Easy Orange Scones

Bisquick mix makes these scones simple – all you have to do is mix. You can now find dried blueberries in the same grocery section as the raisins, so you could make orange-blueberry scones! You can find almost any fruit in the dried fruit section of your store, this is just a good basic scone dough. -- posted by Ceezie

Sourdough Scones

Recently, I was looking for some way to use up excess sourdough starter rather than my usual go-tos for pizza crust and pancakes. I came up with this cinnamon-y recipe. My kids went nuts over it.
Eggless Tender Flaky Scones

This lovely textured scone is from a chef at Hastings House, Canada. The key to its tenderness is not overhandling the dough. Best served with clotted cream, whipped cream with a touch of powdered sugar or marmalade. It's the easiest, best tasting scones I've ever come across. -- posted by RotiJala

Cranberry White Chocolate Scones

A very tasty scone recipe that takes no time at all. Though the recipe calls for dried cranberries, I usually use a mix of dried cherries and berries for variety and often use more than the 1/2 cup called for. I also sprinkle turbinado sugar on the top for a bit of crunch. I specify cutting this in sixths, which makes a good size scone, but if you want smaller ones, try eighths and cut down on baking time. -- posted by chinasmom2000

I-Love-You Scones

I got this from the Betty Crocker website, and I thought I would post it here for the benefit of anyone who might be looking for recipe ideas for Valentine's Day, a special anniversary, or a romantic breakfast for two. I made them only once (with raspberry preserves and homemade applesauce), and they turned out rather well. It does require using your hands to shape the dough into heart-shaped scones. But it's not really all that difficult, and well worth that little extra effort for a romantic occasion. These aren't terribly sweet scones, so you might want to increase the sugar to about 1/2 cup (or more, to suit your taste preference) for a sweetnees boost. -- posted by NorthwestGal

Orange Eggs Benedict

This dish is truly spectacular, perfect for a birthday, anniversary, Mother's Day, or any other special brunch occasion. My hubby discovered it in The New Basics Cookbook by Rosso & Lukins a few years ago. He had forgotten to get reservations at my favorite restaurant for Mother's Day brunch so he made this instead. It was better than my favorite restaurant! The original recipe says it serves 4. But it is very rich and it's enough food for 8 if you're serving with a side of fresh fruit. That cuts the calories and fat in half. -- posted by appleydapply

They are simple to make and keep well. I have subed pecans for almonds. -- posted by Queen Dana

Danish Ebleskiver (Buttermilk Recipe)

This is a traditional Danish recipe, from my husband's family. This REQUIRES the use of an ebleskiver iron or monk's pan. It's basically little fluffly ball-shaped pancakes. You can fill them with fruit jams, applesauce, or have them plain with a dusting of powdered sugar. My kids LOVE them! -- posted by Mrs. Odneal <3

Steel Cut Oatmeal Scones

Very slightly sweet, quite healthy compared to your average scone. If you want this sweet add another 1/2 cup sugar or splenda!! Great for on the go. This is also great if you add a cup of dried fruit such as blueberries, cherries or currants at the end. Be careful not to overmix and remember, these are not meant to be sweet.
Caution this is a fairly moist dough, just use quite a bit of flour to avoid sticking.
This recipe is lower calorie, high fiber, high protein (for a scone), and very low GI. These will keep you full for a very long time. -- posted by TaterBug! :)

Best Ever Scones -- from King Arthur Flour Website

I got this recipe from the KAF web site. After trying many scone recipes (including pre-bought mixes) - DH and I agree - this is the BEST recipe. It also has the least amount of butter than any of the others I've made. I also made mine with 2% milk. The first batch I made with 3/4 C dried cherries + 3/4 C white chocolate. Next time I'm going to try 1 C dried blueberries + juice of 1 lemon plus zest of one lemon. YUUUMY! I hope many of you enjoy these too! -- posted by Gidget265

Kellie's Basic, Go Ahead and Mess With It, Scone Recipe

This recipe started as a Lemon Glazed Scone recipe I found in a locally published recipe book, you know the kind sold as a money raiser with personal recipes from community members. Over the years I have adapted it many times. It has become the basic formula I use to make scones for tea with friends, family gatherings or on those mornings when I wake up and find we are out of bread and cereal. I add whatever I have in the cupboard or fridge. It has never let me down.

I encourage you to substitute and add stuff. The basic formula is mix together the dry stuff, cut in the shortening, stir in any lumpy additions then mix in the wet stuff. Have fun with it! -- posted by redplaid huf

Sugar Hill Inn's Raisin Scones

I stayed at this quaint little inn, located in New Hampshire, for several nights and was lucky enough to enjoy their amazing breakfasts. This is just one of their delicious recipes that I know I will be making for years! We had the cranberry scones, so I would substitute cranberries for the raisins in this recipe. The scones were also served with a delicious orange butter. This recipe results in a soft, not-too-sweet scone that absolutely melts in your mouth.

I remember course sugar being on top of these scones, which is not mentioned in the recipe. If desired, I would sprinkle enough to taste on the dough before baking. -- posted by Mitra <3

Top with butter, jam, coconut oil, or your favorite other topping. You can use all milk or buttermilk in place of milk and yogurt.
Easy Blueberry Almond Scones

Inspired by Lalalous's recipe #371363, this simple scone recipe is so easy, you can make it in the morning before work!
Buttermilk and Sour Cherry Scones for Afternoon Tea and Picnics

A delightful and EASY scone recipe that is perfect for a proper afternoon tea or to take on a picnic. Dried sour cherries are sensational and give a deep essence of cherry flavour to these scones, whilst the buttermilk makes them light and airy. This is a casual eating scone, easy to rustle up, and is perfect when eaten fresh from the oven with butter and maybe some cherry jam and cream too! If taking on a picnic, wrap the scone in a clean tea towel to keep it warm and pack the butter and jam separately. Makes one large scone, which is marked to split into wedges when served. -- posted by French Tart
