Christmas Angel Hershey Kiss Ornament Craft

I realize this isn't technically a recipe - but it does include food! It's an angel made using a Hershey's kiss. Very cute. These are fun for the tree, add to a package, or just leave one someones desk. I had a hard time finding the directions to make these...so I decided to post it here for everyone. I also wouldn't give these to children since it contains a straight pin. Just a decoration! Happy Holidays! -- posted by Jennibear

Christmas Strawberries

My cake decorating instructer brought these in for our Christmas Pary. They look like frosted strawberries. She said she had the recipe for years.
You could make them in orange, lemon or any fruit flaver or shape. she added green royal icing leaves to the top of the strawberries. ( I couldn't post the green icing leaves in the ingredients, it wasn't the proper terminology). They were very good and looked so cute on her platter. -- posted by Jane from Ohio

Mixed nut, coffee flavored brittle. I got a Kahlua Recipe Booklet with a purchase of Kahlua over 15 years ago. I give this as a gift to friends at Christmas. This is not a recipe to make around small children (candy is boiling hot) and you must follow the directions exactly. Be prepared to spend time stirring the candy to hard crack stage.
Peppermint Bark

This is a copycat of the William Sonoma Bark that costs $22 a lb. I have never tried their version, but when my mom told me she liked it, I went on a search to find the recipe. Make sure to buy white chocolate chips that contain coco butter to get a smooth melt- otherwise, you will end up with clumpy chocolate. Use good quality chocolate chips (belgian, semi-sweet, or bittersweet) for the best results. This recipe is so simple and delicious my only hope is that I'm able to save a piece for my mom.
Chocolate Covered Mints

These are from Helen Jones, a member of the Sewing Bee at my church. She is a fine quilter and even finer person. The passive time (chill time and waiting to harden) I count as "cooking time". This recipe was not as easy for me as it sounded, so I am updating the recipe as I learn better how to make these mints. Yes, they were worth the trouble!
Chocolate Covered Strawberries

YUMMY! Chocolate covered strawberries, with white chocolate drizzled over top. White chocolate has been added to the dark chocolate to make it creamy, rich, and sweet. It contrasts beautifully with the tart sweetness of the strawberries. -- posted by Devonviolet

Two-Step Truffles

These will be the easiest truffles you've ever made and they are sooo yummy! They are a tradition at my house for Christmas and we coat them in pink-tinted white chocolate for my daughter's birthday. You can shape them like eggs for Easter and dip them in dyed white chocolate or roll them in colored sugar. You can add different flavorings, different coatings, substitute milk, dark or white chocolate... the variations are endless. No matter how you finish these, they will taste great! The original recipe came from one of the chocolate companies several years ago but I can't remember which one. -- posted by Realtor by day, Chef by night

Almond Brickle- Easy

Yummy! This is my all-time favorite homemade candy. I love the combination of buttery toffee with nuts and chocolate! It's REALLY EASY to make- you don't even need a candy thermometer for this one. Sometimes I use pecans instead of almonds and I love it that way, too. Feel free to substitute your favorite nut for the almonds- just chop them up small. -- posted by Realtor by day, Chef by night

Country House Fudge- Martha Dixon

My Mom makes this amazing fudge every year at Christmas. It's very smooth, creamy, gooey and rich- not all dry and hard like alot of recipes I've tried. It's unlike any recipe I've found. You'll love it. You'll blow everyone away when you serve this! It calls for 4 cups nut meats but you can substitute those for whatever goodies you like (my all-time favorite is cherries). You can also add different flavorings to make your favorite! My Mom has made this with crushed cookie crumbs, nuts, coconut, peanut butter, caramel, cherries, raspberry flavor, mint flavor, rum flavor marshmallows... there are so many I can't remember them all. The recipe comes from a cookbook called "Martha Dixon's Copper Kettle Cook Book" from 1963. Martha Dixon was quite well-known at that time and had a cooking TV show that was really popular back then. There was no Food Network back then. It was Julia Child and later the Galloping Gourmet... remember them? Anyway, her show was on TV for several years. Some of you may remember her. -- posted by Realtor by day, Chef by night

Chocolate Caramels - Anne of Green Gables

Taken from "The Anne of Green Gables Cookbook", written by Lucy Maud Montgomery's granddaughter Kate Macdonald. I am posting this as it appears in the original book, which was written as a tribute to her father Stuart Macdonald (Montgomery's son). The recipes were written with precise instructions, geared for young cooks. All recipes were apparently tested by a 12 year old cook, with perfect results. Quote from the book: "I had one chocolate caramel once to years ago and it was simply delicious. I've often dreamed since then that I had a lot of chocolate caramels, but I always wake up just when I'm going to eat them." (from Anne of Green Gables, III) Other recipes are available in a cookbook prepared by chef #756627 - book #243014 *NOTE*: Posting to add to the cookbook. I have not personally made this recipe. Cooking time does not include time for chilling. -- posted by Diana #2

Our next door neighbor used to have one of these hidden in the cupboard to be brought out when we came over to play. It is basically a popcorn ball, smashed into a bundt pan, and cut and eaten like pieces of cake. This is a great way to use up leftover holiday M&M's or other candy.
Smooth Golden Fudge

A soft fudge flavoured with golden syrup an vanilla. Itnstead of golden syrup you can use corn syrup or honey. Or mix in melted chocolate before leaving to set. I've been trying to make a soft fudge for ages now, and this is the first that worked! It's all in the technique of cooling. A sugar thermometer is advised, as it makes things alot easier.

The time on this recipe is guessed..i don't time myself when i make things. Alot of your time will be taken up waiting for the syrup to cool to the correct temp, so be patient, and have a book handy! -- posted by Damie-anne

After making Sam#3's Recipe#305332, I liked it so much that I had to try different variations on the recipe, and this is one that I really like! (Posted with permission).

The is an old Colonel Sanders' recipe called 'Colonel's Candy,' which used to be sold in the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants. Rumor has it that the Colonel's wife invented it. Many people don't remember - but before drive though's the Colonel used to be sit-down affairs that you would get dressed up for to go to after church on Sunday. -- posted by Metlantis

I usually use fewer marshmallows than the recipe actually calls for b/c I don't care for them very much, but nobody has ever complained when I don't. :D -- posted by Chef #1284564

This is the ONLY fudge recipe that I make, which everyone looks forward to around the holidays. My niece Alisa saves her empty container from the year before and brings it to me for her annual refill. She loves to help make this, and it is so easy, even a child can do it! I personally prefer walnuts in my fudge, but it's great either way. It makes a nice gift when presented in a holiday tin.
Dark Chocolate Cranberry and Cashew Fudge

I recently made JackieOhNo!'s recipe #386677 and that showed me that it can actually be pretty easy to make fudge. So, it got my creative juices flowing and I decided to try to play around and see what I can do come up with a new fudge recipe. I love dark chocolate and so that is the direction I went and threw in the other ingredients to try to cut through the richness. I included a couple hours chilling time in the cooking time but really the longer you leave it the better it gets. -- posted by Sarah_Jayne

Bacon Caramels

“Where would we be without salt?” – James Beard
I casually sprinkled the thick-cut Hempler’s bacon with cayenne before frying to a nearly blackened crisp. Once the caramel had reached its perfect molten temperature I stirred in a handful of the bacon then reserved the rest to get sprinkled on top. The caramel set beautifully. Some were cut and served as is while a select few were covered in tempered dark chocolate. All of them were devoured.
