Delicious Vegan Shake (Guilt Free!)

As a new vegan I have learned to experiment in completely new ways. I have also discovered that it is suddenly very hard for me to eat my required amounts because everything is so filling! I came up with this after dinner treat as a way of sneaking in an additional serving of both fruit and legumes. :)

This is incredibly simple and fast as well, which makes it even better. It is very easy to change up and add to as well - and always turns out fantastic! -- posted by hfghgfhf

One glass has more protein than an ounce of meat. Amazing :) as I am currently searching for yummy and unsual ways of getting in my protein and calcium. I usually HATE shakes and smoothies and what not, but I tried this recipe from my local grocery store for breakfast one morning and I was delightfully suprised. -- posted by catercow

Orange Julius... a Special Twist on an Old Favorite

When you think of orange julius, a drink with milk or cream, orange juice, and possibly egg is most likely what comes to mind. Although I have always considered myself an orange julius lover, that drink never existed until I googled it in hopes of finding a recipie for my favorite mall drink- a mouth-watering combination of orange, kiwi, and yougurt dubbed "Orange Julius" by California Fruit Shake & Yogurt Co. Disapointed by my search results and determined to create the drink I love, I concocted this recipe. I hope you enjoy it. Here's to the new Orange Julius! -- posted by jerseagrl

Tropical Fruit Shake

Sweet, fruity and apcked with vitamin C, this is a brilliant way to get children to enjoy healthy drinks. If you use really ripe fruit, it shouldn't need any additional sweetening, but taste it to check before serving. Mango makes a thick puree when blended, so top it up with mineral water- or a good quality lemonade. -- posted by Chef #864207

Shake, Smoothie... Frozen Fruit Drink

This is something we have all the time. We freeze the fruit in advance so its always on hand. Mmmmm! You can use just regular milk, or the coconut milk. It's not as creamy though. We use whatever fruit we feel like. If your blender can't handle the thickness, use your food processor.

Almond Banana Shake

Based on a recipe from Carol Alt's cookbook, The Raw 50. She says in its introduction, ".... As Dr. Gonzalez notes in his foreword, germinated almonds may help protect against cancer. (They supposedly have estrogen blockers.) That is why I eat them and include them in every meal I can." Almond milk is a non-dairy milk made out of almonds; you can find ready-made almond milk in your grocer's natural foods section. I have made this with purchased almond milk; recipe #356213 is a delicious homemade almond milk! :) -- posted by mersaydees

The All-Banana Shake by Deborah Madison

Entered for safe-keeping. From Deborah Madison's "This Can't Be Tofu!". She claims the taste is similar to a Mexican liquados (bananas, vanilla and Mexican cream). Orange flower water is used in Middle Eastern and Indian cooking; if you can't find it, you might try Recipe #110957 #110957. She suggests the following variations (which would no longer qualify as "all-banana" ) : 1/4 cup peanut butter or almond butter (an "Elvis"! evoking Elvis Presley's love of bananas with peanut butter); 2 tablespoons or more of chocolate syrup; both peanut butter and chocolate syrup; or 1/2 cup coconut milk plus a squeeze of lime juice.
Peanut Butter and Banana Chocolate Milkshake

If you need to use up some leftover bananas or you just feel like dessert but don't want to spend a lot of time making--this will do the trick. I used vanilla bean ice cream instead of chocolate ice cream and still found it super chocolatey and rich. Make sure it's a little soft and not just out of the freezer or you'll have difficulty mixing. I put a little extra peanut butter (I'll post the recipe the way I found it), but you decide if you prefer more peanut butter or chocolate. I found this online from Stephanie Zonis, but I'm not sure which website. Enjoy! -- posted by AmyZoe

Protein Milk Shake

A wonderful way to start your day. I like to have anything other than 'breakfast from a box', and one way that is quick and easy and which guarantees a good balance of protein, carbs and min fat. Great for in-between meals too. -- posted by ICEcoffee

Cherry Joe

Adapted from Alton Brown's cookbook, "Feasting on Asphalt", recipe courtesy of Wiles-Smith Drug store in Memphis, TN. Don't be afraid of the vodka. You use a very, very small amount for each shake and it really does help to bring out those alcohol-soluble flavors.
Besides, the kids'll sleep better, so might you.

Pb&b Shake

I was in a bit of a pickle. I was getting bored of my usual breakfast so I wanted something new, yet good to taste and for my health. So, I came up with the brilliant idea of taking an old shake recipe and giving it a little pizazz! Although I only make it for breakfast, I guess it could be used for a nice snack or as a dessert drink. However you decide to indulge in it, I hope you enjoy this wonderful mix just as much as I do.

*NOTE* In the "Preparation Time" section, I put 1 Day, this is because of the freezing of the banana. -- posted by Nick R.

Easier-Than-You-Think Strawberry Shake (A.k.a. the Mistake)
