			<title>Steel Cut Oatmeal Scones</title>

			<description>Very slightly sweet, quite healthy compared to your average scone. If you want this sweet add another 1/2 cup sugar or splenda!! Great for on the go. This is also great if you add a cup of dried fruit such as blueberries, cherries or currants at the end. Be careful not to overmix and remember, these are not meant to be sweet. 
Caution this is a fairly moist dough, just use quite a bit of flour to avoid sticking.

			<description>Adapted from the Be-Ro home recipes book. As an english person I actually have no idea why scones are considered so British. But these are great with tea, a good breakfast food and look very pretty. You can use a variety of fruit fillings (my favourite is glace cherrys), to be honest I think any dried fruit will work as long as it's chopped to a good size (think around the size of a sultana). Also the recipe calls for 8oz self raising flour but when I made these this morning I used 4oz self raising, 4oz plain and 1 teaspoon baking powder and that worked wonderfully. The salt is optional, you can use margarine or butter and caster sugar is white granulated basically. Handle lightly for best results. 			<description>I got this recipe from the KAF web site.  After trying many scone recipes (including pre-bought mixes) - DH and I agree - this is the BEST recipe.  It also has the least amount of butter than any of the others I've made. I also made mine with 2% milk.  The first batch I made with 3/4 C dried cherries + 3/4 C white chocolate.  Next time I'm going to try 1 C dried blueberries + juice of 1 lemon plus zest of one lemon.  YUUUMY! 			<description>This recipe started as a Lemon Glazed Scone recipe I found in a locally published recipe book, you know the kind sold as a money raiser with personal recipes from community members. Over the years I have adapted it many times. It has become the basic formula I use to make scones for tea with friends, family gatherings or on those mornings when I wake up and find we are out of bread and cereal. I add whatever I have in the cupboard or fridge. It has never let me down.

			<title>Singin' Hinnies - Northumbrian Tea-Time Griddle Cakes/Scones</title>

			<description>Served warm and oozing with butter, these fabulous fruity griddlecakes make a great treat for breakfast or afternoon tea. I remember my grandmother making these when I was little; she lived in a very old stone cottage in Northumberland, and made these on a huge cast iron black griddle, or girdle as they were also called! We used to eat them hot from the griddle, with butter  in front of a roaring wood fire during the winter months. Singin' hinnies are a type of fried fruit scone or griddle cake, so called as they 'sing' and sizzle whilst cooking. 'Hinny' is a Northern term for endearment used especially to children - my grandmother used to call me &amp;quot;hinny&amp;quot;. Similar to singin' hinnies are Northumbrian griddle cakes, also known as Gosforth gridies.

This is just one of their delicious recipes that I know I will be making for years! We had the cranberry scones, so I would substitute cranberries for the raisins in this recipe. The scones were also served with a delicious orange butter. This recipe results in a soft, not-too-sweet scone that absolutely melts in your mouth.

I have made these twice now and love the combination of the honey butter with the scones, although they are also delicious with plain unsalted butter. This recipe came from an Australian &amp;quot;Olive&amp;quot; magazine that was sent to me, apparently, Queensland is famous for its blue pumpkins where this recipe originates from - I added the spices as well as the honey butter! A wonderful recipe for the cooler months, but as it uses tinned or frozen pumpkin, these can be made all year around. If you don't want to serve these with the honey butter, just split them whilst warm and spread with normal butter or cream. 			<description>Deliciously moist and light, these beautiful jewel-toned scones have bright colored bits of candied papaya &amp;amp; pineapple, scattered throughout to add a burst of color and sweetness, that perfectly compliments the coconut. 
The inspiration for this recipe was Stacy Garwood's winning recipe in Food Network Magazine's Secret Ingredient contest. I read it and copied it down while visiting my mom for the Christmas holiday &amp;amp; knew that her recipe for Coconut Scones With Coconut Glaze sounded so delicious I had to try it. 

When we returned home I realized I didn't have any pecans &amp;amp; didn't think the plain coconut could stand alone. I began thinking tropical flavors for substitutes &amp;amp; then decided on cutting up candied papaya &amp;amp; candied pineapple rings in place of the nuts. The result is beautiful! Despite the amount of coconut items in this recipe, the final product doesn't have an overpowering coconut flavor. Even my coconut-hating husband loved them! The fruit used can be dried or candied but the candied isn't too sweet for this recipe &amp;amp; can easily be found in the bulk section of the supermarket.
I did make the full recipe but wanted the triangle shaped scones I prefer instead of round. Since I only had enough candied fruit to make up for half the nuts, I divided the batter in half.  For the second half I stirred in some chocolate chips, divided the batter again and made half round and tested the other half in my new brownie pan. 
So for me, the original recipe made 10 round scones, 8 triangle scones &amp;amp; 12 square scones in the Perfect Brownie Pan. I had coconut scones coming out my ears! LOL I've since re-crafted the original recipe, cutting it in half to suit my circumstances and preferences.
