Kinda Sorta Tex Mex Burger

I threw these together tonight when getting in the mood for ZWT5. When I think 'Texas' I often think of good BBQ and beef. When I think of Mexico I tend to think of a bit of heat and fresh tomatoes and avocado. So, I threw them together to make one yummy burger. So, it may not be real tex mex but it comes out of the ideas of Texas and Mexico that float around in my,admittedly odd, brain. -- posted by Sarah_Jayne

Pub Patties (Burgers) With Horseradish Sauce and Cress

Entered for safekeeping, From Every Day with Rachael Ray, June/July 2009. If only the Wimpy burger I tried long ago had been anything like this! This is very British with horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, and watercress (although the British prefer cress sprouts, which are tinier and have excellent flavor, but in the U.S. you'd be lucky to find watercress). Personally, I love the bite of horseradish with my beef. -- posted by KateL

Hawaii Da Kine Burgers W/ Sweet-Chili Glaze & Goat Cheese

Sutter Home's 2008 Build a Better Burger ® Winner!!!!
"Da kine" is a key phrase in Hawaiian Pidgin, the language of the "locals." It can mean almost anything, but commonly refers to something good or genuine, or as in this case, "the best."

This burger is as local as it gets, both in taste and ingredients. The patties are tender and juicy, thanks to fresh papaya and sweet onion, and are spiced with Hawaiian Portuguese sausage, which is so popular in Hawaii that it is on every breakfast menu (including McDonald’s). The accompanying salad employs heating oil to its smoking point, a local cooking method, resulting in a dynamite burger accompaniment. To complete the Hawaiian flavoring, I added a sweet glaze (Hawaiians love sweet and savory) and was inspired by our award-winning goat dairy to create a mouth-watering ginger-infused cheese spread. Ho, dat's da kine!

Use whatever cheese you like or happen to have at home - a creamy Havarti goes nice with it - as well as leftovers from a roast or steaks. -- posted by gemini08

Mick’s Juicy Tender Seasoned Hamburger

This recipe begins with a “panade” – a mixture of crumbled bread and milk – that keeps the beef moist and tender, even when well-done, by interfering with beef proteins that would otherwise link together and toughen the meat when cooked. This trick was explained on America’s Test Kitchen in the Season 8 Episode “Drive In Specials” and it works very well! -- posted by The_Mick

The Perfect Summer Hamburger Recipe

I had been using variations of hamburger recipes i found on here with no success until one day i made my hamburger meat in the same bowl as my olive oil and herb oven fries. The result was a hamburger so moist and delicious i have been using this recipe ever since. The simple ingredients bring out the flavor in the meat without overpowering it. The recipe uses fresh herbs which can always be substituted for dry if needed. -- posted by GreenEyedLS

Scottish Lorne Sausages: Square Breakfast Sausage!

Wherever you go in Scotland you will come across Scottish Lorne Sausage, which are square and sliced. Whether you be in a Hotel, a Guest House or a Bed and Breakfast, you will be offered a Scottish cooked breakfast, that will usually include the slices of this Scottish Lorne sausage. It is nearly always on a breakfast menu, along with bacon, egg, and "tattie" (potato) scones, and many Scots will eat it in a bread roll for lunch or maybe serve it with potatoes and vegetables for dinner. This is an easy recipe - and the sausage can be frozen in slices for ease and convenience. Prep time includes chilling time. What's in a name? It is thought that the Lorne sausage, which also goes by the names of square sausage, sliced sausage or sausage slice, was an invention of the Scottish comedian Tommy Lorne who lived from 1890 and died in 1935. He was born in Kirkintilloch near Glasgow. His birth name was Hugh Gallagher Corcoran. Tommy Lorne performed in many Scottish theatres and often performed in Glasgow and Edinburgh and was much in demand for pantomime. In his own acts he would apply white make-up and wear a short kilt, a glengarry, boots that were far too big for him and a jacket that was short. He spoke in an hilarious high pitched voice. It is thought that Lorne sausages were named after Tommy Lorne because of one of his famous catchphrase: "sausages are the boys" - he loved his sausages! He often ate a sausage sandwich between his acts. It has even been suggested that not only were Lorne sausages named after Tommy Lorne and to give people an easy to make sausage sandwich, but that Tommy Lorne was the inventor of the Lorne sausage. -- posted by French Tart

My take on a really great burger served at Sanford's Grub and Pub in Casper, WY. The blue cheese sauce I refer to is posted in my recipes. This burger recipe is easily adjustable to taste in hotness and the strength of the cheese sauce. A real key to this recipe is not over cooking the burgers because of the quality of the meat. Other burger toppings are optional, but please take a bite before adding them. You might find out they are not necessary. My family really enjoys this one.
This dish is easy to prepare and travels well -- perfect for everyday meals and autumn picnics. To save time purchase a rotisserie chicken from the deli to make this entire dish in less than 15 minutes. From Country Living.
My grandma made it for my mom, my mom made it for me and now I make it for my husband and son. It's the only way I know how to make it and it's the only kind I've ever tasted.
Fall-Off-The-Bone Short Ribs - Food Network

Man O Man, is this ever good, the coleslaw is awesome on this sandwich!
I add 3 cloves of minced garlic. I can see this meat over some pasta as well, so not just for a sandwich! I took another reviewer's advice on the Food Network site and turned my oven up to 400 degrees after the 90 minutes of cooking (on 375 degrees) and continued to cook the meat for an additional hour. Next time I would make double the ribs, so we have some leftovers. This is adapted from Food Network, Big Daddy's show. Hope you enjoy! -- posted by Scoutie

After making this recipe twice, I lost it. Because I thought I got it here I spent a lot of time searching zaar but could never find quite the right recipe. When I did finally find my original copy, it was from a different site! (I believe it was from cook.com but I have lost it again. Thank goodness I had already copied it elsewhere! lol) My family LOVES this recipe, my husband says this is the only bbq beef to make from now on. It is especially good topped with cole slaw but wonderful plain as well!

Dinner Stuffed Bread Buns

Whenever we get close to the end of a paycheck our meals become more cheap and oft times more original because we have to use whatever we have on hand. We made this up last night and I will certainly be making it a part of our regular menu. I served it with gravy and had steamed zucchini and yellow squash on the side.
The dough I chose was a harder, crusty type of bread. The type that keeps all the filling inside. I don't know how different kinds of dough will turn out with this. You can also use different fillings. I added corn to a couple of mine and it was delicious. I really want to try replacing the onion with lipton onion soup mix.
Note: I made 6 dumplings with mine but dough can easily make 8 -- posted by LutieLu

Little Tavern Shops Hamburgers

Little Tavern Shops is a now-defunct chain of hamburger restaurants in Baltimore, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. The slogan of the chain was "Buy 'em by the bag", and its signs promised "Cold drinks * Good Coffee". The stores were quite small and could accommodate only a few seated customers, while most business was take-out.

Great Hamburger Patties

I bet I have tried close to a hundred different variations of hamburgers. DH likes things pretty plain (as in only cheese and ketchup on his burger) so our patties have to have enough flavor to stand up (almost) on their own. I like that they've got good flavor but aren't too much to detract from the rest of the stuff on my burger (I happen to be the exact opposite of DH!). -- posted by Melanie2590
