Kentucky Apple Festival Apple Pie

I adopted this recipe during the Recipezaar abandoned account recipe adoption. This is a delicious pie with an easy, no fuss crust. The crust is tender and flaky at the same time and the flavor is just the perfect amount of sweetness! Try it and you'll see why it is a Festival winning apple pie! 10/12/04, Edited: cooking time/temperature -- posted by KC_Cooker

Holiday Apple Pie

This is the pie I usually make for Thanksgiving and other holidays at our house. I always use Watkins brand pie seasoning blend, but you may use any good quality brand you prefer. I also often make my own crust, but you may use store-bought crust if you prefer. For the apples, I try to mix several types of baking apples for best flavor. -- posted by HeatherFeather

Apple-Cranberry Crisp Pie

My love of cranberries led to me to adopted this recipe. I think that it is the perfect fall pie with the crisp tartness of the berries shining about the sweetness of the apples. Original poster's comments: "Found this in the Sunday paper in the coupon section and it's become a huge hit. I'm not usually a fan of cranberries, but I like the flavor of this pie! I hope you like it, too!" -- posted by ms_bold

Rustic Apple and Dried Cranberry Pie

I am hopeless when it comes to making pie crusts. Mine taste good, but they always look terrible! This is a freeform pie that looks nice even when *I* make it! Easy to make, so delicious to eat, and something a little different than the normal apple pie. I clipped this recipe out of a magazine years ago, but I can't remember which one.
Green Apple Pie

This is out of a cookbook from a little tea room that is now closed down. It was very popular back in the 50's and 60's here in Tulsa. It was called Brown-Dunkin which became Dillard's Department store years ago. In the 50's it was the place for fashionable lunching ladies. There is one catch to this recipe though. It has 4 different cooking times which are: 375 degrees for 40 minutes, 450 degrees for 10 minutes, 350 degrees for 45 minutes or 400 degrees at 50 minutes. UHMMMM! I think that I would go for the 350 for 45 minutes. I have not made this yet but am just going for the one that best suits the recipe. -- posted by Gingerbear

Cranberry Apple Pie

I found this recipe in an old magazine while looking for dessert ideas for our Canadian Thanksgiving this year. It immediately caught my eye. My husband liked it so much that he has requested it for Christmas. It is a little different from the other cranberry apple pies as the fruit is baked in a custard and the crust contains cream cheese. Try it, you'll love it! -- posted by Irmgard

Caramel Apple Pie

Pouring the caramel over the top of this pie gives it a sweet, crunchy glaze. I have always wanted to make it with a full top crust but everyone always requests the lattice top! Prep time includes preparing the apple slices. Feel free to use refrigerated pie crusts. NOTE: I used a full top crust (see pictures) and it is still delicious and easy, just not very pretty. It would be prettier without using the caramel as a glaze on the top, simply mix it all in with the apple slices. -- posted by MommyMakes

Perfect Apple Pie!

This is a very simple apple pie recipe, and one that I have always had success with, it is the one I always choose when I want to make a perfect apple pie. Of coarse you can use your favorite pie crust recipe if desired. Remember, use only Granny Smith or Pippin for this pie otherwise you will end up with a mushy filling. This pie can also be made with a crumb topping instead of a top pastry crust see recipe below. Once you try this recipe for apple pie you will always come back to it! The amount of apple filling is enough for one large 10-inch deep-dish pie or divide in half and make two 8-inch pies, also the crumb topping for this recipe is enough for two small pies. -- posted by KITTENCAL

Layered Apple Cranberry Pie

An apple pie is a balance between sweet and tart, crisp and tender. Adding cranberries upsets that balance- the tart berries overwhelm the sweet apples plus release juices that can make the bottom crust soggy. Arranging the fruits in two distinct layers allows the flavor of both to come through clearly. Use sweet crisp apples such as Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Fuji or Braeburn. The fillings may be made ahead, cooled and stored separately in the fridge for up to 2 days. The directions are very detailed as are all the recipes from Cook's Illustrated, my favorite magazine. -- posted by SusieQusie

Best-Of-Show Cherry Pie

Hosted a 4-H Food Project meeting at my home featuring "Fall Produce". Although I had planned to use pumpkins, apples and cranberries for the from-scratch fillings, I figured this is another way to make a pie (from the can). She made a beautiful job of it by putting a lattice top-crust on it, then glazing with an egg wash, and sprinkling with baker's sugar crystals. When it came out of the oven, the kids and I decided this was "Best of Show" -- it was so pretty and perfectly beautiful. -- posted by Debber

Rustic Apple Tart

This recipe hails from British Columbia, Canada. It is from the website if the B.C. Tree Fruits Limited company. "Who doesn't love baked apples and cinnamon? They are an irresistible combination especially when served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This rustic apple tart is simpler to make than a pie. You don't have to be neat and fussy with the crust, just simply fold it up over the apples however you please leaving the centre open. The chopped pecans toast while the tart is baking which gives them a buttery taste and help to make the tart look very rustic." http://www.bctree.com/recipes/archive/apple-rustic-tart.php -- posted by Jess4Freedom

Upstairs Apple Pie

I have been slowly modifying this recipe since it was passed on to me by my grandmother. It is baked inside a paper bag at 425°, so an accurate oven temperature is essential (the combustion temperature of paper is Fahrenheit-451, hence the book title). The result is that during the baking process, your downstairs may smell of burning paper, but upstairs will smell like warm apple pie. -- posted by Lafcadio

My Very Favorite Apple Crumb Pie
