Pear Crisp

A terrific way to use up the best winter fruit that we have going for us! This classic crisp has no bottom crust to get soggy. No thickener is necessary since the juices are concentrated during baking. The crisp is at its best when served warm, accompanied by caramel or vanilla ice cream.
Cherry-pear Skillet Cobbler (for the Grill or Campfire)

Who says you can't have a fresh baked dessert at your campsite? It may be difficult to serve with ice cream at camp, but a bit of light cream is delicious. If you are making this at home on your grill (saving the heat from your stove during a hot summer) then by all means, do use the ice cream. This is a fun and delicious dessert to make next to your grilled meat, packet potatoes and grilled veggie side. Dinner is complete without even turning the stove on. -- posted by Karen From Colorado

Macadamias or hazelnuts are also good choices for this cake. It is best served warm from the oven, but it can be allowed to cool completely in its pan, covered with aluminum foil and stored at room emperature for up to 8 hours. To reheat, place in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes.
Pear Ginger Crisp

The combination of sweet pear, golden raisins, and crystallized ginger is absolutely amazing and not too sweet. I don't think I've ever tasted a greater combination. This is from the Victorian Epicure Recipe Book, Volume 4. "Use a sweet and juicy "eating" pear to make this dessert, such as red or yellow Bartlett, Comice, or Seckel. This is delicious served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream." -- posted by CountryMama

Gluten-Free Strawberry-Pear Cobbler

I really enjoyed the distinctive taste of pear peeking through the tart sweetness of strawberries. I recommend using Spectrum's palm oil based shortening, as it's non-hydrogenated and has none of those much-maligned trans fats. Serve this cobbler alone or with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. I can't guarantee that this will work with other gluten-free flours, so stick to Pamela's Ultimate Baking and Pancake Mix if you can find it. -- posted by What's Cooking?

Apple Pear Cranberry Crisp

Adapted from 2007 Ina Garten's recipe. I added the cranberries. They go so well with the pears and the apples, and fresh cranberries were in season and they go so well with the orange zest and juice. This crisp can be successfully frozen. I just made mine the other night, and I actually assembled it and froze it all, wrapped tightly in plastic wrap then aluminum foil, for 8 months!!! And it was delicious. -- posted by Citruholic

Pear Raisin Bread Pudding

At the fruit market I found some wonderful pears and couldn't resist buying some. I got home and wanted to make a pear dessert, so I searched the 'Zaar and found a few recipes I liked, and as usual, had to mess them up and make my own! So thanks to Dancer (Recipe #80786) and TeraGram (Recipe #39011) for the inspiration, and also to my old faithful "Central Cookery Book" (an Australian/Tasmanian Icon).
Also, my eggs were home-laid and all double yolkers, so you may want to use two whole eggs and two egg yolks, depending on your eggs. -- posted by Erin Randall

Mom's Fruit Cobbler

This is the recipe my mom uses on both blueberry cobblers and peach cobblers. I am sure it would work with practically any fruit you wanted to try. When using blueberries, adding a little lemon zest/extract brings out the brightness in the flavors. When using peaches, adding some cinnamon pairs nicely. You may find adding a bit more self-rising flour to the sugar mixture in step #3 will help if you have runny cobbler -- posted by Jill R Q

Apple Pear Crisp (3 Ww Points)

Served this for Thanksgiving this year and it was a hit. Warm soft fruit with a crispy crunchy topping. A perfect way to celebrate the best of fall's bounty in a comforting but enlightened dessert. The fruit should total about 3 pounds and you should feel free to use your favorite varieties of apples and pears. (Although the NI information presented here suggests 4 points, the recipe builder states 3 points.) -- posted by justcallmetoni

The Ultimate Apple Pear Crisp

This is the BEST version of apple crisp I have ever tried. It is undoubtedly due to all the sugar; however, absolutely to die for in moderation.
