Lotion for Dry Skin

I work in an office with 5 doctors and as you know, doctors are always washing their hands which makes them dry. We make this lotion for them and they LOVE IT!!
**UPDATE 3/31/09: I use 4 oz. of Vaseline petroleum jelly, it would not let me enter it on the ingredients part and for the Vitamin E, you can use lotion or cream, whatever you like or can find. I also tried the NEW cucumber melon baby lotion....AWESOME!!, husband and son liked it but I still like the regular pink the best. I ONLY use J&J baby lotion because it seems to work the best. Thanks to everyone who has given me reviews.... -- posted by babygirl65

Skin Toning Grapefruit Massage

Adapted from a recipe from First magazine. According to Jilian Alexander-Gregory, author of The Spa Gardens, when grapefruit oil is massaged into the skin, a compound called D-limonene stimultes the lymphatic system to flush excess fluid and toxins from bodily tissues for effortless slimming.
This is an easy, (mostly) painless way to get rid of anything sharp stuck into the top layers of your skin. My grandmother used it on my entire body when I fell in a cactus wearing a bikini! I probably don't have to say this but please don't eat this. I would not suggest this if you are very hairy or if you have open wounds. -- posted by Chef Chessie

White Dragon Milk Bath

This is the bath milk formula I created when I was running a toiletry business years ago. This has all the good stuff that is needed for damaged, dry, or sensitive skin. Water is deadly to my skin and strips all the oils off my body, so I have learned that if I want good, healthy skin, I need to replenish with something every time I have a bath. It does make for a messy bath, but it is so worth it -- posted by Abby Girl

Sensational Strawberry Cleanser

This is one mouth-watering, totally delicious, and couldn’t-be-easier skin treatment. Honey–known for centuries as a natural humectant–combined with cream nourishes tired skin and keeps it supple and moist, while the salicylic acid in strawberries cleanses by removing impurities and dead cells. Strawberries also clear up acne and oiliness, and make skin younger and smoother. You will emerge from this quick to make mask with fresher, happier skin. Heavenly!

Variations: Use yogurt with live and active cultures instead of the cream to balance the pH of the skin. You can also use raspberries instead of strawberries. This yogurt/raspberry combination is suitable for sensitive skin, and is less likely to cause minor irritation for anyone allergic to strawberries. -- posted by Tropical Beauty

Didn't you say "nothing"?
When you were asked what you wanted for your
Birthday, Anniversary, Graduation or Christmas.
Don't you remember saying NOTHING?
Well this time someone heard you & searched
high and low to find this perfect gift for you.

This will last several weeks, but it is not enough to last that long after you decide you love it. I love this recipe as it makes my face very soft and the fine lines are going away. After learning about beauty recipes and what each ingredient does, it is easy to create your own recipes as I have done here.
Lavender Bath Salts

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz........... Epsom and sea salts help soothe tired muscles and the combination softens the water for a relaxing experience. Add 1 tablespoon of finely ground regular (not quick) oatmeal for even more skin softening. You can adjust the ingredients to suit your preferences... they're quite forgiving. -- posted by Sandi (From CA)

Rose Water Facial Mist

Use this anytime you need to rehydrate your skin. In the summertime I keep a bottle of this mist chilled in the refrigerator. Much less expensive than the HomeHealth brand I've been buying at the natural food stores all these years. Rose water can be found in Middle Eastern/Indian markets, specialty/gourmet/natural food stores and online (the brand I use is Cortas from Lebanon). It is not expensive and a little goes a long way. -- posted by Cookgirl

Cocoa Butter Antibacterial Moisturizing Lotion

I think I got this off of Delicious Living, but not sure. I'm not sure why it says "antibacterial" but this can be used on face or body, I'm sure. Probably too oily for oily skin, though. It says, "Cocoa butter is naturally water repellent and thus protective of the skin; it is especially useful for dehydrated skin." I made a modified version of this with shea butter, which I will also post. -- posted by WI Cheesehead

Soft and Silky Facial Moisturizer

From Delicious Living. Glycerin attracts moisture; that's whay makes it such a great moisturizer - it brings in moisture from the air to the skin - so it can actually increase the moisture in the skin by adding water from the air. This is great for oily skin. It soaks in pretty quickly and feels cool. -- posted by WI Cheesehead

Shea Butter Moisturizing Lotion

I took another recipe that I posted and modified it to use shea butter. Shea butter is so good for dry skin, as is aloe vera gel. This is great on lips and dry hands. Although the original recipe was meant for face, I have oily skin, so it would be too much. I will be putting this on my hands overnight with gloves. The peppermint oil is antibacterial and helps cover up the smell of the raw shea butter. -- posted by WI Cheesehead

Homemade Fragrance

In order to make this all-natural fragrance, you must use a CARRIER OIL, that is, an oil that has no fragrance of its own. Great options are as follows: sweet almond, grape seed, avocado, sesame, sunflower, jojoba, walnut, peanut, and pecan. Use whichever essential oils you like, but I would not recommend fragrance oils since they have a lot of alcohol and chemicals in them. Lavender, vanilla, clove, orange, and lemon essential oils are just some suggestions. -- posted by Llamatron
