			<description>These are SO delicious!!  Kids like them because they are colorful and have M&amp;amp;M candies!  You can make these without nuts - but if you're not allergic - try them with nuts first... the salt with the sweet is amazing!  This recipe is for individual cakes using a muffin pan, but you can also make these as bars in a 9x13 pan - just cook a little longer (about 18 minutes). You could use what ever chocolate you can find for the head, ears and legs. I thought that they looked pretty cute with just the eyes, but you could add a red icing smile or tongue, and nostrils. 			<description>These are GREAT fun! Bake some chocolate fairy cakes, muffins or cupcakes, decorate them and then turn them into Hooting Halloween Owls! I made these last year for a children's Halloween party, and they all loved them. The recipe is based on our British fairy cake or angel cake recipe, where the top of the baked cake or muffin is cut off to create the &amp;quot;wings&amp;quot;. I have stated some sweets (candy) that are British - please use your own local sweets to decorate the owls. This is a wonderful recipe idea that I have changed and adapted from Tana Ramsay, the wife of the famous Gordon Ramsay.....she has some great family recipes, of which this is one. (Preparation time includes the time to decorate and ice them after they have been baked.) 			<title>Spooky Spider Cupcakes/Muffins for a Howling Halloween!</title>

			<description>I JUST love these little spider cakes, when I make them, their faces make me laugh - well, I am easily pleased! Furthermore, they are VERY tasty - they have a much better flavour than NORMAL spiders I find, their legs are a little too chewy! The cake mixture is a double chocolate cake mixture - with cocoa and chocolate pieces, topped off with a chocolate butter cream. The decorations are made using Liquorice Allsorts and liquorice strings/laces or Catherine wheels as we call them in Great Britain.  They are easy to make and can be frozen before you decorate them. I made these for TOTM Cooking School September 2008 - I hope you find the step-by-step photos handy when you come to bake and decorate them. That said, why should the kids have all the fun? With just a little tweaking, fairy cakes can be turned into grown-up fare as well, perfect for a mid-morning coffee break, tea in the afternoon, packed lunch treats, OR for the Christmas tea table. The basic recipe is oh-so-simple so you can keep it plain or indulge yourself with extravagant toppings; for Christmas, I have used fondant icing snowflakes and edible sparkles/cake glitter. Some die-hard purists may omit the vanilla extract but I think fairy cakes are better with it added. Prep time includes the time it takes to decorate the fairy cakes. I was acctually  looking for a recipe like this here but could not find it so i posted my recipe here. In Iceland you will hardly find a potluck where these are not one of the treats. But don't be late as they are usually gone soon. Your kids will love these!
Note: You may use cornflakes or Cheerios or a mixture of these instead of rice krispies but they are in the original recipe.

The use of the vanilla bean makes a big difference in the fragrance and overall taste of the cake as  well, so go ahead and splurge in the spice aisle. 			<description>This recipe is adopted from a recipe for Flag Cake by the Barefoot Contessa.  I made it for 4th of July 2009 and it was probably the best cake I've ever made.  I don't usually like cream cheese frosting, but this one is divine, especially with the fresh berries on top.

A few months later I found cupcakes topped with raspberries and blueberries at Star Provisions' bakery in Atlanta, and I could swear they used this same recipe, though Annie Quatrano might beg to differ.  That's what gave me the idea to make cupcakes with the Flag Cake recipe.  The cake batter includes sour cream, which makes the cake SO moist and delicious.  I've tried substituting 1/2 cup of Splenda for half a cup of the sugar in the batter and they came our great, so you could experiment with substituting Splenda for even more of the sugar.

Tweak the spices to your liking...I use 1 Tbs each because I like the spicier holiday flavour.  Add allspice and/or other holiday spices...

I've also used vanilla yogurt and it adds a soft variation more for a dessert type muffin.

Also try topping with cream cheese icing (check my recipe I posted!).  Sometimes I even add a little cinnamon, ginger, etc or a mix of holiday spices to the icing.

I have had this recipe in my recipe box for nearly 20 years. Strange thing happened when I made this for Thanksgiving after not making it for years. After I baked it the instructed time, it appeared &amp;amp; tested done. It fell a lot on cooling (especially one side) for about 20 minutes which led me to believe it was still not cooked enough inside. I decided to take a chance and put it back in the oven. It rose again as I baked it for another 30-40 minutes and it came out perfect! (Maybe my oven?) Everyone absolutely loved it! With a house full of people, they came to find me to tell me it was the best carrot cake they ever had!

			<description>I found the basis for this frosting through another members post. (Recipe #41923) I tweaked it to make it what I wanted that day, but it is so easily changed to make the smoothest, creamiest, buttery frosting I have ever had! And its EASY!!!! The first time I made it I added a tsp of coconut extract and after it was all mixed up I folded in a 1/2 cup of flaked coconut. It was a HIT!!!
