Burgers Lafayette (Special Seeping Sauce)

I am a fan of the HBO True Blood series. Their chef, Lafayette, came up with a sauce to keep your hamburgers, or beef roast, warm and moist until ready to serve. Just grill up some good hamburger patties and as they cook add them to the sauce until ready to serve. Yummy! -- posted by Chef #229369

Broccoli, Rice & Ground Beef Casserole

I make this casserole frequently for supper because it is cheap, fast, filling and great for kids. It's even good for very young kids who are just beginning to eat table foods. When I was a kid, we would have this as a side dish for holiday dinners, but I make it as a simple supper with crackers or dinner rolls and salad. You can substitute ingredients to fit what you have on hand. -- posted by AmberMomOfTwoBoys

Beef and Beer Chili, Easy Crockpot Recipe

Recipe from the WebMD Weight Loss Clinic. They say "chili is one of America's favorite lunch or dinner entrees -- especially during the winter months. Served with cornbread, it really hits the spot. I happen to be a "hot" spice lightweight, so you'll need to add extra chili powder, cayenne pepper, or jalapeño if you want a hotter chili." I haven't made this but I want it in my cookbook so I'm posting it to share. -- posted by Ann Marie F

Bourbon Beef Grill or Broil

I love grilled and broiled beef, but sometimes I have to buy a really tough piece of meat because of the expense.
Marinara Sauce

This is a really great sratch recipe for spagetti or pizza sauce to make ahead of time I put it in the crock pot on low to simmer. If you look at the label of most spagetti sauce you buy in a store the second or third ingredient is corn syrup. After this we don't ever buy red sauce.
Company Pot Roast

From The Southern Living Cookbook. The allspice and orange zest gives this an unusual flavor, but I cut WAY back on the orange zest, adding maybe about 1 tsp. Also I used olive oil instead of butter. At serving time, I added cornstarch to the liquid in the pan and made a gravy to serve on the side. -- posted by SuzV

Crockpot Beef and Beans

This is one of our "winter" recipes. It's almost a chili, but not quite. Tastes great over white rice, or serve with cornbread or crackers. Very filling. Recipe does not call for water, but I add some just to give it a little more of a "soupy" quality. (the can sizes on the beans are guesses, I didn't look when I picked them up, use standard size cans). -- posted by RHOS

Curried Ground Beef and Beans

My mom made this all the time. My dad and I loved it. It is so simple to make it was one of the first things I made on my own. The basic recipe has only four ingredients. You can customize to your own taste. I would try it first the way it is and modify as you see fit. I sometimes add onion and garlic when browning meat. I also have some nice hot curry that I mix with my regular curry to spice it up a bit. -- posted by Deglazing Dad

Crock Pot Beef Chili Beans

Very easy to put together. I have a 6qt All-clad crock pot with the insert that I'm able to use on the stove top as well, which comes in sooo handy. Otherwise, just brown your beef in a large skillet, drain, and transfer to your crockpot. This makes a good size batch so if your crock pot is much smaller, just try cutting the recipe in half. If you work during the day, this can be thrown together the evening before, stuck in the fridge, then started before you leave for work. Can't get any easier than that! -- posted by Noni Suzanne

My husband and I needed to use up some beef and didn't have a whole lot in the house and this is what we came up with it. Turned out surprisingly awesome! -- posted by CanadianGirl80

Slow Cooker Beef Stew With Guinness

The meat in this stew is the most tender I have ever had. This recipe is a combination of two that I put together, one which I liked the cooking technique and the other that I liked the flavor of. I would suggest testing your slow cooker to see if it cooks hot. Ours does, so 8 hours does it for optimal tenderness. My husband likes it served over plain egg noodles, but I prefer it by itself. -- posted by Chef #1249089

Potato Potato Pot Roast

No, I didn't stutter! Two ways of using potatoes in this recipe. Simple and tasty. Excellent recipe for not-so-expert cooks. When the meat is done, so is the gravy. The long slow cooking makes the meat very tender.
Easy Hearty Chili

This is a hearty chili without tomato chunks. If you prefer chucks of tomato in your chili use diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce. This is just enough for a lunch for my husband, our toddler, and myself, but if we need a bit more I'd go to the 22 oz size of tomato sauce and or beans. Do not leave out the salt since the little bit really brings out the other flavors. IF you making a large pot to have left overs leave out the salt since chili always gets saltier as it stores. I started with another chili recipe I found here, but we made several modifications so I am posting it as is. -- posted by Vyrianna

"Serve these burgers for the ultimate casual Labor Day BBQ.
Kamut Salsa Lettuce Wraps With Cojita Cheese Crumbles

Kamut is a type of wheat also known as Krorasan, that is powerfully nutritious - loaded with more protein, fiber many vitamins and antioxidants that "regular" wheat doesn't have. It can be found in natural food stores.
The recipe can be found here: http://lobsterandfishsticks.com/2009/06/10/kamut-salsa-lettuce-wraps-with-cojita-cheese-crumbles/
While the kamut makes this dish extra special and almost exotic, brown rice coul be substituted. -- posted by ChefMamaBlogger

Great Hamburger Patties

DH likes things pretty plain (as in only cheese and ketchup on his burger) so our patties have to have enough flavor to stand up (almost) on their own.
