Sandshaker Bushwacker

The Sandshaker was a legend on Pensacola Beach, and it's signature drink started a festival there on the island. The government closed the bar and auctioned it off, but the drink remains a legend, and the festival lives on...complete with live music from vintage bands. I got this recipe from the bartender at the Sandshaker after they closed. Yum!! -- posted by breezermom

A light, summery cocktail, Russian by background. A recipe from Bar Lubitsch in West Hollywood California (found in Maxim magazine).
Rose Cottage Fragrant Old English Rose Liqueur Syrup

This is my mum's recipe for rose syrup - and the name of their cottage in England! Try to use old English shrub roses, as they are highly fragranced and impart a delicate flavour to the syrup. The correct word for this recipe would be a Shrub or a Ratafia, as it is fortified with brandy - however, Ratafia would also have fruit or almond kernels added; it would have been offered as a refreshing "pick-me-up" to gentile ladies - with water or lemonade added of course! This recipe is well over 100 years old and a bottle of this would make an unusual and delighttful gift. -- posted by French Tart

Old-Fashioned Lemon Verbena Lemonade Syrup

Pull up a hammock, select a good book and make a jug of this cooling lemonade to refresh you as you gently sway and wile away the long, hot hours! A simple zingy lemonade syrup that is added to water to dilute and is compulsory for hot, humid days! Lemon Verbena is one of my favourite herbs and is a welcome addition to my walled herb garden here in France. The syrup is also amazing if poured over ice creams and summer berries for a tangy citrus flavour. Add an attractive label and a sprig of lemon verbena leaves for a thoughtful summer gift. -- posted by French Tart

Mexican Sangrita

A zingy way to use up the bounty of garden tomatoes and a traditional accompaniment to tequila. When you're ready for the fun, drink the tequila, follow with very cold sangrita, then lime. You can simplify the whole preparation by using canned juices, but the result won't be quite as good as when you use fresh tomatoes and fruits. Use any leftover sangrita as marinade for meat. Chilling time not included in preparation time. -- posted by Molly53

Upside-Down Tequila Sunrise

This is such a great cocktail! It's great on taste, easy to make and so pretty! This recipe only makes one drink so it might be wise to go for the pitcher-load! It's sure to be a winner at your house, or pool, or anywhere!
BTW: Torani syrups are fantastic, non-alcohol and do so much to flavor your drinks, put in your coffee, in recipes, and include it in your desserts. They come in a ton of flavors, such as caramel, chocolate biscotti, white chocolate, and that's only a few. A lot of them are sugare free. Enjoy!

This is a very simple, quick recipe that I put together with what I happened to have available. The result is quite tasty!
Lavender, Lemon and Honey Tea from Wolds Way Lavender Farm

A wonderful recipe that I discovered on a recipe card from Wold's Way Lavender Farm in North Yorkshire, England! This magical lavender farm is just down the road from my parent's house and is high on my "must visit" list when I go home to England. I have found that this tea is a miracle worker for headaches, head colds and colds in general........the soothing honey helps sore throats whilst the lemon contains essential vitamin C, and the lavender provides a calming and refreshing element to this herbal tea or tisane. Although this is mainly served hot, I have made this during the summer months as an iced tea, as it's perfect for hot, sultry days. -- posted by French Tart

This is another gem of a recipe that I discovered on a recipe card from Wolds Way Lavender Farm in North Yorkshire, England – which is just 10 minutes from my parent's cottage. The delicately flavoured drink is the perfect way to unwind after a long, hard day........It is almost better than Pimms, and, as Pimms is my favourite summertime tipple, that is really saying something!
Berry Yoghurt Smoothie

I got this recipe from Sarah Owen's book "The Top 100 juices", published by Lifetime Distributers, Castle Hill, Australia.
Sarah Owen says "The super-nutrient vitamin C is needed for more than 300 diferent processes in the body, but it is easily wiped out by smoking, pollution and stress. Found in abundance in berries, vitamin C and other antioxidants help to quash the damaging free radicals that are associated with many illnesses."
The original recipe calls for natural bio yoghurt to be used, but any yoghurt will do.
This makes a large amount of smoothie, and if you're making it just for yourself, I'ld recommend halving it.
I hope you enjoy this healthy - but still tasty - smoothie :) -- posted by TALIA #3

Steve's Chocolate Protein Shake

I came up with this recipe to improve the taste and the consistency of the whey protein that I use. I use Optimum Nutrition Double Chocolate 100% Whey. Brand is important. Taste and cost vary greatly between brands!
I setup a dozen or so small plastic containers that contain the dry ingredients ahead of time so I don't have to measure out the individual ingredients every day. -- posted by smajc

Easy Orange Margarita

I prefer mixed drinks with the liquor disguised. I'm also attracted more so to a frosty drink especially if it's one with the ingredients I have on hand. This is a smooth and creamy margarita. Exchange the orange sherbet for other flavors for something different. The serving amount can easily be increased, made ahead and frozen. -- posted by gailanng

This is a fun & tasty treat to serve at parties. I found this on another web site when I was looking for jello shooters for our Hawaiian ethnic party. It didn't say what size of jello pkgs to use, I used small ones & for coconut milk I estimated @ 13 oz. I liked these because they weren't quite as sweet as other jello shooters & smooth tasting with the coconut milk. -- posted by Mustang Sally 54269

Frozen Festive Vodka or Tequila Bottles With Herbs and Berries

Another GREAT Jamie Oliver recipe, and one that I am preparing for New Year's Eve! Jamie says you can use any spirits or liquor, but he suggestes vodka and tequila in his recipe. These bottles look SO festive and pretty, I plan to use holly, berries, bay leaves, fruit slices, ivy and woody herbs for my bottles this year. DO check that the liquor bottle fits INSIDE the plastic water bottle first! This recipe idea for serving liquor originates from Scandinavia.
My Mom's Jamaican Style Carrot Juice

I've looked up several carrot juice recipes and none were quite the same as the one my mother used to make for us growing up. It's most popular in the Caribbean around the holidays and can double as an adult beverage with the addition of your favorite alcohol (namely rum or guinness). It has a milk base with spices like vanilla and nutmeg, so it's definitely not a carrot juice for those looking for health, but hey, there are carrots involved!

Obviously you may need to double, triple or quadruple your recipe to make enough for several people, but I chose to explain it in relation to the blender's capacity, since a regular blender can't hold a 5 pound bag of carrots. -- posted by PunzeePuss
