Emeril's Sazerac Cocktail

From Emeril Lagasse's book "Every Day's a Party"; posted for ZWT 5. From the intro to the recipe: "When the Sazerac was first created, it contained an imported cognac made by a company called Sazerac-Deflorge et Fils of Limoges, France. The mixture changed in the late 1870's, when American rye whiskey was substituted for the brandy." The original recipe is attributed to Antoine Amadie Peychaud, a Creole apothecary. It was originally served in an egg cup, known as a 'coquetier' in French. Some historians think the word 'cocktail' comes from a mispronunciation of the word. This recipe was provided by Marcelle Bienvenu after a newspaper assignment. -- posted by alligirl

Frozen Mixed Berry Margarita

This is the easiest, most delicious Margarita recipe I have ever made. The ingredients are estimated, because I actually use the juice can to measure to make things easy. You can also substitute raspberries, strawberries, or any other frozen berry instead....our leave the berries out completely for an original flavor. YUMMO! -- posted by Cooks4_6

A light, summery cocktail, Russian by background. A recipe from Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood California (found in Maxim magazine). NOTE: I really liked this one. . .very faint cucumber taste but great fresh cucumber smell. I used 1.5 packets of stevia instead of sugar with great results. I also served mine over ice as it was a bit too potent for me as written!!! -- posted by JanuaryBride

Purple Basil Lemonade

From Cooking Light Magazine's July 2009 edition: "In this recipe, basil is crushed with sugar to release the oils. If you don't have a mortar and pestle, process the basil, sugar and about 1/4 cup of water in a food processor or blender." I am eager to serve this at my next party. The recipe doesn't indicate this, but I would personally place the strained lemonade into a pitcher and refrigerate until ready to serve. When having a party, it's always best to prepare ahead if possible! -- posted by MarthaStewartWanabe

Tropical Passion Rum Punch

This recipe came about one day when we had an interesting juice in the house, a great thirst and a desire for something a little different.
This is definitely not for the kids.
The name came from the location...we live in Jamaica (Tropical), and the colour...sort of a purple which comes from the pink of the Juice and the blue in the curacao (Purple passion) and the possible outcome....
This is a no fooling around Rum Punch..approach with caution and enjoy.

Please note: I used Guava-Pineapple Juice which has a pink colour, but any combination of tropical juices Mango with Pineapple etc. will work. The pineapple seems to be key. I use Appleton's Rum because it is Jamaican and great Rum. -- posted by Donalda

Pickled Bloody Mary

I'm the type of girl who can be found drinking pickle juice from the jar. I'm also the type who will sit around and experiment with bloody mary concoctions, trying to find the best combination. Imagine my joy at finding a recipe that marries two of my favorite things together. The pickle juice bloody mary is delicious, even for people who aren't pickle obsessed. I owe this recipe to the Strub's pickles website. -- posted by OwlMonkey

Lavender and Strawberry Fruit Cup from Wolds Way Lavender Farm

A boozy lavender fruit cup made with vermouth, herbs and fresh strawberries! How good is that! This is another gem of a recipe that I discovered on a recipe card from Wolds Way Lavender Farm in North Yorkshire, England – which is just 10 minutes from my parent's cottage. The delicately flavoured drink is the perfect way to unwind after a long, hard day........It is almost better than Pimms, and, as Pimms is my favourite summertime tipple, that is really saying something!
The Adjustable Rate

An interesting cocktail that looks like a great one from Barnonedrinks dot com. Original contributer was-- Bartender: Derek O’Neill Butler, Prime One Twelve Restaurant, Miami, FL. I interpretted the amounts as Zaar doesn't allow "parts" (I may update this once I make it). Here is the original for those who want to change it:

5 part(s) Pineapple Juice Fresh
1 part(s) Cruzan Black Cherry Rum
1 part(s) Hornitos Plata Tequila
1 splash(es) Orange Juice
1/2 part(s) DeKuyper Tropical Pineapple Schanpps

The website blurb made me laugh...maybe this will explain the drink as well:
"What once seemed a bargain came to claim its dues. Adjustable rates soar. The housing market plummets. Buyers beware!" -- posted by Mommy Diva

A tasty cocktail using Cruzan black cherry rum from Bartender dot com. You can certainly increase the amounts depending on the size glass used - just keeping the ratios 1:1:2 . 1 part the black cherry rum, 1 part light rum and 2 parts pineapple juice. -- posted by Mommy Diva

Beautiful

Years ago, I discovered this wonderful cognac-based drink with a distinctive French origin. It has only two ingredients, and I have experimented with different brands until I discovered what combination I preferred the most--but do experiment on your own to find out what brands you prefer. It's more of an after-dinner drink to sip and enjoy as you slowly savor every last bit of it. And I really do hope you enjoy it! -- posted by NorthwestGal
