			<description>My adaptation of Huey's Weiner Schnitzel with a Proper Potato Salad.  It is the homemade mayonnaise that makes this potato salad particularly delicious - or as Huey described it &amp;quot;proper&amp;quot; - and making it in a food processor couldn't be easier, although it could, of course, also be made by hand. Huey opts for vegetable oil here rather than olive oil as he insists that it can more effectively be flavoured with other ingredients such as herbs and garlic.  The bacon he panfries in olive oil and then adds to the hot potatoes which readily absorb the bacon juices.  The leftover eggwash he suggests saving and later adding to some extra eggs to make scrambled eggs.  To avoid getting lumps in the breadcrumbs, he suggests using one hand for dipping each schnitzel in the flour and egg and the other hand for dipping the floured, egged schnitzel into the breadcrumbs. We then made the dressing with shrimp and seafood sauce with horseradish instead of the ketchup. Thay are really fantastic! This has many ingredients--but many are spices!  Overall, this is pretty easy to make, and a good portion of the cooking time is just letting the stew simmer.

			<description>I invented these extreme variations of Quiche Lorraine at the end of ZWT5 based on Karen Elizabeth's Recipe #299242 #299242, taking advantage of the unique ingredients I had bought over the tour.  Each variation I tried and pictured was great in its own way.  Next time, if I had piperade sauce on hand (Julie B's Hive's Recipe #233205 #233205), I might add that on a wedge.  The measurements for toppings are for 1 choice of topping to cover the entire quiche.  Choose 1,2,3,4, or 5 toppings, and make a decorative pattern, allowing small wedges to be cut of this rich quiche.  If available, Pillsbury's refrigerated pie crust works well (do not prick or pre-bake) in a glass deep-dish pie plate.  I recommend very small wedges (12 servings), this is very rich. If you don't have the stock called for in the recipe, just use water from the pasta pot.

As for preperation of the bacon, you can choose to cook it in the stock pot, leaving behind as much fat as possible for flavour, and add back after cooking of the rest of the soup, or do as I've suggested with the microwave. With a golden layer of puff pastry topped by caramelized onions, soft potatoes, bacon and tangy Reblochon cheese, this tart is lighter than the sum of its parts, making for a satisfying fall dish thats great any time of day. The Reblochon, a washed-rind cheese from France, can be replaced with a robust Taleggio from northern Italy or the smooth French soft-ripened cows-milk cheese Saint-Andre. Wine suggestions: the earthy, berry-rich flavors of Pinot Noirs from Californias Santa Lucia Highlands work well as partners for washed-rind cheeses like the Reblochon in this tart. 			<description>Wonderful for a weekend brunch. My whole family absolutely loves it. Lots of flavor from the onions, chives, and bell pepper. There are lots of variations of this recipe but I like that this one uses milk instead of sour cream or cream cheese which are high in fat and this one still has just as much flavor. It came from Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove Cookbook that a friend got me for Christmas. I only switch the whole milk to 1 % and keep the skillet at medium-low instead of low when making the sauce. Can easily be doubled to serve more people. When I do, I use a 12 oz package of bacon and a 1 lb 14 oz bag of hash browns since that's what they usually come in anyways. Also, the easiest way to snip the chives is with kitchen scissors. So much faster than with a knife! I made this with left over Christmas turkey this year, and it was so delicious and went down a bomb with my family and friends! A new Jamie Oliver recipe that he showed on his Family Christmas show this year and one that is so clever, as this pie makes its own gravy! I have left out adding the chestnuts and sage to the pastry as he suggests, I will try it sometime in the future though, as it sounds a brilliant idea; I have added this option at the end of the recipe however, for those who want to try it that way. Serve this with mashed potatoes and the extra gravy in a gravy boat on the side. Here is what Jamie says about this pie: &amp;quot;This is dead simple, completely versatile and absolutely gorgeous. Its not a pretty-boy pie; its a proper, old-school pie that everyone will be over the moon to see on the table.
