Bananas Foster Punch

To make a virgin version, add an extra one-fourth cup milk and one-half teaspoon rum extract in place of the rum. Cooking Light, November 2007.
1958: Eggnog

A Craig Claiborne classic from The New York Times. One just can't do any better than this one. Cook time is chill time for the alcohol to remove any raw egg taste. I don't make it unless it gets really cold - so, for those who have snow ... make a batch of this & put another log on the fire. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! -- posted by Buster's friend

Peach-Bourbon Sours

Awesome Cucumber Infusion Summer Cocktail

Infusing vodka is really easy and gives your cocktails unique, pure flavors that can't be approximated by buying already-flavored vodka. This recipe also tells you how to make homemade sour mix, which is so much tastier than store-bought! This cocktail is always a huge hit at summer parties and barbecues. It's adapted from a cocktail served at the Delta Cafe in Portland, OR.
(This recipe is portioned for 16 drinks, but depending on the mix you like, you may end up with leftover juice, or sour, or vodka.) -- posted by CptShane

Frozen Festive Vodka or Tequila Bottles With Herbs and Berries

Another GREAT Jamie Oliver recipe, and one that I am preparing for New Year's Eve! Jamie says you can use any spirits or liquor, but he suggestes vodka and tequila in his recipe. These bottles look SO festive and pretty, I plan to use holly, berries, bay leaves, fruit slices, ivy and woody herbs for my bottles this year. DO check that the liquor bottle fits INSIDE the plastic water bottle first! This recipe idea for serving liquor originates from Scandinavia. (Prep time is for freezing the bottles.) -- posted by French Tart

La Provence's Bourbon Old Fashioned

In November 2009, my husband and I were delighted to be able to have Sunday brunch at Chef John Besh's restaurant, La Provence, in Lacombe, Louisiana. We fell in love with everything we ate that day, and I purchased a signed copy of Chef Besh's cookbook "My New Orleans". Our waitress was wonderful; the manager was personable & friendly. We even chatted with the head chef, Erick Loos IV, and he signed my cookbook, too. We also had a wonderful drink - an Old Fashioned. Unfortunately, the recipe for this drink was not in the cookbook. So I emailed the restaurant and they graciously sent me their recipe.
Lorena's Michilada

I don't know if my friend Lorena made up her own recipe for this popular drink or if she got it from someone, but she's who I got it from- so she gets the credit! This is a great, sorta spicy but refreshing beer cocktail that pairs well with Salt & Vinegar chips and Mexican Novellas! Sort of like a Mexican Bloody Mary.. All the ingredients are adjustable to your own taste; want it spicier? Add more hot sauce. Tangier? More lemon! I use a 7oz bottle for one serving, but a regular 12oz bottle when I'm making two drinks or one large drink for myself, lol (I just don't quite double the other ingredients). -- posted by WithoutContext

Blue Moon Special

To celebrate the blue moon on New Year's Eve I made & enjoyed a version of a drink from Blue Ice American Vodka. The original recipe is called a Blue Ghost but I changed it up & changed the name to fit the special occasion. The second full moon in a month is called a blue moon. December 31, 2009's blue moon was coupled with a partial lunar eclipse. The next time a blue moon will fall on a New Year's Eve will be in the year 2028 and at that time a full lunar eclipse will occur.
I'm usually an Absolut vodka gal, but in this case I needed a gluten free vodka. Amazingly, I found a vodka made in my home state out of our famous Idaho russet potatoes. This drink is smooth & so beautiful! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. :) -- posted by **Tinkerbell**

I've seen recipes with a few of these ingredients... but it tastes so much better with them all together! The amounts are estimates. I tend to add a little more than what's listed just because I like my drinks strong :) -- posted by yamakarasu

Here is a sparkling reipe for a classic sangria. Long enjoyed in Spain, sangria gained more far-reaching popularity when it was served at the Spanish Pavilion at the 1964 World's Fair in Queens, New York.
Irish Coffee

I recently returned from Ireland, where I was taught how to make 'real' Irish coffee. I haven't seen any recipe exactly like this elsewhere - I definitely didn't know this was how its made - so I thought I'd share. It's yummy, slightly sweet, and perfect for those cold nights in Ireland, especially when made with decaf. -- posted by StephanieBamBam

This recipe is from "Everyday with Rachael Ray" magazine. This drink is so good and refreshing. The best part is eating the fruit thats been sitting in the punch. The recipe calls for some sugar and I usually only use half the amount because I dont like it so sweet but sweeten to taste. -- posted by Chef #391008
