Bacon Cheddar Stuffed Burgers

The original recipe is from the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board but has been altered some. Other stuffing suggestions are salsa and pepper jack, blue cheese and sauteed red onion, mushroom and swiss (yum!), feta and olives, or smoked provolone and roasted red peppers. -- posted by Kaarin

The Whistle Stop Cafe's Blfgt Sammy/Sandwiches

BLFGT: Bacon, Lettuce, Fried Green Tomato
Yes, there really is a Whistle Stop Cafe from the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes". It is pretty much like the movie portrays it, a Southern cafe with really authentic fare, and some of the best fried green tomatoes ever. I came across this when looking for fried green tomato recipes without much cornmeal. It sparked my interest, so I thought I'd share it with my Zaar friends. Looks like a lot of work, but well worth the time. -- posted by Redneck Epicurean

These came about when DBF and I were camping and we were cleaning out the coolers! We had leftover BBQ's chicken and a few pieces of bacon from breakfast. Try them on the grill as they are not nearly as good done in a pan on the stove.
Brunch B T on English Muffins

So simple, it's almost not a recipe. I've been having this for either breakfast or lunch most of this week because I've just got a craving that won't stop. Miracle Whip is one of my guilty pleasures but I suppose those who don't care for it could use mayo. I had onion the first day so added the slices, but after that I've gone without and it's still hit the spot for me. I used fresh, incredibly sweet tomatoes bought from Gorenson's farm at the Bath Farmer's Market. I think chives or cilantro probably would work in place of the basil (I did try mint and that doesn't quite fit). -- posted by echo echo

Southern Belle Croque Madame

French fare with a Southern accent! I came up with this after seeing a version of the sandwich made by Rachel Ray. A traditional southern breakfast (bacon, eggs, grits) is one of my favorite meals - anytime of day. I figured, why not assemble it in a whole new way?

Made with sliced/fried polenta (instead of bread), and apple-wood smoked bacon (in lieu of ham). Creamy, cheesy, w/bacon & white gravy - I mean, a bechamel sauce - to boot!

(Note: if you want larger "sandwiches", slice the polenta lengthwise instead of into rounds.) -- posted by Kathi Ann

The Great British Bacon Butty - Bacon Sandwich

The news is out - scientists at my old university, (Leeds University in West Yorkshire) have discovered the PERFECT way to make a "Bacon Butty", that quintessential British sandwich, and they have devised a mathematical formula for it!! The bacon butty is one of my FAVOURITE sandwiches of all times.......especially when doused in HP Sauce or Worcestershire Sauce! Here is my method - it's hardly a recipe, more of an idea and an assembly job! I have posted their mathematical formula at the end of the recipe - my formula is: Eat your bacon butty whilst it’s still hot and crispy!! Please increase the quantities as needed. I like to use smoked bacon, but any good quality dry cure bacon will be fine. -- posted by French Tart

Bacon and Hummus Baguette Sandwiches

I found this in the UK cooking magazine called Olive but I have been making a variation of this on my own for a while now. I love hummus and wondered how it would go with bacon and I ended up being pleased with the results. I have also done this with turkey bacon when I wanted to drop the calories and fat a bit.
Meat Loaf Club Sandwiches

Chef David Burke bakes a simple ground-beef mixture in the oven, setting it between slices of bread to soak up all of the savory meat drippings. Then he slathers each sandwich with a supersimple chipotle-mayonnaise sauce. Recipe by David Burke, from "Chef Recipes Made Easy," F&W Magazine, July 2006 edition. A staff favorite and fast, can be made in less then 45 minutes. Serve with a rich, velvety & ripe, fruity Merlot: 2004 Red Truck. -- posted by Manami

Bacon Blue Cheese Burgers

Very moist and cheesy burgers! Perfect for your cookout or anytime. These were featured on the local news for tailgating recipes for the Packers at Lambeau Field. I usually use kaiser rolls for the buns, as these are nice and juicy.
Fried Green Tomato BLT (Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato Sandwich)

A terrific Southern twist on the classic BLT. The tang and crunch of the fried green tomato gives a wonderful balance to the bacon, lettuce, and mayo. For a crowd, increase the ingredients and put out the cooked bacon, lettuce leaves, and fried green tomatoes separately... and, let everyone build their own sandwiches.
Bacon and Bagels (Low Fat)

This is a VERY easy breakfast that I paired down the calories count. I love making it because it's easy to clean up and prepare. I haven't had them in years, but I'm always looking for something new to do to so my girlfriend won't get bored with the standard favorites. (Also great for breakfast in bed...). You can certainly disregard the "Lower-Cal" style and go with Regular Bacon, Regular Cream Cheese and Regular Bagels.
Barbecued Shrimp BLT Sandwich With Lemon Butter Sauce

This is a Wolfgang Puck recipe and it is delicious! I found it again when I was surfing the net - as always, looking for something else, and voila I found it! I had eaten this a long time ago when a friend prepared it for us, my friend left for somewhere in Cuba -- never to be heard of again, more than likely she is very busy trying to build a house for her folks wheeling and dealing, so as to get what she needs -- she doesn't have time to write and then find someone that she trusts to deliver the letter to me! Anyway -- the recipe is truly wonderful! :) Wine pairing: If you're feeling adventurous try a full and oakey Chardonnay from Australia like Rosemount, Petaluma or Lindemans. This dish goes great with a number of the micro brews, such as Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada or the most popular Samuel Adams. -- posted by Manami
