Whitefish in Tangerine Sauce (Peixe com Molho de Tangerina)

This fragrant, citrusy-sweet fish is perfumed with tangerine, coriander, cilantro and Bermuda onion, and comes from Brazil, one of the world's leading producers of sweet and mandarin oranges (tangerines may have gotten their name as they passed through Tangiers in North Africa during shipping). I like to let the fish marinate for about an hour so the flavors really permeate it, then bake and serve with some rice and a green salad. This is probably interchangeable with ordinary orange juice, but there's just something wonderful about the taste of tangerines ...! -- posted by EdsGirlAngie

Simple Whitefish With Lemon and Herbs

I can't believe something this simple can taste this good. This was actually my very first time making fish, and it turned out absolutely fabulous! This is another recipe from my favorite cookbook, Eating for IBS by Heather Van Vorous. I actually didn't have any rosemary, so I made it with basil and oregano. Try it with your favorite fresh or dried herbs! -- posted by Kree

Pan-seared Cod With Basil Sauce

This has a fresh pesto-like feel without the nuts, and a lot less fat. Any flaky white fish can be used here - I usually have tilapia or whitefish around rather than cod. I had an open bottle of Reisling and so I used that in place of the broth. From Cooking Light. -- posted by Vino Girl

Easy Baked Whitefish Ole'

I got this recipe off a package of frozen whitefish, and it was a lifesaver when I was drawing a mental block on what to cook one night. I added some black pepper to this, and I served the fish with rice, some corn, and a salad. Although this serves four, we can easily eat this all between the two of us. -- posted by Vino Girl

Swordfish Steaks With Pistachio Butter Sauce

From Redbook magazine, April 2001. I've always found this to be a winner. I've used frozen swordfish steaks and fresh; doesn't matter. A bottle of cold white wine and steamed fresh broccoli with lime butter go well...very well...with this. -- posted by vivmom

Or, Think fresh grilled mahi-mahi slipped inside a thick warm corn tortilla and topped with thinly sliced cabbage, drizzled with lime juice and a splash of creme fresh.
Cooking Light's Easy & Crispy Baked Fish Fillets

From Cooking Light Magazine. This is a healthy and delicoius recipe that bakes a moist and tenderv fish with a crispy outside. You won't even miss the fat!
Haddock, cod, or tilapia would make good substitutes for the grouper but you can try it with any fish you like or have on hand. Adjust the baking time depending on the thickness of the fish. -- posted by blucoat

Spicy Grilled Fish

This is a really tasty, economical and different way to enjoy fish! Lots of flavor from the marinade and easy clean up! Winners in my book. I am sure this would work very well on any firm, mild fish. When I made this I was a little crunched in the time department so I only got to marinade it for 1 hour and it was delicious. Plan ahead! This is best marinated for at least an hour but no more than 2 hours. In a pinch, just let it marinate while the grill is heating. -- posted by mama's kitchen

Salmon and Whitefish Cakes (With Horseradish Cucumber Sauce)

The combination of salmon and whitefish is delicious (and pretty). The recipe is from Diane Rossen Worthington and was published in Bon Appétit Magazine (April 2008) and is a great alternative to traditional gefilte fish. If you are preparing the accompanying sauce add the horseradish a little bit at a time as just a little goes a long way. -- posted by blucoat
