Amish Rhubarb Pie

This rhubarb pie is simple, but good. I love the crumb topping on it. For a slight change, try Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie. The crumb topping may be replaced with a full or lattice crust. -- posted by Miss Annie

Amish Apple Cake With Hot Caramel Sauce

This is one of our favorite cake recipes, originally published in Cooking from Quilt Country by Marcia Adams. I modified the caramel sauce a bit and increased the amount of the sauce since it is so wonderful! The cake keeps well and can be reheated briefly in the microwave. Extra caramel sauce is divine over ice cream! -- posted by miss gracie

Mennonite Stew

This came from a Mennonite recipe book that I puchased at a harvest fair. I vary it from time to time by adding wine or beer to the simmering pot. This stew really tastes great on cold blustery days. -- posted by Paul Elliott

Absolutely the Best Amish Beef Stew

This is just what its name implies...the absolute best beef stew ever. It is wonderful in the colder weather and really warms you up. I got the basic recipe from an old Amish cookbook and tweeked it a bit. My family loves it with home baked bread, so I always make Amish White Bread, recipe #26526 to go along with it. -- posted by Karen=^..^=

Roll Kuchen (From the Mennonite Treasury of Recipes)

Oh, the memories of this recipe! This is a favourite Mennonite Tradition for a summer meal. This is my mom's favourite recipe for Roll Kuchen. I remember fondly the time my parent's spent making this and how they doubled and tripled the recipe for family gatherings. To non-Mennonites the idea of having these with watermelon strikes them as very strange--Watermelon and doughnuts??!!?? But for me and my family it is a food that we enjoy and look forward to having! Cook time is per batch of 4-6 roll kuchen. -- posted by * Pamela *

Dried Beef Casserole

Here's some good, down-home Pennsylvania Dutch cooking for you--dried beef is very popular here. This recipe proves there's more that you can make with it besides 'S.O.S.!'
Butternut Harvest Stew

I got this recipe from a cookbook that's new out this year called "Simply in Season". Instead of pork I used one cup of TVP (texturized vegetable protein, which is cheaper than meat), although I would recommend using skewer-sized chunks and not the broken up variety that I got. -- posted by Valeria

Summer Squash Bake

This was a big hit at a family potluck. It makes enough for everybody and has a rich creamy flavor. I was a little cautious at first because the fresh oregano tasted so strong, but after baking the flavors all blended perfectly. Still, if you like oregano even less than I do try using basil or thyme. If I know I'll be making it ahead of time, I prepare the dish up to the last step the night before and refrigerate it until I'm ready to bake it. Give it an extra 20 to 30 minutes in the oven if you do this. -- posted by Valeria

Wayne's Mennonite Noodle Soup

This is the soup that my husband grew up on. He comes from a Mennonite Family in Manitoba, and they just call it simply "Noodle Soup" but I would call it chicken noodle soup. Also cooked by the Pennsylvania Dutch ;)
This will be unlike any other Chicken Noodle you have had. There are healing qualities in the cinnamon and anise, a great elixer for colds/flu.
I love it, hope you do too! -- posted by ~Leslie~
