Queen Puff's Lasagna

This is a simple lasagna recipe with great flavor. Just add a salad and garlic bread and you're all set. I used to fix this with just ground beef but tried it with the Italian sausage (sweet) and liked it even better. Or, you can just use the Italian sausage. Almost as good with fat-free ingredients so give it a try too. It's good either way. If there is any left, you can freeze individual squares for the perfect quick lunch another day. -- posted by Queen Puff

American Goulash

Growing up in Boston, I never knew that this 50's "once-a-week-at-home dinner" and "once-a-week-at-school lunch" was a regional dish! I still make this probably once every 2 weeks. Easy, cheap and comfort food all rolled into one huge pot!
Recipe to try found in a pasta recipe book. It was ok, Next time we might a can of manwich instead of the dry envelope.

*Note* No matter what way I type it out, Zaar consistently adds Manwich in front of Sloppy Joe Seasoning, this recipe calls for a DRY seasoning envelope, don't think Manwich makes those. -- posted by ~*Kisha*~

Family Favorite Beef Goulash (No Tomato)

Three-Cheese Jumbo Shells

This is a Taste of Home recipe that I found in their ground beef cookbook. I love that it features a super simple tomato-beef sauce. I hate the taste of commercially prepared spaghetti sauce. It is simple enough to throw together during the week, and special enough to be featured as part of a holiday meal or for guests. I haven't tried it yet but I would imagine this would be a good recipe to make ahead and then freeze, or refrigerate overnight and bake after it is thawed if you are short on time. -- posted by Megan V

Cincinnati Chili

Felix's Lasagna

I started with a recipe a friend gave me ages ago and adapted it to what I had and what I felt like eating. You could add some onions or garlic to the meat mixture if you felt like it, or use something other than mushrooms (or leave out that part entirely) if you don't want them. Whatever flavour or brand of spaghetti sauce is your favourite will work, as long as it's not one of the ones with meat. Excellent served with garlic or other crusty bread and a green salad. What I'm calling prep time is stove-top cooking time, and cooking time is time in the oven plus sitting time. -- posted by Felix4067

My Standard Lasagna

This is my basic easy lasagna. I either use homemade sauce or a really good quality store bought brand. There are four types of cheese in this recipe. If you like things spicy, by all means add a bit of crushed red pepper to the sauce or use spicy sausage. If I am adding sausage, I prefer to use mild turkey sausage in this, but it tastes really good with just ground beef too. -- posted by HeatherFeather

Baked Spaghetti

From Taste of Home Aug/Sept 2006. "This is a wonderful casserole for a potluck. Whenever I make it, people enjoy it, especially the men." Made for dinner tonight. It is delicious. I think the rosemary should be decreased because it is a little overpowering for my taste. And as always, you can always use more cheese if ya want! I don't believe this would freeze well, but if you try, let me know how it turns out! -- posted by Chef Skie

Cheesy Party Pasta

A great dish to make if you are having lots of company or to take to a potluck. Add whatever you think you would like. I have made this in a large chafing dish and served it at a birthday party. You can also make this in a large foil or hotel tray. OR scale it down to have just with your family. I always use low fat ingredients, but this works with full fat products as well. Serve with crusty rolls and salad.
My mom made this for us when we were growing up and it is one of my all-time favorite recipes. I usually make it with left-over steak or pork roast, but I recently made it with two raw sirloin steaks thinly sliced and it was amazing! My husband and I can eat one recipe in a sitting, but we have big appetites (I'm still nursing!), so you might want to double the recipe if you have a family of big eaters.
This recipe might sound a little strange and lengthy but trust me it is out of this world. I had used the left over meat from loose meat burgers we made the night before. In the loose meat burgers there was some strange ingredients such as vinegar, mustard and sugar. Everyone including my italian mother and grandmother thought this sauce was spectacular. I thought it must have something to do with the extra ingredients from the loose meat burgers. This recipe is definately original!
Marinara Sauce

This is a really great sratch recipe for spagetti or pizza sauce to make ahead of time I put it in the crock pot on low to simmer. If you look at the label of most spagetti sauce you buy in a store the second or third ingredient is corn syrup. After this we don't ever buy red sauce. I make this in large batches frequently and it freezes very well. -- posted by victoriansweets_cakencandy

Spaghetti Sauce

Again a recipe I grew up with. It is the only spaghetti my hubby will touch and works well as the sauce in lasagna.
A Better Marzetti

Had never heard of Johnny Marzetti until recently stumbling on his recipe in some newspaper website. Actually, research shows Marzetti's Restaurant in Columbus, Ohio was the source of this great comfort food dish back in the 20's (..is it still there?). Have seen ingredients of several versions of this dish here, but none with all these great ingredients. This is an ultimate comfort food that is even better at the second and third sitting. I think that the sausage and Italian cheese blend is key to success of this rendition. Dish is great with a nice green salad. -- posted by ebbtide

Cincinnati Style Chili

I have always loved Skyline Chili. I'm not from Cincinnati, but have been there. This is a combination of recipes I used to make one that has worked for me. I made it for the big superbowl party my family has every year. They loved it! I've never made it from scratch before because I didn't know what all was in the sauce. I had always used sauce packets from the grocery store. When the store was out, I had to come up with another solution. I love to cook and experiment. So...this is what I came up with.
