able to get a crab salad at the grocery store that had a vinegar base...not the thick mayo base that you find now. I started making this years ago after many frustrating attempts to find it commercially. It is so good for parties. You can serve this with anything, tortillas, bread, crackers, etc.. Enjoy! -- posted by tinala

Seafood Aspic

This has always been my favorite salad. It's kind of like eating seafood cocktail, but better with the creaminess of mayonnaise. I usually use canned seafood for this, well drained, but it's great with fresh if you have it. Great in the summer. Try it!
Crab Salad My Way

I looked for crab salad recipes, but a lot had celery and a lot had way too much mayo for our likes. Feel free to use more mayo-I just wanted our crab moistened rather than “gloopy”. We cooked our own mud crab for this, but I think it would work with tinned or imitation (something I have never tasted). I haven't allowed for the catching, cooking, chilling or picking of the crab in prep times. -- posted by JustJanS

Seafood Salad Martini With Vodka Habanero Dressing

This was included in a Baltimore Sunpapers restaurant review several years ago, with professional-sized quantities, DH called the chef, and he kindly broke it down to more manageable proportions. All together, it is quite expensive, but a BIG hit at a "gourmet" dinner party. I found fairly inexpensive large martini glasses at Marshall's and Pier 1, heavy glass with a blue rim. A tad labor-intensive, but worth it. -- posted by NurseJaney

An interesting combination of flavors that will get you out of the pasta salad doldrums. This recipe is a nice guideline, but you may want to add more or less of each ingredient to suit your taste. So easy to prepare, this salad is great for pot lucks and picnics, or for lunch at the office. -- posted by Chef Heather

Bread and Crab Salad

Here's something really different; crab salad made with bread! Everyone in my family loves this stuff. It's very rich, so for health reasons I don't make it very often. You can also use shrimp or a combination of crab and shrimp. The amount of butter is an estimate, and time doesn't reflect the overnight refrigeration. Don't forget to allow time for marinating which is listed as cooking time. The recipe did not say to refrigerate while marinating, but I do. Easy to assemble. Most of the prep time is for chopping, but you may do that in less than 30 minutes if your knife skills are better than mine.
Simply the Best Crab Salad

This recipe is from Jean-Georges, New York. I found it on Millie-YOR's blog.

Here are some serving suggestions:

1) In a martini glass put a layer of cubed avocado, cubed tomato, cubed mango, crab, one basil leaf for decoration.

2) For a nice luncheon sandwich put a layer of sliced avocado, mango, crab, on a croissant.

3) Take a tall metal ring and put a layer of cubed avocado, cubed tomato, cubed mango, and crab. Push down and compress. Remove the ring and top tower with basil. You can also put baby greens on the side or small chopped tomatoes. -- posted by Bolistoli

Mama's Crab and Pineapple Salad (Krabyuie Salat)

This humble and interesting dish graced every festive family meal, created by my host-mom in Voronezh, Russia. We've shared it back home with friends here in the states, and they get hooked! It seems like the flavors wont mix, but they do perfectly. The dish is so versatile, it can be served cold with crackers or baguette slices, between slices of bread for a sandwich, or pop it in the oven for a gooey cheesy dip. If you can afford it, try fresh crab. But honestly, the imitation crab does just fine. Try it, you'll like it! :) -- posted by JackandDawn
