Nana's Brisket

This is my grandmother's brisket recipe and the sauce is especially good on kasha varnishkes. I like making it in a crockpot, but my mother still makes it on the stovetop or in the oven, which are both good options. If you can't find Washington's Rich Brown Seasoning (try online), beef bouillon powder can be substituted (but it won't be as good!) The sauce is thin, and I've tried thickening it before, but it isn't as good. -- posted by Shana C

Crock Pot Beef Stew With Roasted Vegetables

I don't really like beef stew. I know, weird, huh? I like it more than pot roast but even as a little kid I was never terribly fond of beef stew. I think it's a long cooked beef thing. But last week I wanted to invite friends over for dinner and only a weeknight could work. That meant crock pot (we had a party to go to that evening so time was too short for much cooking at all), but I needed a relatively failsafe recipe. I was entertaining guests after all. Well, crock pots are great for things like stew. So I got out all my recipe books and got on my googling hat... and came up with this. Beef stew to awe those who don't like beef stew :) -- posted by Alyss05

Debbie's Famous Italian Beef

This recipe is highly recommended! It's an excellent copycat of Portillo's Italian Beefs. Two important notes - do NOT substitute the Knorr Chicken Bouillon with another brand - you will not get the same results. And Yes, you want CHICKEN flavor. (Please note that the Italian Salad Dressing Mix package is .7 ounce, but this size wasn't recognized when I submitted the recipe; I'm sure it would turn out fine if the package is a little more or a little less.) Serve with Italian Rolls or French Bread and additional hot peppers for those who like spicer Italian Beefs. I prefer to use Hot Giardiniera Relish instead of hot peppers, but this wasn't recognized in RecipeZaar. The nutritional information doesn't include the rolls. -- posted by More Sunshine

This is a versatile and easy dish that can be served over rice, with taco shells or tortilla chips for a family or potluck dinner. You can use a crockpot and even start with a frozen roast.
For a special occasion, serve with all the garnishes that accompany tacos, such as diced green or white onions, guacamole, pico de gallo, salsa and sour cream,
You can spice this up by using a can of tomatoes and green chilis or add 2 tablespoons of diced green chilis. You can use chili, kidney or red beans. -- posted by Mamaya

It saves me the time of having to cube the meat myself and that way i get to pick out the best cut of meat. Also, if you like spicy, leave the seeds in one or two of the jalapenos. -- posted by Melanie2590

Slow-Cooked Korean Beef

This is based on a recipe I saw in Chatelaine magazine. It is hands-down the best slow cooker recipe EVER! It's great served over mashed potatoes, but my favourite way to serve it is in kaiser buns, with the yummy shredded beef piled high on top. I put out toppings like arugula or lettuce, horseradish, mayonnaise, and sliced dill pickles, and let people fix their own bun the way they like it. Make sure to drizzle some of the wonderful sauce on each bun too, and also some of the onions too. Sooooo good! -- posted by JacquelynLee

Family Favorite Crock Pot Pot Roast

My picky kids love this recipe..its so easy and its a fix it forget it meal. It's cheap and inexpensive way to feed your family. Takes just a few minutes to put together and in a few hours you have a wonderful supper. You don't need to use a full 5lb pot roast but we love left overs, we make sandwiches out of the leftovers and I don't add the potatoes I cook those on the side, they tend to get a little overdone for what my family likes. I also don't add carrots or celery I use the ziploc steam bags for my veggies and that way I don't have to stick with same veggies, I can mix it up. -- posted by momnkids

A crockpot recipe that turns the most economical roast of beef into a tender, succulent, delicious meal. The wine really enhances the flavor of the meat, and n/a wine can also be used to great success for those who prefer it.
French Onion Beef Au Jus

This is a fabulous recipe for an open faced French Onion Beef Au Jus sandwich. This is truly a knife-and-fork sandwich. I have made this countless times, and have no idea where I got the original recipe, or why I have never posted it here. It can be made in the oven, or crockpot. I have made it both ways, depending on how much time I have, and really notice no difference. One little tip I can share, is when you are toasting your bread in the oven, slice a small sliver off the bottom (round side) of the bread to make a flatter surface, that way when you pile on the beef, onion, and cheese the sandwich won't tip over when you put it back in the oven to melt the cheese. (it keeps it from being top-heavy). -- posted by blueguitargirl1985

Sarasota's Crock Pot Brisket With Lots of "veggies"

I love this recipes because you add lots of sweet potatoes, parsnips, crimini mushrooms, onions, white potatoes, and some turnips which I love. But you have the option to use whatever you enjoy

This slow cooks and the sweetness of the brown sugar and maple syrup make this a perfect flavor for this brisket.

I like to rub the marinade over the brisket and let it work overnight, then in the morning, add the sauce and add the cut vegetables to the sides of the brisket and turn on low for 10-12 hours. If you need it done quicker 7-8 on high heat. Either way it cooks and will fall apart.

Serve this with a fall salad with walnuts, bleu cheese, and a nice honey vinaigrette. Very traditional, but I love it with fall roasts and of course some good crusty bread. -- posted by SarasotaCook

Vinyl Lager Crock Roast

I bought a six pack of Magic Hat's spring seasonal (Vinyl), and loved it so much I wanted to cook with it. Since I normally use deep, dark beers (like Guinness) to cook, and usually only for beef or vegetable stew, this was a bit of an experiment. All day, my apartment smelled AMAZING. Since I had to buy a three pound roast (the grocery store seems to only have VERY large roasts), and I'm only cooking for two people, this made a LOT of leftovers.
I don't usually measure anything, so I'm guessing on a lot of this. Adjust everything to your taste. As for the veggies, I used two small white potatoes, 1/4 of a large vidalia onion, and about 1/2 cup of sliced carrots. Use what you like! The blend of spices is my usual go-to blend, again... use what you like.
