This juice is great skin tonic, because avocadoes are good for the skin (lots of vitamin E!). The parsley, asparagus and orange are good cleansers. A much more affordable skin treatment than Oil of Olay! :-) -- posted by Super Wifey

Cuban Sunset

A 'coctel' in old Havana was a pre-dinner cocktail party with finger food and a variety of rum drinks. Bacardi white rum had its birth in Cuba, so it is a natural pairing with the nectar of the guava or 'guayaba', one of the most popular and most widely used fruits in the Cuban culture.
Sparkling White Sangria

It's the Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider that makes this recipe. It provides sweetness as well as bubbles. A cheap wine works as well as a pricey one.
Delicious Organic Green Smoothy

When my breastfed daughter was around 10 months I started noticing something wasnt quite right, so I went to my Midwife & it turns out I had extremely low iron. Normal is 12 & I was at 7. She told me to be sure to eat my leafy greens, we'll in the hot humidity of South Western Florida the cooler your food is the better! This is so good, my daughter & I drink one every other day now & my iron level is up to a 13 after just one month!!! I can just imagine what its done for her!

I have tried many variations to switch it up a little, adding yogurt makes for a smoother texture (and the active cultures never hurt) Apple Juice can be substituted if you dont have OJ in the house. Mango (i used frozen to avoid the prep) Use your imagination -- posted by mrs.cubana

Purple Basil Lemonade

From Cooking Light Magazine's July 2009 edition: "In this recipe, basil is crushed with sugar to release the oils. If you don't have a mortar and pestle, process the basil, sugar and about 1/4 cup of water in a food processor or blender." I am eager to serve this at my next party. The recipe doesn't indicate this, but I would personally place the strained lemonade into a pitcher and refrigerate until ready to serve. When having a party, it's always best to prepare ahead if possible! -- posted by MarthaStewartWanabe

Old-Fashioned Lemon Verbena Lemonade Syrup

Pull up a hammock, select a good book and make a jug of this cooling lemonade to refresh you as you gently sway and wile away the long, hot hours! A simple zingy lemonade syrup that is added to water to dilute and is compulsory for hot, humid days! Lemon Verbena is one of my favourite herbs and is a welcome addition to my walled herb garden here in France. The syrup is also amazing if poured over ice creams and summer berries for a tangy citrus flavour. Add an attractive label and a sprig of lemon verbena leaves for a thoughtful summer gift. -- posted by French Tart

Lavender, Lemon and Honey Tea from Wolds Way Lavender Farm

A wonderful recipe that I discovered on a recipe card from Wold's Way Lavender Farm in North Yorkshire, England! This magical lavender farm is just down the road from my parent's house and is high on my "must visit" list when I go home to England. I have found that this tea is a miracle worker for headaches, head colds and colds in general........the soothing honey helps sore throats whilst the lemon contains essential vitamin C, and the lavender provides a calming and refreshing element to this herbal tea or tisane. Although this is mainly served hot, I have made this during the summer months as an iced tea, as it's perfect for hot, sultry days. -- posted by French Tart

This is another gem of a recipe that I discovered on a recipe card from Wolds Way Lavender Farm in North Yorkshire, England – which is just 10 minutes from my parent's cottage. The delicately flavoured drink is the perfect way to unwind after a long, hard day........It is almost better than Pimms, and, as Pimms is my favourite summertime tipple, that is really saying something!
I got this recipe from my Spanish teacher, who was from Bogota, in the early 1970s.
Orange-Earl Grey Iced Tea

From EatingWell Magazine (JulAug 2009): Get a little pick-me-up with this orange-infused Earl Grey iced tea. Tea is rich in flavonoids that my help reduce your risk of Alzheimer's and diabetes, plus help you have healthier teeth and gums and stronger bones. You can help preserve the flavonioids in iced tea by adding something acidic - like the orange juice in this recipe. Use Splenda for a more diabetic-friendly tea. NOTE: prep/cook time does not include 2-hour chill time. -- posted by FloridaNative

Frozen Festive Vodka or Tequila Bottles With Herbs and Berries

Another GREAT Jamie Oliver recipe, and one that I am preparing for New Year's Eve! Jamie says you can use any spirits or liquor, but he suggestes vodka and tequila in his recipe. These bottles look SO festive and pretty, I plan to use holly, berries, bay leaves, fruit slices, ivy and woody herbs for my bottles this year. DO check that the liquor bottle fits INSIDE the plastic water bottle first! This recipe idea for serving liquor originates from Scandinavia.
La Provence's Bourbon Old Fashioned

In November 2009, my husband and I were delighted to be able to have Sunday brunch at Chef John Besh's restaurant, La Provence, in Lacombe, Louisiana. We fell in love with everything we ate that day, and I purchased a signed copy of Chef Besh's cookbook "My New Orleans". Our waitress was wonderful; the manager was personable & friendly. We even chatted with the head chef, Erick Loos IV, and he signed my cookbook, too. We also had a wonderful drink - an Old Fashioned. Unfortunately, the recipe for this drink was not in the cookbook. So I emailed the restaurant and they graciously sent me their recipe.
