Island Pina Colada

Ever wonder why the Piña Coladas you make at home taste nothing like the ones served at your favorite tropical destination? Most recipes simplify the colada into a mixture of rum, pineapples & ice with a splash of coconut milk. A flavorful Piña Colada has two kinds of rum (light and dark), cream and even bitters added which make the concoction a true tropical delight. Use high quality Puerto Rican rum in this recipe for the best result. Enjoy! -- posted by NcMysteryShopper

Red, White and Blue Jello Shots

Happy 4th of July! This will make enough shots for your party or barbeque. (About two cookie sheets full.) You can always experiment from here depending on if you have any other liquors in the house. Cook time is chill time.
EDIT: I've edited this to improve the coconut shots. Also, Jello has started to make "Limited Edition" Pina Colada flavored jello which is perfect for the white ones. It comes out in a cream color and you'll only need to add water and liquor. -- posted by Panthur

My Ty (Mai Tai Cocktail)

The Mai Tai Cocktail is a beautiful tribute to rum....fine aged rum. If you like rum, you will like this strong cocktail. Contrary to popular belief, this is not a fruity cocktail and I cringe when I see bartenders add fruit juices to this perfect drink. If you like fruity drinks try a zombie or Maui Mai Tai - but if you like rum, this is a celebration. This is NOT the original Mai Tai recipe, but it is a fabulous version . The original Mai Tai was created in the early 40's by Trader Vic in Oakland. The name of the drink comes from the reaction of its first samplers, who were from Tahiti, when they exclaimed "Mai Tai - Roa Ae", which means "Out of This World - The Best". -- posted by NcMysteryShopper

Bbc Cocktail (Baileys, Banana, Coco Lopez) Frozen Dessert Drink

BBC Cocktail (Baileys, Banana, Coco Lopez) is a decadent frozen dessert drink. They are perfect for summer blended with ice. My co-worker introduced these to me. Think she first discovered them on a cruise vacation then recreated them back at home. They are the latest rage amongst our circle of friends now. Some people add a dash of pineapple juice too, but haven't done that yet. Also, can be made with fresh banana blended in as well. -- posted by BlondieItaliana

Authentic Cypriot Taverna Brandy Sour Cocktail

These were without doubt the most popular drink that we served in the restaurant I ran in Cyprus! They are known as the National Drink of Cyprus, and are delicious as well as being very refreshing. We used to make these with the local Cypriot brandy, which is not as strong as normal French brandy or cognac and has a delectable caramel taste to it. We also used the local angostura bitters, known as "Cock Drops", which as you can imagine, brought raised eyebrows and howls of laughter from overseas guests and tourists! A little history behind the cocktail: The Cypriot Brandy Sour style was developed following the introduction of the first blended brandy made on Cyprus, by the Haggipavlu family, in the early 1930s. The cocktail was developed at the Forest Park Hotel, in the hill-resort of Plátres in the beautiful Troodos Mountain range, for the young King Farouk of Egypt, who often stayed at the hotel during his frequent visits to the island. The Brandy Sour was introduced as an alcoholic substitute for iced tea, as a way of disguising the Muslim monarch's preference for Western-style cocktails. The drink subsequently spread to other bars and hotels in the fasionable Platres area, before making its way to the coastal resorts of Limassol, Paphos and Kyrenia, and the capital Nicosia. With increasing numbers of tourists visiting the island in the last thirty years, and the large garrison of British servicemen stationed on the island, the Cypriot Brandy Sour is now known around the world. This is how we used to make them in our restaurant - a trade secet shared!! -- posted by French Tart

St. Vincent Rum Punch

I spent quite a bit of time living on the island of St. Vincent in the West Indies and picked up this Rum Punch recipe from the Grand View Hotel there. I cut the ingredients in half as the original recipe was for a huge quantity. Also, the amount of rum and water was unclear. I interpreted the rum to water ratio as 1 part rum to 2 parts water since the original recipe does not quantify an actual amount of either. If you use a normal size bottle of rum and double the amount for the water, you should be fine. It takes a few days to make, but is definitely worth the effort. -- posted by Green Cuisine

Upside-Down Tequila Sunrise

This is such a great cocktail! It's great on taste, easy to make and so pretty! This recipe only makes one drink so it might be wise to go for the pitcher-load! It's sure to be a winner at your house, or pool, or anywhere!
BTW: Torani syrups are fantastic, non-alcohol and do so much to flavor your drinks, put in your coffee, in recipes, and include it in your desserts. They come in a ton of flavors, such as caramel, chocolate biscotti, white chocolate, and that's only a few. A lot of them are sugare free. Enjoy!
