Sesame-Soy Salmon

This is from Glorious One Pot Meals and I found it in the Sun-Sentinel. It says: If you have room in your Dutch oven, try adding a handful of snow peas and sliced shitake mushrooms after the cabbage to round out this Asian inspired meal. The water used for the rice will be completely absorbed during cooking and in the process the fish will poach and become a treat to eat. If your rice is older and dry, or your climate is very dry, add an extra 2 tbsp. water or broth. The author dissolves 1/4 tsp. bouillon or mushroom soup starter in the water first, then adds it to the rice. This recipe serves 2. -- posted by Oolala

Asian-Style Salmon or Tofu

Came from my nutritionist. When you're running really short on time, you can substitute the from-scratch sauce with your favorite Asian dressing (just check the ingredients to make sure there's no high fructose corn syrup!). You can substitute the salmon fillets for firm tofu. If you do that, make sure you marinate the tofu in the dressing for about 2 hours. -- posted by MarissaB

Salmon and Snow Pea Stir Fry

You wouldn't expect to find salmon in a stir-fry. But when you're tired of the same old chicken or shrimp, try this high-protein, heart-healthy entree from Oxygen Magazine. The salmon really soaks up a nice orange flavor; pineapple or another juice might be tasty too! -- posted by ~Jen~

Slammin Salmon

This recipe was something I saw on Iron Chef but I have modified it to fit my taste. It is a fantastic mixture of textures. The crust is primarily made up of Panko,a Japanese breadcrumb that I am really amazed by. You can find it in pretty much any grocery store. The marinade for the fish is something I discovered when I lived in Santa Cruz, CA. It’s called Soy Vay and is now available in any grocery store. It is a ginger, sesame, soy, garlic mixture and it is FULL of flavor. -- posted by Aimchick

Salmon Sandwiches With Japanese Flavors

Most canned salmon is wild, making it a sustainable and convenient choice. The Japanese flavors in the spread are the perfect foil for meaty salmon. I like finding recipes that use canned salmon. I made this and it only took me 15 minutes and I loved it! EatingWell, June 2007. I used 7 grain bread because that is what we had, also -- I didn't use radish sprouts. -- posted by Manami

Yet another one from Dave Liberman's Young and Hungry. I have not tried this. Dave says it is has the flavors of sushi but is easy to prepare at home. He suggests leaving the sandwiches open faced to show off the ingredients and not overwhelm things with the taste of bread.
Sweet Sambal Salmon Fillets

There are many hot chile pepper pastes used as table condiments in China and Southeast Asia; I used sambal oelek which is the most common and most popular. Containing chiles, salt, vinegar and sometimes garlic and tamarind, the fiery paste gives food a powerful flavor boost giving this Salmon recipe an Asian flair.
Chinese-Style Flavorful Salmon

DH and I really enjoyed this different way of preparing salmon. From Keiko O Aoki's "Easy and Healthy Japanese Food for the American Kitchen." It should be noted that DH and I skinned the salmon filets and it turned out great, but I am posting the recipe as it appears in the book. Also, make sure to use low sodium soy sauce. Even with this, I found the dish to be a little salty and might skip the teaspoon of salt next time to see how it turns out. -- posted by Dr. Jenny

Marinated Seafood Skewers With a Dipping Sauce

Another experiment and I think another success, to me this was a wonderful combination of flavours and the fish was gorgeous. I used Tuna, Salmon and Prawns but feel free to experiment with other fish, just remember you need quite thick fish for skewers. I served mine over stir-fry vegetables which not only went really well but made for a very yummy, healthy, light dinner enjoyed by us all. The ingredients listed below was enough to make 6 skewers I allowed for 2 per person so if you have bigger eaters you will have to adjust amounts to make more. The marinade will be plenty even if you buy more seafood. -- posted by The Flying Chef

The Best Salmon Marinade

Fabulous Family favorite!!! Super easy and lots of flavor! Made many times and never had negative results. If there are any leftovers this salmon makes a wonderful salad topper for lunch or a salmon salad sandwich. When cooking on the cedar plank or adding liquid smoke, it takes the salmon to a whole new level of flavor. Awesome... best of all this is pretty much idiot proof! Try serving with recipe#318889 or recipe#297906 for a great tasty feast. -- posted by CHILI SPICE

Prawn and Salmon Stir Fry With Lemon Grass and Mint

I have really been enjoying stir fry's lately, they really are great and are so easy to do without a lot of fuss. You can have a fantastic tasting meal on the table in about 30 Min's that is not only healthy but tastes wonderful and because your not slaving over the stove for hours, you get to sit down and enjoy your meal. This is one I made the other night as I fancied some fish. I have been cooking a lot of chicken lately, as with all the food price hikes, it is just too expensive to eat all the variety I used to cook and I fancied a change. It was definitely worth it I really enjoyed this one as did my hubby. -- posted by The Flying Chef

I was out of honey but still wanted to make salmon teriyaki one night, so I improvised with maple syrup. The recipe turned out to be a success.
Eli's Asian Salmon

This recipe came from Keith Eldridge, who is the executive chef for Eli Zabar at Eli's Manhattan, The Vinegar Factory, and E.A.T., all in New York City. They shared the recipe with Ina Garten(Barefoot Contessa), she shared it in her cookbook"Bardfoot Contessa at Home", and now I'm sharing it with you! So good hot, and at room temp too. Ina says Keith uses focaccia crumbs, made in a food procssor, but Panko makes a good substitute. Enjoy!
Teriyaki Rice Paper Salmon (Baked)

This dish is wonderfully light and simple, but vibrant and bursting with flavour at the same time. The rice paper wrapper absorbs the flavour, whilst sealing in moisture for an impressive and attractive meal. The flavour is not at all overly salmony...even my little sister likes it. It is great served with stir-fried veggies or fennel bulb, and I suspect it would taste delicious with rice or potatoes for a more substantial meal.
Easy Peasy Red Thai Salmon Curry

Knocked this up for a dinner party last night, as a mild dish. Tasty and quick!
This will vary tremendously depending on the curry paste you are using. Taste it first. If it's super-hot, you'll need to reduce the amount unless you want a hot curry. If this is the case, you may need to add in come more flavouring. I've tried successfully with a tin of red thai curry soup if you're going for the easy approach, otherwise add grated ginger, cumin, coriander and a splash of fish sauce and rice wine vinegar.
Of course, there's plenty of more complicated recipes out there, and this one's supposed to be easy, so try to go for a curry paste that's tasty but mild. You can always add more chilies to boost the heat! -- posted by Snowbunny Andorra
