Sassy's Summer Berry Crisp

This is a wonderful Summer Dessert. You can use whatever berries you can get your hands on. The combination of the apples and cherries are just awsome! In the summer I serve it with ice cream, as that is a big hit with the kids; both big and small! Don't be scared to mix and match whatever kind of fruit you need to use up.
Door County Cherry Bars

This recipe is from The Back Street Deli in Eagle, Wisconsin. Eagle is in Door County, and Door County is an area known for its wonderful cherries (and it is among the major producers of cherries in the U.S.)These are a delicious bar just as they are, but they are also great when you put 1/4-1/2 cup of white baking chips on top during the last 5 minutes of baking. Of course, the original recipe calls for Door County cherries, but any sweet cherry may be used (they suggest Bing). -- posted by Vino Girl

Soft-Fruit Fool

The soft-fruit culinary sibling of the Fresh Fruit Fool. There is no foolishness about these two desserts! Traditional English fruit fools derive their name from the French word 'fouler', meaning to crush. Fortunately, this word was modified to 'fool': after all, not too many of us would be keen to be making, serving or eating 'foul' fruits! This recipe is one I have adapted from the Australian publication by Reader's Digest of a book jam-packed with traditional Australian recipes: 'Family Recipe Scrapbook: tried and trusted recipes for today's cooks'. I bought the book in preparation for the 2005 Zaar World Tour, so I could track down familiar recipes I've eaten often or heard of but not previously eaten. What I love about the recipes in this book is that from whatever decade or century past they come, they have been updated to suit C21st tastes. This is a prepare-ahead recipe, and the preparation and cooking times below do not include macerating and cooling times. BTW, 500g Australian = 455g Canadian = 1 pound American. -- posted by bluemoon downunder

Cherries, Amaretto Sour Cream and Brown Sugar

I was about to make Sheri D's Amaretto Sourcream Strawberries #161835, when my mom stopped by with 3 pounds of fresh Bing Cherries from Eastern Washington. She makes the 5 hour drive annually in July just to get fresh cherries and stock up on wine for the year! She saw what I was making and suggested the following recipes for the cherries. I don't care for the taste of powdered sugar, and I don't think the recipe needs it, so I don't use it, but you decide. These are so simple, elegant (except for spitting out the pits) and yummy! Enjoy!! -- posted by Mrs Goodall

We came across a cherry tree while staying in southern France and used some of our lovely fruit in this recipe.
Cherry Sorbet

Created by accident, it is one of the most requested deserts that I make. A mixture of Rainer and Bing cherries seem to give it an extra special something. Use a non-oak white wine for this recipe. Also, if you are ever in Northern California, near the town of Placerville, stop by Latcham Vineyards and pick up a bottle of their Muscat Canelli & Gold Rush White wines. They are the original wines used in this recipe and easily the tastiest I've used to make it. If you're not into wine, substitute the amount for your choice of pure fruit juice. -- posted by blueyedwineaux

Cherry Galette

I discovered the ease of Recipe #94405 recently, and my non-baking self fell in love. When I was overloaded with sweet cherries, I had to find a galette recipe to use them. This is an adaptation of a recipe found at an online wine site. That recipe used a homemade crust, but I think that the part of the appeal of the galette for me, aside from satisfying my sweet tooth, is the ease of using the refrigerated ones. -- posted by ms_bold

Cherry Crisp Pie

I was in the mood for cherry pie but didn't want to make pie crust, so I improvised and made a cherry crisp in pie form. The recipe calls for fresh cherries, but you could substitute canned pie filling if they happen to be out-of-season. We liked this pie served a la mode and thought the sweetness of the crust and topping was a good balance with the tartness of the cherries. -- posted by MarthaStewartWanabe
