A Kiwi Warrior Burger for the Barbie - Barbecue!

I have no idea why this burger recipe from New Zealand is called a warrior burger - maybe because you need to have a "fighting" appetite to eat this amazing burger or have an asbestos tongue?! A meal and a half in a bun - and with MORE than a bit of a kick as well! (I should have called this An All Blacks Burger maybe?!) -- posted by French Tart

My idea of what a Bonza (Great) Aussie burger should be, with the "works" added to it! Plus........warm weather, ocean breezes and a tube of your favourite beer - optional maybe - but probably necessary!
Posting for ZWT3. This is from George Foreman’s grilling cookbook. “Cook’s treat: Peel off the skin from the edges remaining on the mango pit.
The Vixen Burger

It has been said that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. That is certainly the case with this burger that was dreamed up by the Mixin Vixen's during ZWTIII. This is a Texas Man size burger that is sure to please. It makes a fantastic starlight meal on the trail for 2 accompanied with home fries and cowboy beans. Enjoy because we sure had fun developing it! -- posted by PaulaG

Devious Diners Devilishly Delicious Southwest Burger

This burger is posted for the Zaar World Tour Burger Challenge 2007. In honor of my teammates, the awesome and outstanding Devilishly Devious Diners, I would dedicate this recipe to the friends I have made!

I found that it was better to grill the bison burger on top of foil to ensure the burger stays together. The amounts used for the toppings on each burger would depend on the individual. I think these burgers would be outstanding with Bergy's recipe for Recipe #44436 -- posted by Kim127

Southwestern Burger

These tasty, low fat burgers use extra-lean ground beef combined with mashed black beans to reduce fat content and make moist, flavorful patties. The jalapeno pepper, cumin and cilantro add a nice little kick. Use a hotter chile pepper if you prefer, or omit it altogether if you want a more subtle flavor. Serve burgers on a whole grain or sourdough bun with plenty of low fat condiments. Fresh salsa and low fat sour cream work perfectly.

My Favorite Burgers

I finally figured out how I like my burgers best. Give 'em a try and see if you like them this way, too. Tip: If you make the mixture ahead of time, make sure to put the burgers on the counter for about 10 minutes so you're not putting them on the grill ice cold. They cook better that way. -- posted by KissKiss

Peppered Burgers With Avocado

The avocado/sour cream/lemon "dressing" on this delicious burger gives it a uniquely fresh taste. The pepper refers to both red bell and cracked black pepper. No need to dress this burger with anything else (including salt); there's TONS of flavor here! The ingredients originally called for 400 grams of beef mince and 100 grams of sausage mince, but I’ve converted it to approximate lbs. This is adapted from the Vegemite Cook Book... but I used Marmite for the burgers in the photo. So sue me! ;) -- posted by Sandi (From CA)

Bastille Burger - Bearnaise, Blue Cheese and Red Onion Burgers

A home-made burger with three of my favourite French elements included in the ingredients, Bearnaise sauce, French blue cheese and sliced red onions! I made these for a quick lunch on Bastille Day - 14th July, hence the name! I used our excellent local Charolaise beef, a salt marsh beef which is superb, with a good fat to muscle ratio, and a slight tang of herbs and salt. If you want to cut down on the carbs, just have this burger "Naked" without the bun! Likewise for low fat - omit the Bearnaise sauce and chop some fresh tarragon up and mix it with the minced/ground beef. I am not a great lover of commercial burgers, but I do like home-made burgers - and these are now a firm favourite with all my family & friends! This recipe is for 2 people - just increase the ingredients for more people. -- posted by French Tart

I love these burgers, but then there are few burgers I don't like...lol. My favorite cheese is blue cheese and I think it goes so well with burgers...yummy. Pair these up with some tex-mex oven fries and you've got a great meal that everyone will love. I got this recipe from an old Pillsbury book I've got. We really enjoy these I hope you do too. -- posted by mommyoffour

Family's Favorite Hamburgers

I don't like burgers that have a ton of unidentifiable ingredients in them so I decided to keep this one simple. It works perfect for any condiment or topping. My favorite burger is the Rodeo Burger from Buzz Inn in Washington so I felt this would work well with those toppings. Sauteed onions, crispy bacon, barbeque sauce, and cheese. This kept everyone guessing about what was in them because they do keep very moist and at the end of the night as everyone was leaving, I couldn't even count how many people said "The hamburgers were great" as they said good night and thanked us for dinner. I work the meat for a while and sprinkle the salt over just a little at a time so it gets distributed and I know for sure that there isn't a huge salt pocket that will get stuck in one of the patties. Sorry, I don't actually know serving size because we didn't even use all the meat up and patties size will differ; freeze unused meat for later if it hasn't been thawed. -- posted by Christineyy!

Owens Sausage and Ground Beef Backyard Burgers

This recipe was included in an ad in my local paper. It sounded so good that we had to try it. We used Owens rolled sausage since I had the coupon. It was great, but I'm sure other sausage brands would work too! The recipe originally said to make 8 patties, but they ended up so small that I decided next time I will make 6 larger patties. We used regular flavored sausage, but my husband and I love spicy food, so I can't wait to try this recipe using hot flavored sausage. Be sure to have all your favorite burger toppings on hand like lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, etc.**Update - made these patties for the 4th of July and used 96/4 extra lean hamburger since the sausage is so "fatty". Doubled the recipe and made 12 patties. They came out just the right size. Huge hit with all the guests! Many tried to guess the "secret ingredient" and were amazed when I told them it was breakfast sausage mixed with the beef. -- posted by Texas Aggie Mom

Romanian Mici--Grilled Fresh Sausages

These are also called mititei and they are an essential part of Romanian life in the summer. People in Romania rarely make these from scratch but rather buy the pre-seasoned meat at the butcher shop. In the U.S. we don't have that option so I combined a few recipes I had seen and came up with this one. They are delicious. Rich and garlicky. Serve them straight off the grill with yellow mustard and bread. Beer is a must too.
4th of July Triple-Layered Savory Casserole

From Family Favorites Cookbooks by Readers Digest, c. 1993. THREE LAYERS OF YUMMY - VEGETABLE, MEAT & PASTA! This dish is a crowd-pleaser at a 4th of July celebration or at a pot luck supper. Can substitute ground turkey or veal for the ground beef. For serving, use a clear, ovenproof dish to show off the layers of the vegetables, beef, and macaroni. This casserole can be assembled a day ahead and kept, covered with plastic wrap, in the refrigerator until ready to bake. -- posted by NELady

Stuffed Hamburgers

This makes a really quick, delicious, and moist burger. The filling is subtle and does not distract from the meat. From "The 30-Minute Kosher Cookbook" by Judy Zeidler. You can substitute other veggies/herbs, including replacing the tomatoes with salsa for added flavour. Be sure to chop the vegetables finely, so they cook thoroughly. If you want, you can put these together the night before (they only get better with time). -- posted by blucoat

Kinda Sorta Tex Mex Burger

I threw these together tonight when getting in the mood for ZWT5. When I think 'Texas' I often think of good BBQ and beef. When I think of Mexico I tend to think of a bit of heat and fresh tomatoes and avocado. So, I threw them together to make one yummy burger.
Hawaii Da Kine Burgers W/ Sweet-Chili Glaze & Goat Cheese

Sutter Home's 2008 Build a Better Burger ® Winner!!!!
"Da kine" is a key phrase in Hawaiian Pidgin, the language of the "locals." It can mean almost anything, but commonly refers to something good or genuine, or as in this case, "the best."

This burger is as local as it gets, both in taste and ingredients. The patties are tender and juicy, thanks to fresh papaya and sweet onion, and are spiced with Hawaiian Portuguese sausage, which is so popular in Hawaii that it is on every breakfast menu (including McDonald’s). The accompanying salad employs heating oil to its smoking point, a local cooking method, resulting in a dynamite burger accompaniment. To complete the Hawaiian flavoring, I added a sweet glaze (Hawaiians love sweet and savory) and was inspired by our award-winning goat dairy to create a mouth-watering ginger-infused cheese spread. Ho, dat's da kine!

The Uncle 12 Burger

Theres nothing like a juicy burger right off the grill served on a toasted bun with all the fixings, "run it through the garden" I say! Lightly grilled ham on this burger is a nice addition. This is a favorite to grill because it is simple, quick and satisfying. I purchased a 6oz burger press for $6 and found that my burgers don't fall apart anymore and are perfect size everytime, making it quick and easy and delicious! TIP: let your grill do the work, keep the lid closed while cooking and don't mess with the burgers while their cooking unless it's time to flip or remove. Grab a beverage and your timer, and be sure to let them rest for 5 minutes to keep the juices in. -- posted by Uncle 12
